THE FOOTBALL SCREENING PROGRAM

Obinna was attending football training occasionally, he was not very active in training anymore because of the labourer work, but he doesn’t joke with the church programs. Olisa, one of Obinna’s friend and team-mate came to pay him a visit one evening, he told Obinna about a football screening that was organized by the Nigerian Youth Football Association(N.Y.F.A), it was set up to get young and talented footballers who will participate in forth-coming U-17 Youth Championship in Ghana; Obinna was very interested to join the screening program, but he was disappointed when Olisa told him that he needs to register with the sum of Twenty Thousand Naira, he also explained to him that the deadline day for the registration is the next five days because of the numerous players registering for it, Olisa went on to reveal to him that his rich uncle has registered for him. Obinna thanked him for the important information. Obinna later told his parent about the screening program, and they gave him their support, although he didn’t tell them about the registration fees, because he knew the situation on ground. The only money he had on him was Two Thousand Naira, he went round to borrow, and he could only get Four Thousand Naira from his four good friends. A lady residing within Obinna’s locality saw his movement and called him to know his problem, Obinna told her about the registration fees, and the lady promised to give him Ten Thousand Naira if only he could have s*x with her, Obinna rebuked her and ran away from her apartment. Obinna went to the Call-centre and call his rich uncles, begging them to help him, but they faked many stories for him, telling him that they had many family issues to solve; Obinna became confused and stranded, he looked for menial job, he couldn’t find one at the moment, it is now two days to the registration deadline, he decided to meet Coach Kelechi, luckily for him, his coach gave him Five thousand naira. Obinna now have the total sum of Eleven thousand naira on him, his heart was beating very fast, he didn’t know where to get the remaining Nine thousand naira from, he remembered his church pastor, he quickly went to his house, he nearly fainted when they told him that the pastor went for a crusade in Togo, and he couldn't reach him on telephone. A day to the deadline date, Obinna started thinking about many things, he was really in a deep thought when he remembered his school Principal, Mr. Akinsola Collins. The principal of Saint-Patrick Secondary School, Onitsha, was a very good man, he is in good term with Obinna, especially for his good academic records and skills in sport, Obinna has won many awards and trophies for the school, and he decided to visit him. On his way to his former principal’s house, a motorcycle knocked him down, although the motorcyclist was not really at fault, because Obinna was really in a deep thought when he walked into the moving motorcycle without looking, he went down unconscious and he was rushed to hospital for immediate treatment.
