Alphas

✶Elizabeth's POV✶ When I came to the Fae Colony, I tried avoiding as many people as I could. I don't want to become close with anyone, if I can avoid it I will. Goodbyes are hard. But I couldn't avoid it entirely. A knock at my door tells me she's here already and I go to open the door for the only girl I've become friends with since I've arrived. She was assigned to me as my lady-in-waiting when I first arrived, but despite my efforts not to, I got close to her. "Thea, you're here early. What's . . ." My words die in my throat as I see Aiwin come up beside her.  "Aiwin, what's wrong?" He holds out his hand, a serious expression on his face. "You need to see this." I look over at Thea who nods her head encouragingly. Not that I expect her to talk, she is a mute. I've been told nothing is medically wrong with her or preventing her from speaking. But I've been told she's been through a lot in her past and I haven't pushed the matters of knowing what. But ever since, she's gone mute. To communicate, she'll either send visions into my mind or uses a hand held white board to communicate with me. Her blonde hair is beautifully braided back with flowers intertwined into the braid. Secretly,I am jealous of her looks for she looks so regal and innocent. I take Aiwin's hand who leads me out into the hall. It's busy with fae's and animal. Some faes prefer to be in their animal form which varies from every fae. I've asked Aiwin on countless occasions to show me his animal form but has told me that Ameria constantly had him kill in that form and refuses to go into that side of him: a killer as he puts it. it angers me because that's his other half and because Ameria made him a killer with that half, he refuses to go into it or talk about it. So we walk down the hall and I never get tired of its beauty with the open windows and alcoves showing the mountains and views of the colony. Thea and I would sometimes find a spot at night and we would just sit and admire the view. She's probably used to it, but nonetheless, she sits there and would listen to anything I needed to talk about. We continue down the hall through turns and down steps. I constantly get lost, it's like a maze to me. But after some time, we enter the throne room where Aiwins brother, Kalan sits on the throne. He looks very similar to Aiwin with his brown hair despite his blue eyes. His features aren't as sharp or as handsome as Aiwin, but handsome nonetheless just like the rest of his brothers. After Aiwin left, he had to take the throne and rule over fae colony after his parents stepped down and left them control. It should be Aiwin on that throne, he was born to be a king. Just like Jason was. They all bow in front of Kalan out of respect who rolls his eyes. "I've told you all that family do not need to bring formalities. Especially you Aiwin." Aiwin smiles. "Apologies brother. We came as soon as you called us." "Called us?" I questions. Kalan moves his attention to me, noticing my confused expression. "Yes, well, I mainly called for you Elizabeth. There's a matter that I want you here for." I raise a brow, more confused than ever. "A matter?" Kalan beacons to the guards guarding the throne room doors. "Let them in." I turn, watching the doors open. Ten males walk in and I take a step back as they enter, moving closer to Aiwin. who puts a hand on my back reassuringly. They stop when Kalan puts a hand up, the guards stopping them a safe distance away. "Who are they?" I whisper to Aiwin "Alphas," Kalan announces, addressing them. My head whips in their direction and I step forward toward them. "Alphas," I whisper. I turn to Kalan who sits, focused on the group of males. "My alphas?" Kalan looks towards me, a smile blooming onto his face. "These are the alphas who ran the packs in your colony and serves you and your mate. They were able to flee and came here on news of their queen finding safety here." I turn to the Alphas who look exhausted, bruised, hurting. "You're our Queen?" One of them asks and I nod, too silent to speak. My alphas. "Yes, I am your Queen," I swallow heavily, my voice weakening. "Mate to King Jason." I look down at my feet feeling the rise of tears. I am their Queen, they should see no tears from me, they need someone strong. I feel a hand on my lower back; Aiwin. "Bring in the rest," Kalan announces. I turn my attention to the door as more people walk in; men, women, children. "Your Alphas managed to get as many from their packs out away from Ameria. From what I've been told, they have two hundred able men." I look back at the Alphas who suddenly bow before me, one by one. "Long live Queen Elizabeth, Queen of Wolves." I look down upon them and I kneel down in front of them. Their eyes widen as their Queen moves down towards them. "I am sorry that I couldn't have done anything. I not only failed my colony but my mate," I feel the ache in my chest—my heart—return and I hut my eyes for a brief moment to recollect my thoughts. "But I can assure you that I will fight back for our Colony. Your King may be gone but your Queen still lives. So I will fight." I raise onto my feet, focusing on my people. "I am your Queen," I repeat. "And I will not let Ameria win! Not only did she hurt me, but my people, my friends, she will wish she never stepped foot into our colony! Will you, my people, wolves, fight for your home, your Queen, your King who she took away from you? So you want to see her blood spilt?" The crowd yells in agreement, thrusting their fists into the air, screaming, chanting. "Will you fight with me?" I yell. The crowd yells and the Alphas stand, their eyes glowing as their wolves make an appearance. I allow my own to come forth and glow for them. "Let us avenge what is ours." ✶✶✶      "Do you think I'm doing the right thing?" I currently sit on the ledge window with Thea, looking out at the view at night, watching the lights flicker on and off. Aiwin said he would have joined us but had business with Kalan. Thea nods her head eagerly to which still doesn't settle with me. "Some of my people, alphas survived, and I don't even know how to lead them." I see from the corner of my eye Thea grabbing onto her whiteboard, writing something down quickly. She faces the whiteboard to me, tapping it to grab my attention which reads: Is that so? Then what did I see in the throne room? For someone with few words, she does know what to say. "I don't even know what that was." I see Thea rub the board this her hand, clearing what she wrote before taking the lid off her marker with her mouth and writing something else down. I watch as she writes, waiting for her to turn the whiteboard around. That was a Queen speaking to her people. I hug my knees to my chest, feeling the cool night breeze caress my skin. "Maybe." Thea waves her finger back and forth, shaking her head. She rubs off words on the whiteboard showing me again. That was a Queen. I smile softly. "Thanks, Thea." She nods, a smile forming on her face before splaying her hand out to the view. "I know, it's gorgeous. I don't think I'll ever get tired of it. You must be used to it by now." She thinks before shaking her head, placing a hand on her heart. "You still love it, huh?" She nods, smiling before looking out at the view too. I don't know why I get along with Thea so well. Maybe because she's quiet and I need quiet after everything that has happened? Or maybe because of her being mute, she's such a good listener and maybe that's what I need. Nonetheless, I like her as my friend but I also miss Rose. A lot. "Liz?" Thea and I both turn to face Aiwin who has an expression mixed between nervous, confusion and shock. He looks over at Thea, a silent question and she nods, leaving to give us space. "What's wrong?" I ask as I get off the ledge. Aiwin sighs before running a hand through his hair. "We've been talking to the alphas and—I don't know how to say this, Liz." I step forward to Aiwin, grabbing hold of his hand. "Just say it. I can take it." Aiwin meets my eyes, looking at me as if what he's about to say will change everything. "Some say Jason is still alive."
