Love matters

Act 1 Scene1 In a city of many were few and among them was Mia. I was the least of the least, the unseen in the midst of many ,a student of one of the popular schools in the city. I am Mia Sam . ********** At school; Mia, Vera and Stella sat beside each other gisting to the fact that there was no teacher in class. Mia sat in between Vera and Stella. They discussed; Mia: ( With a sigh, putting her hands on the desk reluctantly) Seriously 😳,the note is something else,trust me . Stella: ( Dropping the pen and looking round the class) Omor , I'm done with this note . See it's soon break period. Mia: So… what's up ( A moment of silence) We could play a game I guess. Ehmmmm……( thinking 🤔) Vera: What game could that be….. Stella: We could play something like….. Mia: Truth or dare.( Hitting both hands on the desk) Yeah, let's play truth or dare… Stella : Yes but it will not be interesting just the three of us. Vera: We could invite some guys over. Mia: People like…. Vera : People like Matt, Darni, Tony, and Steve. Mia: Ehmmmm … That's… Alright, let's play. I'm in. Vera: Same. Stella : Me too. ************************ Vera called the other guys, inviting them over; Vera: How far. We're playing a game now ,will you guys like to join? Matt : What game? Vera: Truth or dare. Tony: Omor… Is it with the three of you? Let it be that truth is truth and dare is dare… Vera: Yeah, just come. Matt : Alright na. We'll play. Act 1 Scene 2 Light beams at the center of the class where Mia, Vera, Stella, Matt, Tony, Steve and Darni were seated round a desk . On the desk was an empty bottle placed at the center of the table which was used for rotation. Matt said; Matt: Look,we only have two truths.Once you use it that's it for you. Stella : Ahhh….. Steve : Yes na . If you guys are not playing like that then I'm not playing. Mia: Alright we're in. Let's start. ( Spinning the bottle) The head of the bottle pointed at Stella and then bottom pointed at Matt. Matt : Ahhh… Who's asking who? (Looking confused) Mia: See…it's like this. When the head of the bottle points at you, then you're to be dared by the one who the bottom of the bottle points at. Stella : So he's daring me? Ahhh.. Tony : Omor guy , bring am come abeg. Vera : Chai… Matt : Ehmmmm…. Truth or dare ? Stella : Truth. Matt : Okay…tell me the truth, who among us ( pointing at Tony, Darni, Steve and himself ) who are you crushing on. Vera: Ehmmmm…. Stella : (Took a breath) Darni. Tony : My man… Darni: Really… Since when? Stella : Not your turn. Matt spinned the bottle this time. It pointed at Steve and Mia. The head of the bottle pointed at Steve and the other,at Mia. Steve : Oh my goodness… Mia: I'm asking you right? Yeah. Sooo… Truth or dare? Steve : Dare . Matt : Uhhhh ... .big man ugh.. Mia: I dare you to kiss Vera for 30 seconds holding her tightly, placing your arms round her waist. Vera: Aba na ….. Tony : Don't even think of it. You're doing it whether you like it or not. There's no changing. Steve : Alright. Tony moved closer to Vera,and Vera stood up gently. He grabbed her waist with his soft arms and dragged her closer to himself, gently his lips brushed down hers and he kissed slowly. Darni: Ahhh…ahhhh…. E don do oooo Steve : (Polling back) 30 minutes never reach ooo. Mia: I didn't say 30 minutes,I said 30 seconds. Vera: It's my turn now. She spinned the bottle and the head pointed at Mia and the other at Stella. Matt : Sharp. Stella : Truth… orrrr… dare? Mia: ( Rolled her eyes) Dare… Tony sighted a teacher approaching the class . Tony : Omor that woman is coming ooo. Stella : I dare you to date Matt. Mia: What… How would that be possible when he hasn't even asked me out? Stella : Left for you. Figure it out yourself. Mia: And if I don't? Tony : You'll have to kiss all the guys in class. Mia: You say what now… How… Darni: Everyone agrees with it, Soo… Teacher walked in and everyone stood up to greet. *********************** Act 1 Scene 3 At home, Mia just got home from school. She walked in, the table was set, her mum walking out of the kitchen with plates in her hands. Her dad and younger brother sat on the dining table. Dominic sat just beside her dad. Mia walked in ; Mia: Good afternoon mum, afternoon dad. ( She walked pass like nothing) Mum: Mia. ( Yelled) What's wrong with her? Dominic : Mummy. Mum: Yes baby. Dominic : Is Mia not gonna join us? Mum: (Touching his head) Don't worry baby,Mia is just a bit tired. I'll just go talk to her later. Alright then, eat up. After Mia's mum had served lunch ,she went up to Mia's room to find out what's actually wrong with Mia . At Mia's room ; Knocks on the door ; Mum ; Mia baby, it's mummy, come open up. Mia: Don't wanna talk. Go away! Mum: (Opened the door slowly)He…y.. Mia: I said you should go away. I don't wanna talk to you. Mum: (Sat on Mia's bed close to her, touching her leg) Mia! Lunch is ready, come down and have lunch. Mia: (Shifted her leg ) I'm not hungry. Mum: You were never like this, what changed? Mia: (Looked up at her mum and back to her phone) You changed. Mum: (Touching her) You know you can tell me anything right baby. Mia: (Removed her mum's hand) I tried but you didn't listen, you called me a liar .Stay away from me mum. Mum: You don't have to act this way Mia , you know that right. Mia: I'm not sure I wanna know anything anymore, just let me be. Mia's mum's arm shifted slowly away from Mia. Mum: I'm sorry. Mia: Sorry don't solve anything. Mia's mum walked out of the room. *********************************** Act 1 Scene 4 Later that night , in Mia's room. She laid on her bed , tears rolling down her eyes , memories flashing in her head. Her eyes opened and she saw something or maybe someone at her down saying her name; Clown: Mia! Mia: Who's there? That looks like me. Clown: You know ( moving closer) You could actually live life differently. There's a whole different world out there,no pain ,no wounds,no tears, you actually don't have to worry about what others say or do . Here is not the end Mia. I can take you somewhere better. Mia : Where's that? Clown : Just come with me, come with me! The voice echoed in Mia's head until someone knocked at the door and then she realized it was just her mind messing with her again. Dominic : Mia, please come down for breakfast. We're late for school. Mia: That's none of my business . Mia got up from her bed into her bathroom,stood in front of the mirror and looked at herself closely , only to find out that she wasn't seeing clearly. Things were blurry, and when she looked closely she saw someone like herself in the mirror. Quickly, she struggled with the tap , trying to get water to rinse her face. Mia rinsed her face and everything was normal again. At school : Mia sat just beside Vera and Stella. Vera: Are you okay? (Referring to Mia) No response from Mia . Vera: Hey! (Tapping her gently) I'm talking to you, what's up. Mia: I'm fine, I'm okay. Stella : What's up with you Mia? Mia: Nothing really, trust me. (Sighed) Enough about that, let's talk about something else. Vera : Like Matt. Mia: What about him? Vera : Whaa……t… He's cute though and plus, your dare. You gonna date him, remember? Mia: Yeah, yeah. About that, come on Stella, it doesn't have to go this way. Stella : What are you even saying? Come on , that guy is soooo soooo cute. Mia: Don't you get it? The fact is I don't even like him . Vera: You have to like him to find him attractive, you know. Stella : Plus you have to date him . You really have to or else…. I don't have to tell you what's gonna happen. Mia : Honestly I'm lost here, how do I even start. We aren't even friends. We don't align. Ahhhhh……. Stella : You could start by walking up to him . Mia : Andddd… Say what after? Vera : Anything actually. You don't have to think, just say anything that comes to your mind. Mia : That's insane. Mia stood up reluctantly, considering the fact that she had no choice literally,walked down to Matt's desk,where he was seated with Steve. Mia: Hey! Matt : (Turned,saw her and turned back without saying anything) Mia : (Whispered to herself) What gods…Mia calm down, you can actually do this. (Called again)Matt…(with a bit of frustration in her tone) Matt: What! Mia : Ahhh… Are you doing this intentionally to frustrate me? Cause if you are ,ugh… you have to think again. Matt : (Standing up) Mia , you have to make me want you, ugh.. right now your social life depends on me. Impress me Mia. (smirked and walked out) Mia: Is he threatening me? He must actually be insane. You don't wanna mess with me Matt, you really don't want to. *********************************************
