Chapter One
In the city of New York, where struggles are real, people are trying to meet their daily needs.
Mr. Wilson went early towards the subway along with his wife. Getting to their mini cafe, they went inside and sat down.
“s**t,” Mrs. Wilson uttered, looking at the sack of unpaid bills that got her worried.
“Honey, this is really bad for us. Our profits are gone,” she said with frustration as she threw the sack of unpaid profit.
“Calm down, okay. I, Wilson, will find a way,” he smirked.
“How, honey? Mia's birthday is coming up, and she needs to celebrate it since she was unable to celebrate her eighteenth birthday,” she uttered.
“I know something will happen, okay. Just keep cool,” he gave his wife some words of assurance.
The door opened, and a tall man in a black suit walked in, creating tension with each step he took, with a suitcase. He placed it on the table.
His red lips said, “50,000 million dollars,” and Annabelle's eyes widened and her mouth dropped open in shock.
Eleanor's POV
What's going on, huh?" I asked Mia, who suddenly was acting nice to me today. That was so unusual of her. She was my stepsister.
All she did was give me problems alongside my stepmom, but today was totally different.
"See, come on, don't you like this outfit for me and you?" She showed me one of the dresses, placing it on her body.
"Say something," she gave me a puppy eye. We were both in my room, and her niceness gave me a sense of suspicion.
But I decided to ignore it. "Come on, sis, I'm a changed person, can't you see?" With a laugh appearing on her cheeks, she crawled towards me on the bed, holding my hand.
"I know we have not been getting along lately, but now that I'm about to turn nineteen, I don't know, but I feel like I'm getting matured and I want to make things right," with seriousness written all over her face, she said.
I was still speechless, looking at what she was saying. "How do you expect me to believe you?" I asked her.
"I know it may be hard for you, but right now, I want to show you how deeply sorry I am," she lifted my hands and placed them on her shoulder, her eyes fixed on me.
“I don't think you have a second chance in my heart” I replied her
“You have too, by all means” she pleaded
All of a sudden, Ethan rushed in, as if he knew what was going on. He jumped on the bed.
"Eleanor, let's all be one. I hate the division among us," he pleaded. That was my brother, my very own blood. After his birth mom left the world and then Annabelle, Mia's mom, came into our life, with what he said, my heart melted, and I decided to give Mia a second chance.
"I agree," with tears rolling down my cheek, the three of us hugged each other. Finally, all of us wished for it to come to pass, and we are one.
We withdrew from the hug, “I'm happy huh” I wiped off the tears no more conspiracy again
“It's time for lunch, kids,” Anabelle yelled from the sitting room. I was shocked.
"Mom and dad are back from the cafe?" I asked.
“Yes, they are, very early this morning,” Ethan replied.
“Huh, that's strange. Mom and dad never joke with their business,” I said.
“Let's go downstairs, they are expecting us,” Mia uttered, making me break from my thinking.
“Shall we?” Ethan stood up in a hurry, leading the way.
Walking downstairs with me and Mia holding hands didn't surprise our parents at all. I thought they should be shocked because we often have arguments with each other.
“Come here, darling,” my stepmom pulled out a chair for me.
“Sit down,” I sat down as Mia and I broke hands. Right now, everything happening was confusing, not only Mia being nicer but her mom also.
“Here is your food,” she began dishing the food on our plates. I was still in awe of everything that was going on.
I smirked, “This is getting funny. Can someone explain what is going on?” I asked, pausing my fork from pinching the pork.
“I expected you to ask. Mia and I came to realize we are not treating you fairly, and we are trying to make it up to you. Please don't turn us down,” she said
.
“Yes, dear, give them a chance to make it up to you, okay?” Father added. I nodded and felt comfortable eating my pork.
A lot of discussion was going on, cracking jokes. “My teacher asked me if having a girlfriend is a good idea,” Ethan said.
“I told her no, that I have a lot of girlfriends,” Dad wasn't patient. “You are about to get whipped.”
“No, Dad, wait. I told her the females in my class are my girlfriends,” and everyone burst out laughing.
“God save your ass,” I uttered with a smile while eating my meal.
“Huh, Dad and Mom, I want to ask for your permission,” Mia stammered while saying, she got everyone curious about what she was about to say.
“Go on, daughter,” Dad replied, with his eyes fixed on her, everyone at the table's attention was gazed at her.
“Dad, I'm legal already, you know,” she used her puppy eyes on Dad. I knew she was about to ask for a favor by doing that.
“Go on, daughter.”
“Daddy, I want to go and have fun with Eleanor overnight at a club,” Dad was about to talk.
“Please, Daddy, say yes. I just want to make it up to her, and don't worry about the money I'm going to spend, I got a discount already. Say yes, please,” she pleaded.
Dad was still contemplating on what to say. “Honey, just allow them to have fun,” patting Dad's shoulder, Annabelle said.
“Alright then.”
“Thank you, Daddy,” Mia giggled, winking at me. All I did was look in amazement.
