TWO
I moved so fast that I approached the man and touched his uniform which opened his blue eyes. He frowned and looked down at me. I gripped the sleeve of his uniform tightly.
"Who are you?" he asked with astonishment obvious in his voice.
Is that the first thing to say? Who am I? He should have said ‘why did you stop me?’. Isn't it?
"Why are you jumping? Are you going to kill yourself?" I answered differently. Who I am isn't important as of now. His situation is more important than that question.
His eyebrows furrowed even more. Did I say anything to make him react like that? Contrary to my expectations?
"I'll jump? Who said — oh! You thought who-you-are-girl that I'll jump to end my life?" He plastered a smirk on his face.
I frowned again at what I heard. Nothing I let go of my right hand gripping his sleeve. Did I make the wrong impression in the first place? Argh! You don't get it right away, Two? Use your smart head when it comes to this. A word of my own in mind. I know! I know!
"Got it! You're wrong, I'm not jumping but to feel the breeze of air. I'm not stupid to take a damn suicidal thought," he said again. He was so upset that it seemed as if something was happening. What if I push him? To feel that he really felt what had happened.
"I know, I know." I turned around and took a step, I knew he wouldn't commit suicide so the good thing to do was get out of here. Sure, I’d better spend time in the library while waiting for class time. It would be here but the case there's someone in here.
I stopped at what he asked. "You know what, you look so familiar? Have we met yet?"
My two eyebrows rose. Have we met yet? Of course, as what is happening now and a minute ago.
I faced him without smiling or raising an eyebrow at him. A casual face in front of this man. "Yes," I said seriously.
He didn’t seem to expect that to be my answer. Only now did I notice his height and I was just below him.
"When and where?" he said with a look that was staring at me as if I had done something unpleasant to him. Whatever.
"Here, where else? In another world?" I let out sarcastically.
“I ask you properly so answer me nuggets properly,” he said in words. The look in his eyes deepened. I could feel him staring at me as well as my soul. He's creepy.
What did I answer? Wrong? I don't want to waste my time on this — I stared at him from head to toe back at his well good looking face— creepy guy in front of me. He did not wear an I.D so I don’t know what his name is and which section he belongs to.
He stepped closer to me. Nuggets? As far as I know I ate nuggets, mommy usually cooks when we are at home.
"I'll give you a proper answer, Mister. We only met now as I remember." He stopped in front of me three steps away. He bowed and looked me in the face as if he was worried about me.
He frowned as he settled down facing me. "It seems we met each other but I didn't know where and when. Nonsense ..." He shook his head as he passed me and left.
He’s creepy actually. I glanced at the roof deck door where the creepy guy passed. I admit that the first time I saw him it was like I knew him. I feel like he is no stranger to me. Now I'm getting weird, and the worst creepy. I shook my head and decided to stay here. There is no one else but myself. It would have made it better to leave so that I could have independence in this place.
Poke. Poke.
I turned at my back when someone poked my shoulder. The big smile of a woman white as r****h. What does she need?
"Yes?"
"Did you see Hajin?" she asked. I looked down at her I.D. with a picture of her smiling broadly. The earth color of her hair is tied up.
Caselyn Sy. I read his name in my mind. Sy? What is her relationship to Dedric Sy?
"Who are you?" I asked her again which surprised her for a moment. I rolled my eyes inside the cafeteria. The tables were filled around and there is a vacancy on the side near the cafeteria window where I put my bag and five books. There are three vacant seats there. I also have no intention of sharing my table unless I’m with Shackie.
"I'm Cassidy Sy, Hajin's half sister. Someone told me that she saw you talking with him around 7:40 A.M. Do you know where he is? I need to talk to him," she said in a gentle voice.
My arm and hand are already clinging to the serving tray, full of the food I bought. Lunch time. Earlier my stomach was growling because I hadn’t been able to take a break before. Next time I'll choose to buy snacks rather than sleeping when I eat less at breakfast. Here is what I suffered.
I turned my attention back to what she said. Who is perfect in this world? All people commit something called sin. I can't justify Hajin's mother or father for doing an act. They are living and I am not part of the effect. She's waiting for your answer Two. That's enough thought.
Here comes the other voice of myself.
"He went to my friend to help. He hadn't been to class before." I wanted to release my grip which was my hands slowly numbing.
I just ignored the way the students looked at us because we were standing here in the middle of the cafeteria.
"Ai ..." she said as if she had lost her strength. "Thanks, please let him know I'm looking for him when you two meet." She gave me a miserly smile which I nodded in response to her.
"Thanks again and sorry to cause inconvenience to you," she said finally and left in the open door of the cafeteria.
My two eyes saw that she approached a man who looked like he had been waiting outside. My eyes widened slightly when I saw the face of the man. The man on the roof deck earlier. The creepy guy.
The two talked for a while when they left. My eyes caught the man's glance at me with his disgusted look. What does that look for?
I shrugged my shoulders and walked heavily to my table. When the tray landed, there was a sudden commotion. What's up? Immediately my eyes went to a crying woman sitting on the cafeteria floor with her uniform blouse soaking wet. In front of her were three women with goddess-like faces. One of them in the middle was holding a can of soda drink. The woman's face was full of smiles and evil as her long straight hair was as golden as a gold.
"You filthy rotten b***h! Are you happy now of what you've done to my precious shoes! Ghad! You should know it's worth more than your worthless life!" The woman's voice was full of anger.
Seriously? She did that to the pity girl over her shoes? What about the shallowness of it? I looked at her shoes with a barely see dirt. You can clean it in less than a minute. I can’t hide my annoyance with the woman because of it. Of course, when full of self-pride they can look like as if they are the owner of the world. If ever Shackie sees this? She won't bother to kick the lady's ass. It is better not to have here bere because—
"Lynn?" A familiar voice I heard in the surrounding noise. I hope I just heard it wrong and it wasn't my friend's voice.
But I was wrong, I saw her walking in the cafeteria including her grim face. Next to her is Hajin? with annoyance on the face. Who is Lynn? Don't tell me that girl crying silently on the floor.
I slowly lowered until my ass was against the seat of the plastic chair. Thank goodness it's not hot around like the old school I went to. I better eat while watching what happens. I picked up the burger without taking my eyes off the center of the cafeteria’s attraction.
Shackie approached the sitting crying woman and badly looked at the three women in front of her. Hajin stood up to the woman Lynn. That’s the name I heard Shackie say. There was a sudden silence all around.
"Why did you do this to my cousin?" My friend's words were full of emphasis. Not a trace of emotion took over the faces of the three woman, the low look remained on the three.
"Who are you, b***h?" The woman with blonde hair asked in disgust. One of her right eyebrow arched upward. Shackie glanced from head to shoe and back at her face.
"Don't call me a b***h because I'm not like you." She gave them a death glare which caused the three to feel annoyed.
"Don't throw that word back to me, b***h! Do you think I'll be afraid of you? You are wrong, very wrong. My father is the principal of Southern Academy. One of the major stockholders in this school." Not only is she poor, she is also prideful. Even if maybe my parents were like so rich but I would never be like this woman.
Why does the cafeteria burger taste so good? Their beef patty tastes delicious. So juicy and savory.
"Yeah, you said the wrong thing to our bestie. She's not a b***h like you," sang her two friends.
Shackie's face showed annoyance. His two palms were clenched so that at any time she could fly them into outer space when her patience fused.
"I'm fine, Allaine. Let them go," Lynn uttered at Shackie.
"Lynn's right, My Love," Hajin agreed as he helped Lynn.
"Shut up, Hajin. You have no right to call me my love," Shacki stressed in the last two words. She turned to Hajin with burning eyes.
It looks like the two of them are going to fight. Suddenly a the school bell rang around.
"If you don't want to call me my love, let's just go and end this hall of fame," Hajin said. He gave her a sweet smile that boils Shackie's blood.
"Ok! Fine!" she said loudly to Hajin who was pleased with the latter. Victory, Hajin huh?
"Who said it's done?" words of the woman who sang in protest in their voice.
Shackie faced the woman with a masked smile. "Oh well, we're not done yet. I almost forgot to let you know that you've been expelled from school with your two caterpillars." The eyes of the two widened at what Shackie said and her smile widened even more as the surroundings resounded.
"How could you say that?" The blonde woman's said in disbelief..
"How can I dare say that? Haven't you heard that I am the only daughter of the owner of this school? Maybe it would be nice if I could introduce myself to you," —she looked at the girl's ID— "Victoria Erish Caswell. Shackie Allaine Daziel by the way.”
The jaws of the people inside the cafeteria dropped at what they heard along with the three women except me. I sipped the milk tea. Their milk tea is milky, its blend is perfect.
"No, don't joke us," the woman laughed raw.
"Let's see," Shackie winked at once and turned away from the two. "Nice meeting you three, we'll see if we meet again." Shackie tone is threatening.
"Let's go, Hajin and Lynn. I'm done here," she said, happy with what happened. "Get ready for me, Lynn, for what you said when you're not well." She turned to the woman next to her.
I never heard what Lynn said because they were far from my hearing. There was a few seconds of silence until the three of them left the cafeteria. The surroundings roared with rumors and various reactions. The three women stared at where they stood.
I continued to eat when I felt the surroundings staring at me. My forehead furrowed. What does that staring for?
"She was her friend, the woman who said she is a Daziel , I saw them yesterday at the mall together," exclaimed the woman at the third tables in front of me where they are.
“Let’s ask her,” some students said. Wait, i think they are going to interrogate me? I think I gotta go now.
Before one of them could approach, I quickly left faster than four o'clock with my book and the backpack slung over my right shoulder. Even in the hallway I ran as if I am chased by a madman. Crazy students. Will they even mess up my personal space? How rude they are. If they want a clear answer, ask the teachers or the principal for that. Not me.
Gradually my run slowed down and it became a walked. I hate running in no time. I held my breath as I stopped in front of my locker. On the first floor is the locker room near the computer lobby. I was about to open the locker when I heard the book fall to my right and turned my gaze to the man who had picked up his fallen book on the floor of the locker room. I was three meters away from him.
But I didn’t expect a shuriken he throw at me that I almost hit. It's good that I blocked it by the book I was holding. What is his problem? Is he planning to kill me?
"Why did you—" What I was about to say was cut short by another three strange design and color of the knife she throws at me. I quickly pulled away.
Earlier shuriken and now knife? It doesn't seem like a joke anymore because the guy thinks differently of me. Am I see seeing what I see? Did his eyes turned red. His face was serious as he approached me.
"Target detected."
