AMBER
I blinked hard as the last trace of light faded behind me, swallowed by the tunnel I had just walked through. My chest rose and fell too fast, my heartbeat still hammering in my ears after what I had faced.
I wanted to shove the memory into the furthest part of my mind, to pretend it had never happened, but the memory lingered on in my head. However, there was also relief.
Now I stood at the mouth of a wide chamber.
The cave stretched before me, its ceiling so high. A massive stone slab stood nearby. On it were the same strange symbols that pulsed with faint light. It looked older than time itself, like it had been there long before the cave even existed.
But I didn’t have long to stare.
