Lilith's POV

Beta June cut in aggressively. And I turned my face.

“I ordered you not to speak again! Why did you override my order?” Alpha Dragan spoke with a thick and imposing voice. His eyes captured her body from head to toe.

“I am sorry, Alpha Dragan. I won't allow this stranger to put an enmity between you and the pack.” Beta June spoke as if she had the pack's interest at heart.

But I could see right through her. All she was doing is to protect her cover from being blown.

Alpha Dragan smirked. “Lilith is not a stranger - not anymore. She just saved my life. That counted as something for me.” He spoke with my interest in his heart.

Beta June scoffed. “Don't be swayed by this one move of kindness, Alpha Dragan. You destroyed her pack, I don't think…”

Before she could finish speaking, Alpha Dragan cut in. “Enough!” The ounce of his voice was weighty. His tone passed out fear that was dominant.

Beta June froze at the impact of his voice. The saliva formed a lump in her throat and she had to gulp it in aggressively.

Alpha Dragan faced me. “Lilith, what were you about to say?” He asked me. His eyes peered into mine.

I exhaled and looked at his face. ‘I am going to definitely warn him to desist from you, Beta June.’ “Alpha Dragan, I know I am not the best person you would want to listen to. Even though I hated what you did to my pack, I would love that you listen attentively to what I am about to say. Beta June is…”

Before I could finish speaking, Beta June suddenly crashed down from the chair she was seated on.

Her action called out attention and Alpha Dragan stood up hurriedly. But I was reluctant to leave the position I was in.

I knew what she was doing - ‘Its just a camouflage and Alpha Dragan fell for it. Gosh.’ I was irritated by her actions.

“Lilith, come help me with water.” Alpha Dragan spoke aloud as she tapped on her face at the same time.

“Stay with me.” Alpha Dragan continuously said that as if she was dying. I dragged my feet on the ground to get the water.

“Be fast!” Alpha Dragan spoke with panic in his voice.

I hissed inaudibly. ‘Beta June is trying her best to cover her tracks. I promise that this won't last long.’ I grinded my teeth and brought back the water to Alpha Dragan.

Alpha Dragan sprinkles the water on her face. “Gasps!” Beta June gasped aloud for air as she opened her eyes.

“Are you okay now?” Alpha Dragan asked her. “Yes.” She managed to give Alpha Dragan a reply.

“What happened to you?” Alpha Dragan asked her.

“I don't know either. My eyes went blurry and I lost all strength.” Beta June explained.

Her words and actions were only irritating to me because I could see right through her.

“I will send for the doctor right away to check you. Maybe you’ve been overworking these days.” Alpha Dragan spoke with care.

I stared at the both of them and I couldn't help how pissed I was with Beta June. The love and care shown towards Beta June by Alpha Dragan made me wonder.

‘Alpha Dragan is definitely a loverboy. The death of his mate must have really hurt him to get this cruel.’ I thought in my head as I watched how he treated her like an egg.

Beta June enjoyed his company.

A few minutes later, Beta June was back to herself. “Lilith, what are you still doing over there? Let's go.” Beta June spoke with force while she shot a disgusting glare at my face.

I winked slowly. “Wait, Lilith was about to tell me something earlier. What was it?” Alpha Dragan wasn't going to give up any time soon.

Beta June wore a facial irritation at Alpha Dragan's words. I turned to face Alone Dragan who had fallen for deception.

“Do not worry, Alpha. It's nothing important.” I decided to keep it to myself and so, I let that out of my lips.

Alpha Dragan grunted with displeasure. “Okay. You can go.” As soon as he said those words, I left with Beta June.

When we got outside the pack, Beta June suddenly grabbed my cloth and she pulled me with force along with herself.

Her face was fierce and terrible as the wave of the wind blew her hair backwards. She finally pulled to a corner of the house.

“What were you about to tell Alpha Dragan?” Her voice was fierce while she gazed into my eyes.

I glanced at her from head to toe with disgust. “Why are you so worried about it?” I arched my eyebrows.

Beta June clenched her fist and moved closer to me. “The pack has been together before your arrival and it hasn't for once fallen apart. We are brothers and sisters here. And I want that to remain. I don't care about whatever rubbish you want to spur from that trash you call a mouth, but thread carefully. If this pack breaks apart, I will hold you responsible.” She spoke in the most deceptive manner.

And I sucked my tongue. “Did you do something terrible that if the information gets out, the pack will break apart?” I asked with a flare at her sight.

Beta June feigned ignorance. “I do not know what you are talking about. And I don't have the time for this. I am out of here.” Beta June spat on the ground with disgust and she walked away.

I scoffed with a deep pressure on my chest. It was obvious that she was scared of getting her cover blown. ‘But why would she want Alpha Dragan dead?’ A mix of confusion was all over my face.

That raised my curiosity and I am in so much hurry to know more about the pack. I left the corner and walked to my room.

After four hours, a subtle knock came through my door. “It's Alpha Dragan. Can I come in?”
