I could see the cracks of emotions in Vanessa’s eyes as I stared down at her, waiting for a response.
The tension between us thickened and her left eye started to twitch. Her fake lashes began moving like weak fans as she tried to keep up the staring contest— forgetting that I was a very patient boy when it came to playing games.
Especially the waiting game. I wasn't in a hurry to crack... But she was.
"Vanessa, you know well enough that I am going to get the answers I seek." I breathed, calmly watching her. "So it's either you tell me now and I might consider ignoring it or..."
"You think you know what's at stake here, Jamie?" She finally cracked open. "You have no idea what is happening here!"
