Chapter 5: Chaos Gate

Richard was surprised at how much Jamie had calmed down in the morning. He had gone in with Lux, and much to Richard’s amazement Jamie was human again. Not only was she human, but she was up doing exercises.
“Princess?” Richard said softly.
Jamie stopped mid exercise and looked up. “Morning Richard and Lux!” she said politely. Fluff was sitting on the bed glaring at Richard, making Richard feel a bit nervous.
“How are you this morning?” Lux asked.
“Well, thank you!” Jamie said with a smile.
“Good?” Lux said surprised. Jamie was trapped after all and her mate was kidnapped.
“Yet, she seems calm! She is definitely up to something!” Loki, Lux’s demon mind linked.
“Yes, good! Now, can you let me out please let me out? As you can see, I am perfectly calm. I am no danger to anyone! ” Jamie said as she smiled sweetly.
“I see now! She is playing a game because she wants to be released!” Loki mind-linked. Lux relaxed a little, thinking he had figured out what the game was.
“Are you prepared to swear a blood oath?” Richard asked, folding his arms. Lux realised that Richard has figured out her game as well.
“Richard…” Jamie said.
“The answer is a simple yes or no!” Richard growled.
“Fine, the answer is no. But, can I at least have some breakfast and a book?” Jamie said with a sigh.
“Yes, but only if you kiss me!” Richard said.
“What?” Jamie said confused.
“You said that you hated us last night, we need...I mean you need to make amends for that!” Richard said sternly. As much as he tried to deny it, what his fated mate said had affected him deeply. Amon had been restless and he had hardly slept at all.
Jamie c****d her head and smiled before saying, “of course! But, you don't need to bargain for a kiss, my love!”
Richard signalled a smiling lux to leave before walking through the two magical barriers. Jamie found herself quickly pulled into Richard’s chest before she felt his lips pressed on hers.
Jamie instantly felt their mate bond become strong again and Richard must have felt it too, as he growled happily before deepening the kiss. Jamie instinctively put her arms around his neck. Richard lifted her and carried her towards the bed.
“I love you, Richard, so much!” Jamie said in between kisses.
“I love you too! Please tell me you understand why I am doing this?” Richard said as he laid her down on the bed and started to undress her.
“Shh, don't let us talk about it now sweetheart!” Jamie said as she took off his shirt. She kissed him as he entered her. Passion consumed them both as Richard started to thrust.
“I love you so much, Princess!” Richard kept whispering in her ear as he felt her climax around him. It was not long until he did the same and he bit down on her mate mark, sending her completely over the edge. When he was spent, he collapsed next to her and began to lick her bite mark.
“You don't have to do that, I am not a mortal anymore!” Jamie protested as she moved away from him.
“Amon and I never did it because we are mortal, but because we love you!” Richard said sounding hurt. To lick your mate's mark after you had bitten them was a sign of deep love in the Demon world, a fact Jamie knew well.
Jamie sighed and said, “Tell me something, if you had a choice, would you have picked me?”
“Don't do this!” Vanth warned.
“I have to!” Jamie mind linked.
“What?” Richard asked confused.
“I asked if you had a choice, would you pick me or the Empress?” Jamie asked.
“Jamie, how could you even ask that? We were born for each other!” Richard said as Jamie sat up and started to get dressed.
“Dam, this is not going to be easy!” Jamie mind linked to Vanth. Jamie was desperately trying to pick a fight with Richard. In her world, it would make it easier for them to be apart.
“Don’t. Just be with him and one day he will understand! Don't make it harder for him than it already is!” Vanth advised.
Jamie thought about it and decided Vanth was right and she sighed. “I am sorry, I am just so worried about Eric!” Jamie said and she felt Richard’s arms around her. Jamie tried to commit the feeling to memory, it would be a long time before she felt them again.
“I know Princess, you don't feel whole. But trust me, I will do everything in my power to help him!” Richard said genuinely.
“I know love!” Jamie said.
“But to do that, I need you to be safe! I can't lose you darling Richard said, nuzzling her neck. His eyes turned black as Amon started to lick the bite mark on her neck. Jamie did not stop him this time and she felt the wound heal.
“I understand, ” Jamie said softly.
“Then come, let me spend the day making it up to you!” Richard said.
“Why not?”Jamie said with a smile as she felt herself being pulled down back on the bed.
Later that day, Jamie could see darkness had fallen and the moon was rising. Richard had been called to the court of the Gods of Light on business, leaving Jamie alone. They had spent the day together and now it was time to prepare to leave. Jamie packed her bag and made sure that her trusted Matantur was firmly fixed in her hair.
“I hope I am doing the right thing!” Jamie muttered softly to Fluff, who had watched her carefully as she packed. He made sure that she did not forget anything. Jamie sighed and put the Scale stone ring on her finger.
“You are!” Harper said as he suddenly shimmered into the room.
“Harper? I suppose you don't need to ask why you are here! ” Jamie commented.
Harper's Mother was an oracle and had passed the gift on to Harper.
“I am here to tell you that you are on the right path. I can also tell you that when the path is not clear ahead, you must not look back under any circumstances! The second thing is that the smallest friend can be the biggest help in your time of need!” Harper said.
Jamie looked at Harper with curious eyes, she would be a fool to forget his words. “So, you are not going to stop me?” Jamie asked.
“No, it is the only way. I will look after Richard and you will need this!” Harper said, throwing her a leather pouch full of coins. “It is full of used Chaos coins, it will be less suspicious than new coins and should be enough for supplies and bribes.”
Jamie three his arms around his neck and kissed his cheek before saying, “Thank you, my Friend!”
“You must go now and because the moon is at its peak!” Harper said as his eyes went black. He cast a spell and Jamie suddenly found herself in the Crystal Mountains of a large stone gate. It was at least 30 feet (10 meters) high and was completely made out of black stone. It had strange runes that Jamie did not recognise, but her goddess powers told her it was old. There was a large seven-headed serpent that adorned the doors.
“The Gate has been here since the creation of the realms,” Vanth said.
“I can quite believe it!” Jamie said as she silently thanked Harper for teleporting her straight to the gate.
“Put the ring in the closet serpent head and it will open the gate!” Fluff advised.
“Ok!” Jamie said as she walked forward and put the red stone into the serpents eye. As soon as she did it, the stone began to glow. The serpents heads began to move and Jamie heard a large booming sound as the doors began to swing open. Beyond the doors, Jamie saw a wooden bridge with touches on either side heading off into the distance.
“Are you ready?” Vanth asked.
“Why not? Chaos realm, here we come!” Jamie said as she walked through the gate with Fluff.
