Chapter2

Kai's POV “Please Jenna, I can explain!” I tried to talk to her, let her see that it was all a mistake but no, Jenna wasn't ready to listen to me. She was hurt and I could understand that but I swear, I swear with my life that I had no intention to hurt her. “Get lost, Kai. I don't want to see your face!” She screamed at me and slammed the door to my face causing me to shift backwards a bit. “Jenna! Jenna!” I kept knocking but no response. She was crying, I could hear her sob but there was nothing I could do. Not when she was shutting me out. Tears rolled down my cheeks as I thought of what to do to get out of this situation. I really didn't mean to sleep with that woman. I didn't f*****g know how it happened, one minute I was in a business meeting with her, and the next morning, I woke up and saw myself in bed with her. I have explained this to Jenna again and again but she doesn't want to listen. It was a mistake, I wouldn't do it if I knew what I was doing. I had paid her a huge amount of money to keep shut and she promised to. How dare she take pictures of that sinful night and send it to my wife? How dare she? I can't lose Jenna, no matter what, I just can't. “My sweet, I won't leave here until you come out and speak to me,” I said, staring at the door as I rested on it, hoping she would come out. I waited and waited but she didn't, nor did she reply. “You haven't eaten anything, please come out so we can have dinner together, baby” I suggested. Everywhere was still silent. I didn't know whether she had slept or she was refusing to respond to me. I tried opening the door but it was locked from the inside, I remained there, sitting on the ground waiting for her to come out, to open the door. “Jen, Babe, please…” There was no sound but that didn't discourage me, I was going to stay there until she opened up. I didn't know how long it took but the door opened causing me to jerk away from it as I had almost fallen inside the room. Standing tall was Jenna, I quickly got up to my feet. I must have fallen asleep while waiting for her “Babe,” I reached out to hold her but she swung her hand away “Good morning,” she greeted me and I raised my wrist to check the time. Indeed, I had fallen asleep there, by her door. I was looking tattered but she looked neat. She had definitely taken her bath this morning. Where is she going? “Jen, babe, let's talk” “I want a divorce” I staggered back in shock as I looked at her, not believing what I just heard. My eyes were wide as I looked at her. No, no, she won't end it like that. She won't “Jen, do you know what you're saying? Do you know what you're talking about?” My eyes were teary but I refused to cry because she had to be joking “Yes, Kai,” she sniffed, “I want a divorce. I want to go. You can go to your woman, I don't care” “You're my woman!” I roared in anger. Where were all these coming from? It wasn't supposed to get to this. We were just married last year. This was our first year anniversary and we've been lovers since high school, how can this… How can something we don't yet understand break us apart? “Jen,” I tried to calm myself, “Listen, I know you're upset. Your reasons are valid too but we can talk this out and we can settle it. Our love is stronger than this. Please, babe, please,” I went down on my knees as I pleaded, I'll do anything as long as she forgives me. “I swear, I'll never do it again. I swear” Tears rolled down my cheeks but Jen turned her head to the other side, “I'm sorry, Kai,” her voice broke, “I can't live with a cheat” A cheat? Me? I have lived my life for her, since I met her, my whole world has changed and she called me a cheat. I was going to speak when she interrupted me, “Go get ready, we're going to court for the divorce” She walked away before I could even speak another word. I knelt there, staring at the woman I called my own. The one I have looked out for ever since we became a couple, right from high school “Jenna…” My voice is weak. I didn't bother to go inside to freshen up, I followed her, calling her attention. She can't mean it, she doesn't. Well, I was so wrong. I was very wrong because even though I wasn't dressed and I was looking like s**t, Jenna didn't mind when she agreed that I could go to court that way with her. All she wanted was the divorce, all she cared about was the divorce. I know she hates cheaters and womanizers, she always tells me about it. But I wasn't one. I made a mistake, a mistake that I don't even recall until I woke to see the b***h beside me. “Mr Malakai, please sign here” the lawyer handed the pen over to me. My eyes welled as I looked at Jen’s signatures already on the paper. I swallowed as I looked at her, she turned her face away With a heavy heart, I reached for the pen and signed the paper. I handed the divorce papers and the pen back to the lawyer and breathed in and out Turning to face Jen, I let out a bitter smile, even though she wasn't looking, I still spoke, “You want your freedom, you have it. I'll always give you anything you want. Take this too, because it's the last I'll give. I hope you're happy, Jen. I really hope you made the right decision”
