It's Saturday and I am waiting for dad to show up to the café. On the other hand, more likely that he is going to give me an excuse for not coming. He has been a disappointment, since the day I was born. Dad was not there for my first steps or my first words. He was never there, but here he is.
"Hi, kiddo." My so-called father smiles as he sits down in front of me, in his black suit.
"Hi." I smile the same fake smile as always when I see him.
"How are you?" He asks as he takes off his jacket.
"I am fine." I answer and I take a sip of my warm coffee, but dad sighs as I put my cop back down on the table.
"Look, I know I am not the perfect dad. Your mom told me how disappointed you are with me, and I don't blame you." He says as he put his warm hand on mine. I clench my teeth uncomfortable and he notices it. So, he takes away his hand from mine.
"But, it's not easy when I have a whole other family and a big job." He explains with a sorry smile.
"Not to mention that you now live an hour away now." He smiles and I sigh as I roll my eyes.
"Do you like it here?" He wonders as he looks around the café.
"Yeah, I really do." I try to smile.
"I can see why it's a beautiful town." Dad says as he folds up his sleeves and I just nod.
"Have you made any friends?" He asks and that makes me think about Dandy. That smile just comes on my face now. Dammit.
"Not that many. I am mostly with Andrea," He seems confused.
"My cousin," I explain and he nods.
"And then I have Dandy." I grin, at the thought of her gorgeous face and amazing strong body. That girl is way too strong for me. We were in a kind of fighting this morning, not a real fight. Dandy was teasing me this morning by stealing my phone. I tried to take it away from her, but my girlfriend used only one arm to manage to keep me away from her, while I used my whole damn body to try to reach for it. Still, I couldn't make take it.
"Dandy seems special." Dad says, noticing my bright smile.
"Very special." I say with widened eyes because that word can mean a lot of things for Dandy.
"Is he your boyfriend?" He asks digging, and my mouth drops open.
"No, No!" I say, shaking my head.
"She is my girlfriend." I correct him, which makes him thoughtful and quiet. I watch him for a little while, then he shrugs.
"Can I meet her?" He asks, smiling, but seems like he expects me to say no.
"Sure, um, she is actually outside with the car." I tell him and he seems confused.
"Dandy has been struggling to keep her eyes off me since I fell through the ice." I say.
"What?" He asks, shocked.
"Oh, I forgot to mention that. Andrea and I had this deal and I fell through the ice, but Dandy saved me." I smile and he nods as he takes a deep breath.
"Okay," He itches his temple, stunned.
"Then just invite her in." Dad smile and I nod as I take out my phone to send her a message.
After a little while, Dandy steps towards us and I smile at her as I stand up. She cups my cheeks to search my face.
"Dandy, stop worrying, I am fine." I chuckle and I see her shoulders lighten after she nods. Then she looks at my dad as she lets me go.
"Hi, I'm Sean." my dad smile as he reaches his hand for Dandy, she takes it unsure and they both shake hands. Dad watches me confused again.
"Oh, god. Dandy don't talk." I inform him.
"Oh." He says with raised eyebrows, surprised, while Dandy is smiling apologetically.
"Don't do that." I say as I stand up on my toes to kiss her cheek, which turns red. Dandy watch me annoyed, which makes me laugh. I take her hand in mine, and she sit down on the chair next to me.
"So you are Dandy." My dad says and my girlfriend nods.
"Well, thank you for saving my daughter from drowning." He says gratefully, while Dandy nods still with her shy smile.
"How did you two meet?" Dad asks and I smile as I watch Dandy. I grin as I take Dandy's hand, holding it tight and she watches me with her cute little smile. The first smile she ever gave me. I tell dad about that Dandy was the only one that was nice enough to show me my classes, and then about paintball and that I have now my own gun. He seems shocked about me playing paintball, but as I said, he does not know me that well.
"Sounds like you two are having a lot of fun." Dad smiles, Dandy and I nod.
"Yeah, we do." I say and I watch my girlfriend, who is now looking around the café, with her jaw clenched. I don't know who she is looking at, but I can feel the tension in her body.
"Well," Dad is looking at his watch.
"I need to get going if I am going to come home to dinner." He smiles as he stands up, taking on his jacket again. I try to stand up with Dandy, but she is stuck in her seat. I look at her for a moment, very worried as I notice the sadness in her eyes.
"Dandy?" I say worried, and she shakes her head as she follows my lead to stand up. She looks at my dad with a slight smile as he finishes fixing his jacket.
"I promise I will call and see you more often." Dad says.
"Thank you." I tell him and then we say goodbye.
Still, Dandy seems uncomfortable as I am holding her arm. She is not even looking at me like she always does. She is staring at a woman and an older one that is sitting on the other side of the café, next to the window. The women seem maybe in her mid-twenties. She has the same hair color as me.
"Dandy?" I call her name as I shake her arm. She watches me and notices the worry. She kisses my temple, slowly.
"Why are you looking at them?" I wonder as my eyes drift back to the window, where they are sitting. Dandy does not move a muscle to answer me. Then the blond women meet our eyes, and there is nothing but fury. Dandy clench her teeth before she turns us around and starts walking with me.
"Umm, Dandy?" I say unsure, but she just keeps on moving with me.
"Dandy!" I shout and pull my arm out of her grip. Dandy steps in front of me with her teeth clenching and her eyes staring down at the ground. I rest my hands on her collarbones.
"Dandy, I care for you, but you drive me insane sometimes." I tell her and breathe.
"Your secrets..."
"There you are!" I hear an angry woman say behind me. Dandy looks intimated, staring down with only pain in her eyes.
"You can't hide n..." I turn around and watch the women, annoyed that she just interrupted me. Her eyes widen with shock, her mouth, struggling to create words.
"N-Nicole?" She says and I watch her confused.
"What?" I ask the blond woman irritated, but still, she seems stunned as she watches Dandy now. Dandy do now move anything, just standing there with the guilty in her eyes.
"Who are you?" The nameless women ask me.
"Jamie." I answer, unsure. I don't know what is going on here, but then the blond has the same anger in her eyes as she did before as she watch Dandy.
"So, you just happen to find someone else" She has tears streaming down her cheeks now.
"And what? You are just going to do the same with her?" She asks Dandy, who also has tears on her face.
"Ashely!" The older woman shouts as she comes behind the younger women.
"It was not Dandy's fault!" She says as she takes a firm grip on Ashely's arm.
"She was part of it!" Ashely cries.
"It wasn't Dandy's fault, Ashely. Nicole struggled and we all knew that." The old woman says calmly, which makes Ashely take the tears away from her cheeks.
"She could have prevented it." She argues and the older women seem speechless to that. I move behind Dandy to hide and put my arms around her. I don't know what they are talking about. It seems like I never do when it comes to Dandy's past, and I can feel the frustration in my body.
"Ashely, you need to let it go. Nicole was not the only one that suffered." The woman says and watches Dandy with sorrow. Ashely just sighs and step away in fury.
"I'm so sorry, Dandy." The old woman says before following Ashley, who seemed to be her daughter. Dandy turns in my arms and still, there are guilty in her eyes. She cups my cheeks to study me with her wet eyes.
"Dandy," She brushes my hair behind my ear.
"You need to explain something." I say worried, but she just shakes her head as she let my cheeks go. I close my eyes and sigh in disappointment.
"You know what, just fine." I say and then just turn to start walking to the car. I am getting so tired of her secrets and that she is not talking to me.
"No!" I shout as she tries to stop me with her hand on my arm. She watches me her face full of agony. It hurts to watch, but.
"Dammit Dandy!" I shout as I feel the tears fall down my cheeks. She cups my face and brushes the tears away.
"I-I..." Dandy puts her lips on mine and as always, it shuts my body down. My crying stops and I can't move as she pushes back lightly. Dandy search me, as I just stand here unmovable. Then I smile as she kisses my forehead. She holds me in her arms tightly and I grab a hold of her jacket. This is not going to work, is it? I care about her so much, and I thought I could handle her keeping this secret away from me for a little while, but now it's too much and scary.
I am still upset about Dandy that she is keeping everything away from me. We came home to me hours ago, and I haven't said a word to her. I left her downstairs with my mother, while I am lying on my bed with Maze on my chest. That tiny cat is so adorable, and cozy. He always wants attention, especially at night. He runs around making annoying noises, but now he is just cute.
There is a knock on the door and my eyes watch Dandy come in. I sigh as I turn to show her my back, which makes Maze fall for me.
"Not going to talk to you." I grumble as I feel her sit down on the bed and she brushes my hair behind my ear. Then she lays down and wraps her arm around me. I sigh annoyed, by Dandy and myself, because of her good heart and my weak heart.
"Still angry." I inform her and I feel her kiss my shoulder.
"Dandy!" I jump around as I felt her tickling me. Then her straddle me with her amazing smile as she leans down to kiss my forehead.
"Dandy," I sigh.
"You are keeping secrets from me and..." I stop talking as she put her lips on my neck, which makes me lose focus. So soft and warm. I let my hands slip into her hair, pulling it a little as I surrender to her lips on my skin. I smile of her nibbling, but it makes my eyes snap open.
"Dandy!" I shout and try to move her off, but she grabs my hands and pins them down on the pillow.
"I hate that you are so strong." I mutter, but Dandy is not teasing, she is watching me, sorry.
"Dandy, I am not in the mood for you or anything right now." I tell her. She watches me for a moment and then she nods as she moves off me. Dandy is just standing next to my bed, thoughtful. Not long after she leans down to put her lips on my forehead. Then I watch her stepping out my bedroom door. I sigh loudly. God, why did I have to have feeling for this amazing, complicated girl?
