Mira's POV "Wh-where am I?" I asked.  One of the nurses looked at me, and walked away quickly.  Another came up to my side.  I realized I'd been laying down, "What happened?"  "Mira, we need you to relax," she said in a calm tone, "the shaman will be with you momentarily."  "The shaman?" I asked.   She nodded, and rubbed my hand reassuringly, "you had an episode."  "Miracle," the shaman smiled warmly.  His bravado was music to my ears, and soothed me in a way, "you're awake."  "What happened to me?"  "Your wolf," he said simply, "she's trying to come forward."  'Skye?' I asked her.   It all hit me at once.  She was bothered by something.  "Now one of the omega's said that you were talking with Dark Moon when it happened?"  "Yeah," I admitted, "I was talking with the Alpha and his brother...and my wolf...Skye, sh-"  "Your wolf has talked to you already?"  I nodded, "Skye's been with me as long as I can remember." "Interesting," he nodded.  "Why is that interesting?" "Most cannot reach their wolves until they are ready to turn," he said simply.  I had partially been aware of this as I'd mentioned it once to Raphael when we were younger...but he'd advised me never to tell anyone about it, "have you been noticing anything else lately?"  "With Skye?"  He nodded.   "Well I have been noticing some weird things lately," I admitted to the elder wolf, "like when Raphael and my father fought...I stopped Raphael...but the truth is I don't know how.  I don't even remember getting there.  I just remember being face to face with my father and he was bloody.  He told me I'm a traitor like my mother because I told him it was over and to leave."  "You don't remember stopping Raphael?" he asked, "you don't remember any of that?"  "No," I shook my head, "The last bit I remembered before it all was being in the daycare, watching the pups, like father told me.  Then I felt this need to go.  Like I had to do something."  "And Skye," he asked, "do you think that she possibly did that?"  "I don't know," I admitted, "maybe.  Why can't I talk to her right now?"  "We've given you a low dose of wolfsbane," he sighed, "she's sedated.  Honestly my dear pup you had some of the nurses feeling quite uncomfortable."  "Uncomfortable?"  "You came in and your eyes were white as fresh snow," he said quickly, "you were saying something is not right...and your abilities...they were..."  "What?" I asked worriedly, "I didn't hurt anyone did I?"  "You were remarkable my dear," he said, finally siting on the foot of the bed, "I met Skye briefly.  Right before we sedated her.  She gave the poor nurse who shot her up frostbite...but-"  "Oh my," I gasped, covering my mouth with my hand.  I began shaking my head, "i didn't mean to I sw-"  "Little one, when your father said you were a gift from the moon goddess he wasn't telling you a story," he sighed, "had I not been at your birth I wouldn't believe it, but I saw first hand.  You were blessed by the moon goddess.  You were stillborn.  Your mother was one of the most determined she-wolves I knew, with friends in high places.  A witch was at your birth and convinced her to place you in the lake.  So they broke a whole in the ice, and dropped you in.  They prayed to the moon goddess all night and when the moon went down, you awoke your mother with your cries.  You sat in a mound of snow, right next to the whole.  Your black hair had turned silver, and your eyes were the bluest I'd ever seen.  You had the mark of the moon goddess.  The witch traded her soul for yours because she said that your mother deserved you, just as she deserved Raphael."  "But my mother-"  "She was living on borrowed time," he said smoothly, "I've been alive a long time.  Your mother was cursed as a child for her lineage...any children she had were supposed to have died in the womb.  She made a deal with a demon for your brother, but by the time you came along she was out of things to barter.   So she convinced a friend.  Her sister."  "My mother was a-"  "Partially," he nodded, "your grandfather was an Alpha, of the Crescent Moon pack.  The original marking of the Moon Goddess.  Your grandmother was a witch from a coven in the forest.  Mates fated by the stars, destined to be ill-fated lovers if there ever was one.  Your aunt was a high-ranking member of her coven by the time that you were born, and they bartered her soul as a debt owed to your mother from when they were children."  "Why are you telling me all this?"  "You need to be aware of the changes you will see," he warned, "while your brother has his own challenges, yours are far more intricate...a witches powers only pass through the maternal lineage.  Raphael cannot connect to that side of his ancestry.  You can.  You are a Miracle, but as delicate as a bomb if you aren't trained properly...it's why we had to contact the high elders..." "The Royals?" I asked, feeling a lump in my throat.   He nodded, "they will be here on the day of your birthday."  "What will happen to me?"  "I don't know," he admitted, "but it's best to say that you should do as your mother did and find friends in high places and put yourself at their disposal.  Because you know if they view you as a threat, your life may be cut short, Miracle."
