10. Stay with me?

1447 Words
I invited Dandy over to my house and now mom is excited. She is wandering around the kitchen with a grin on her face. While we are waiting for Dandy to show up. "Mom, calm down," I chuckle of her movements in the kitchen. "Dandy, don't speak." I remind her, but still, she walks around as if a royal family is coming to dinner. "I know, sweetheart, but I have never met one of your friends before." She smiles as I sit down on a chair. It's true what she says. I struggled to find someone I enjoyed hanging out with on the last school I went to. There was not a big reason for it, I just didn't like anyone. The way I like to be with Dandy. She is helpful, kind and way too easy to like. Dandy does not need words, not like I don't want to hear her say something, but she acts with a warm and full of care. How many get to have a friend like that? Mom stops everything she is doing and look at me. "Why don't Dandy talk?" She wonders. "I don't know. She just doesn't." I shrug. I really want to know as well, but it's Dandy's choice. I have to agree with Dandy's mother though. It is a little worrying that she hasn't said a word for months now. They all know the reason, but I don't. "Okay." My mother just smiles lightly as she turns back to cooking. I smile at the sound of a knock on the door. Then I rush out the kitchen, through the living room and to the front door. "Hi." I smile bright as I open the door to see Dandy with her tiny smile. Her eyes are just on me, but that is no surprise. I take her hand and drag her after me into the kitchen where my mother is. She stops as she sees Dandy next to me. "Hi," She smiles as she comes towards Dandy to take her hand in hers. "I'm June, Jamie's mother." She says and Dandy nods softly, but a gentle smile comes on her face as she looks at me again. I smile as I roll my eyes. Mom seems confused by all of it, but shake it off. "It's nice to meet you." She says to Dandy and then rushes back to the dinner she is making. "It will take some time before everything is done. So, you two can just do whatever you like to." Mom says and Dandy and I both nod. Then I step out of the kitchen with Dandy on my tail. We end up in the living room where she is looking around until her eyes end up on me with the same smile as always. "What do you want to do?" I ask, but don't expect an answer with words. She points at her eye and then at me, then she looks around the living room on the roof. My eyes widen. "No, you can't see my room." I say nervously. It's been a month since I moved in here and my room still looks the same way. Dandy's room was clean, and I mean it was perfectly clean. Nothing on the floor and her books stood perfectly. I am just a huge mess compared to her. Dandy seems confused for a little while, but then she nods softly. Accepting my wish, but her eyes are killing me. "Fine." I mutter as I take her warm hand in mine, but she does not move as I try to make her follow me. I turn to her, and she watches me unsure. "It's okay." I promise. She is worried if I am just giving in to her. It's true, but it doesn't matter. "It's messy." I warn her as she follows me up the stairs, but she just smiles as I meet her eyes. I open my bedroom door nervously and I step into the mess before Dandy. She is looking around, curious. Then she turns to me with a smile and starts walking through the maze of boxes. She seems fascinated as she watches what stands on them. I laugh softly as it looks like she is on a treasure hunt. Then she stares a little longer on one of the boxes, confused. She picks it up and turns for me to read, Dad. I clench my teeth uncomfortable. "Umm..." I say unsure and she puts it back down in its place. "My dad is not really around," I explain as she steps towards me in worry. "He calls sometimes, but he doesn't really," Dandy is standing right in front of me. Looking down at me as if she is trying to read my face. "Care." I tell her disappointed by my own father. My parents were never married or even had a real relationship. He left my mother before any of them knew she was pregnant with me, but when he got the news, he didn't leave me for good. I barely see him anymore, because of his new family. I don't expect much from him, but I would have been nice if he called more often or even showed that he cared. He thinks he does, but it's not true at all. Dandy look at me with her hazel eyes, and there is a trace of compassion. Her hand moves slowly up to my cheek and she brushes my skin lightly with her thumb. Her softness takes the anger away, and I smile as I close my eyes. Dandy really knows how to calm me down. "Dinner!" My mother shouts and Dandy moves her hand slowly off me. After eating, we are now sitting on the couch watching a movie. Mom went to bed for about twenty minutes ago. It is getting late, and I don't know if Dandy is going to stay or drive home. I hope she is going to be here, but it's not my decision. Dandy turns to me, studying me for a little while, with tired eyes. Then she takes up her car key. Questioning me with her blue-brown eyes. "Do you have to go or do you want to stay?" I ask and then yawn. Dandy sigh as she moves her hand back down in her lap. She doesn't answer me. Maybe there is something I have missed. She seems disappointed in some way, but it is not so easy to read her right now. "Dandy, I can't understand you right now." I say honest, but she does not seem annoyed by it as she nods, aware of it. Then she stands up and reaches me her hand. I roll my eyes with a smile as I take it and she pushes me up as if I am nothing. I have to put my hands on her collarbones to keep myself from falling all over her. She stares at me so soft that it makes it hard for me to pull back from her. "Are you leaving?" I wonder, I am a little scared about her answer, but there is no nodding or shaking of her head. Dandy is just looking at me. "Are you going to stay?" I ask this time, but still nothing. It confuses me because there is something completely else she wants to hear. I have noticed when she does not hear those right words, she does not react. Not even a yes or a no. She is just waiting for me to find out. It's kind of cute. How patient, she is to me. She just stands there, looking at me with her hazel eyes. Still waiting for me as she searches my eyes. "Stay with me?" I whisper, which earns me a little smile on her gorgeous face and she finally nods. I take her hand and lead her up to my messy room. Dandy steps at first and guides me through the maze so I won't stumble. She lies down first on the bed, then I come in next to her. We just look at each other. She stares into my blue eyes and me into her brown-blue. I cup her cheek and I lean in to kiss her forehead lightly. I smile as I see her reaction. She has a small trace of confusion and stunned on her face. I just turn around and steal her arm to lay it over me. Dandy does not move, but when she does. She holds me tightly, with her forehead buried in the back of my head. I feel her warmth and breath on my skin. Most of all I feel safe.
