CHAPTER 3 - EXTREME MAKEOVER

1139 Words
AMBER "What the hell?" My gaze moved from Zac, to Ethan, to Toby before finally landing on Jamie. The expression on their faces told me that they meant it, but hell no! I didn't want to have anything to do with the Everdale quadruplets, real or fake. "I'm not interested," I muttered and turned to leave. "You haven't heard the catch yet," Jamie frowned. "And I don't want to hear it!" I snapped. Zac grabbed me by the arm and I winced in pain as his claws dug into my skin. "I think you should listen to our proposal first." It was a statement, not a suggestion and I knew at once that I had no choice. I was at their mercy now and I had to listen to whatever twisted idea that was in their goddamn head. "First things first, we're going to provide everything you need for the period when our agreement is on," Zac started. "As much as we're not attracted to you, you'll also have exclusive access to really great s*x," Toby chipped in. "I'll pass," I muttered. "But most importantly, you'll get a chance to get back at your d**k head ex boyfriend, Mason," Ethan concluded. That was enough to pique my interest. There was nothing I wanted more in the world than giving the bastard a taste of his own medicine. But how was I going to pull that off? "It will be perfect, Amber," Ethan continued. "Mason hates us because we seem to be better than him at every single thing. If he sees us together, I can assure you that he'll lose his mind." I couldn't deny the fact that I loved where this was heading. It wasn't a bad deal after all. But I still needed to find out two important things - one, how the f**k they had found out about my episode with Mason, and two, what they stood to gain from fake dating me. "So my ex, Mason," I started. "How do you know about us?" "Gossip spreads like wildfire around here," Toby chuckled. "But seriously, did you ever think he really cared about you?" "That's enough," Ethan cut in before glancing at me. "When he sees us together at the game tonight, he will lose focus. We will capitalize on his distraction to win the hockey tournament." He paused for a second. "And trust us to make him extra jealous. It's a win-win for everyone." I thought about it for a while. What they were asking from me was a lot - selling out my school and handing them the Intercollegiate Hockey Championship Trophy on a platter of gold. With such high stakes, I would have rejected their offer. But in that moment, the faces of every single person that had mocked me at school filtered through my memory. The memories of years of constant verbal abuse and bullying echoed in my mind and I decided at once. They were not worth it. GreenField High was not worth my integrity. Hell yeah, I was doing it. "Deal," I nodded. "But I want every single word of it in writing." "We're the heirs to the throne of the richest pack in the country, not cheapskates," Zac grunted. "You don't have to worry about the money." "I don't care about your money," I shot back. "I want the duration of our agreement to be written and signed. I don't want any lasting ties to the four of you." "Fair enough," Zac shrugged. "We'll get it in writing and signed." "But don't forget that the deal ends when we leave," Ethan chipped in. I should have sensed the danger in his words, but at that moment all I could think about was the shock on Mason's face when he saw me hanging out with the quadruplets. And after all, they were here just for the tournament. After the finals tonight, they were probably going to hang around for a few days before going back to their pack, and I was never going to see them again. It was a very fair deal in my books. "I know," I nodded. "I just want it signed." "We'll arrange for that," Ethan concluded. "Good." I stood up, prepared to leave but Toby held me back. "You'll need a makeover," He said, as his eyes ran down my body. "No way we're walking around the school with you dressed like a clown." "There's nothing wrong with my dressing," I frowned. "There's everything wrong with your dressing!" They chorused. I grunted, clearly displeased by their antics but there was no backing out now. Zac made a call and a few minutes later, a lady walked into the room. He handed a golden credit card to her and turned his attention to me. "This is your stylist, Rachel," He explained. "She's going to try her best to make you look less like...you." I scoffed at his words and he blew me a kiss. "See you tonight, love." Rachel motioned for me to follow her and I did. When we passed the bartender's counter, I noticed that Stephanie was not there anymore and so I assumed that she had probably found her way home. We went to a hairstylist first. I watched from a distance as Rachel discussed with the woman in charge, and after a while, she led me to an inner section of the shop. After four long hours, she was done with my hair, and I stared at my reflection in the mirror in awe and admiration. My formerly auburn colored hair, had been dyed to a beautiful shade of black. It was smooth and lustrous, falling freely across my shoulders and for a moment, I wondered why I never thought about dying my hair. Next, she took me to a mall. Rachel spent the next two hours carefully scrutinizing every single dress before selection. It was a long and tedious process and eventually, I dozed off. By the end of our shopping, she ordered an Uber to drop me off at home. I thanked her for her help before she left and I hopped into the car, exhausted. It was already evening when I got home eventually. I spent the next hour offloading the boxes filled with clothes, shoes and designer bags. Rachel had carefully paired the clothes with matching shoes and bags in each of the boxes. Apparently, she didn't trust my combination well enough. The last box seemed a bit lighter than the rest, and when I opened it, I gaped in shock at the stunning collection of priceless diamond jewelry. I giggled in excitement as I imagined how different I was going to look when I attended the game tonight. I was no longer going to be the nerdy Amber everyone at Greenfield High knew. Everything was changing tonight.
