A yelp escaped Roxie’s lips. She jumped and spun on her bare feet to glare at the door currently being rattled by a hard knock. For just a split second, she wondered if someone was trying to break into her apartment, but then she reasoned whoever it was wouldn’t have knocked if that was the case.
