I could see the anger in Amber’s eyes as she walked over to the seat. She was gripping the laptop Ethan had gotten for her like a shield against her chest.
Her eyes stared straight ahead. Obviously avoiding mine.
And frankly, I would have preferred to leave this part of the plan to Ethan. But with Vanessa’s sudden arrival, I knew that i***t wouldn’t be able to handle it.
So I had to make a sudden decision and handle things on my own. Of course, Jamie would probably flip if he knew I was doing this, but one of us had to make the hard decision.
