AMBER I could hear Mrs Han’s voice as she gave the boys their suspension while I waited in the inner office. My heart was racing and drumming with anxiety and questions. But my guilt overpowered my curiosity. Even if I found her decision against the Everdale boys a little too extreme. Yet I dared not counter for I knew how badly I had also messed up. My fingers were wet with sweat as my own guilt washed over me in waves. To keep from straining my mind, I started pacing around the office. The walls of the Head of Department’s office, which had always felt cold to me, now also felt like they were caving in.
