TWO
Shakie had been fidgety ever since our teacher began to introduce him in front of the class. What exactly is going on with her?
The man that walked into the room with our instructor was the one she despised the most since he is the man she will marry as soon as she becomes eighteen, which will be in a few months.
Shakie despised her life as much as others admired it, and she was particularly resentful of their family's arranged marriage. She is a young girl, and she had no choice but to follow the wishes of her parents. If Shakie were most likely a guy, she would have had the opportunity to select her own path in life, but unfortunately, she is a woman.
"What is he doing here in the first place? Argh! I’ll make sure Momma must prepare to pay for this. I'm absolutely certain she's behind this," she said to herself, but I could still hear her. Even the person who is sitting next to her, with a furrowed brow, was aware of what she was saying.
I leaned closer to her. As a friend of hers, I have a responsibility to fulfill. I wanted to piss her off—I mean, comfort her.
"Stop having that private conversation with yourself, Shakie. Don't you feel a little sorry for your seatmate, though? The fact that you're doing this has gotten his attention," I said to her.
“Please refrain from interfering in my personal life, Two. You understand that I am not in a good mood right now." She made a hissing sound.
"Yeah, yeah, I understand. You're under no obligation to inform me," I blurted out as I sat down properly in my seat.
She gave me a snarl and then a smirk before rolling her eyes. I stomped on her chair, which prompted her to look at me. Using my pointer finger, I pointed in the direction of her future husband, Hajin Dane Alforte, and gave her my caustic smile. He's preoccupied with listening to the lecture of our new teacher, Mrs. Samonte, who took over Mrs. Dela Torre after she transferred to another school.
She then gave me a piercing stare. It's a victory for me. "Can you tell me what the hell your problem is, Two? What you're doing isn't helping," she responded, adjusting her position in the chair.
"Stay quiet," the man next to Shakie said, not even bothering to look at me.
Remain quiet, I'm not even making a sound, so why should I keep quiet? I leaned against my seat to pay attention to him more intently.
I walked out of the room with the straps of my bag wrapped around my shoulders on either side. The fact that it's break time indicates that we still have 15 minutes till the start of our next lesson. Shakie was the first to go, and she did so while conversing on the phone with her mother. I'm sure she's enraged right now.
“Two!” When someone screamed my name as I was approaching Shakie, who had her phone still in her ears, I came to a complete stop.
I walked around the corner. The big smile that was pasted on Hajin's face as he walked near me caught my attention. Speaking of him, he became a buddy of mine because my mother and her mother were related through their mothers, in short, his my cousin.
"Hey, Jin," I said and gave him a friendly wave. "Are you planning on going to Shakie?" I questioned, looking in the direction of Shakie, who had her back turned against us.
"I really hate you, Mom!" Shakie said something, which I overheard. That was the reason why the five females passing by her stopped and looked at her, she said out loud.
"No, she's not in the mood to piss her guts out," he stated. "She's completely fed up with the fact that I exist." And his grin widened even further. Hajin had a penchant for piling on her, something she despised the most.
A hit on his stomach caused him to flinch in pain. "Can you tell me why you do that, Two?"
"It's for what you've done to my friend, i***t," I explained. I refer to him as "i***t" since I know how much he despises being referred to as such.
See? The expression on his face grew more depressing. "Please stop calling me an i***t because I am not!" He was being overly defensive.
"I know, I know, you're just telling a falsehood.” I greeted him with my most obnoxious smile.
"Shut up, Two," he said as he walked away from me.
"Just do what you said, Hajin," I said in response to his request. He looked at me with a scowl on his face.
"Hello, Love..." Shakie received a friendly greeting from Hajin as he passed by her.
Shakie gave him her irritated death glare as she turned her gaze away.
"Love your face!" Shakie yelled angrily at the top of her lungs. Hajin merely smiled and winked at her as he walked away.
In a split second, Shakie flung her phone in the direction of Hajin, prompting him to hurriedly walk away. When she reached for her phone, it smacked into the wall beside the stairwell. As it hit the ground, it shattered into parts.
"You cretinous cretin!" Shakie erupted in rage.
"Do you have any idea how to speak value, Sha?" When I arrived at her side, I let out a loud exclamation.
Her face was painted with a mixture of anger and displeasure, with no trace of joy in it. She turned her gaze away from me, and there was no trace of a smile on her face.
"I couldn't give a damn about that value bullshit. ” she tattled. “Ah! Right now, I'm craving a big plate of french fries and a bowl of qwek qwek." And her demeanor changed all of a sudden. As she clutched to my arms, I could see the delight on her face, and I smiled back.
"Two, let's go outside the school together. I discovered a*****e that sells qwek qwek, so let's head to Jollibee and get some french fries."
"Hey there, wai—" Her sudden grab of my arm and start walking away gave me no time to say anything. I was speechless.
Shakie was enjoying her qwek qwek and french fries while I was sipping my tea from my disposable plastic cup. I was under the impression that we'd made it at Jollibee. Have you seen this place? Qwek qwek, fish balls, french fries, and burgers are available at this modest store. It's also a little bit interesting. With my beef burger in hand, I removed it from its white plastic wrapping and ate it in silence. We're the only ones who've come to eat here.
"This is pretty good!" Her lips were painted in a wide curve. Great! She ate three qwek qwek and two small boxes of french fries in four minutes, all of which were consumed in four minutes. Even if I haven't even finished half of my burger.
When she reached for my ice tea, my brows were lifted. She drank it all and then returned it to the location from whence she had taken it.
"I'm not satisfied with what you did to my tea, Sha," I mumbled under my breath as I gave her a deadly gaze.
"Don't be selfish, Two, you have two cups of tea." I drank the same thing that you've previously drunk," she explained.
"I know, I know," I whispered under my breath.
When she remembered something, she wrinkled her brows in surprise. I'm curious as to what it is. She looked at me with a sparkle of grief in her eyes. And for what purpose are those stares?
"Would you like some milk, Sha?" My features were painted with a stern expression.
She made a shaky motion with her head. What exactly is her issue? This young lady looks like she suffers from a bipolar disorder of her enactment.
"Qwek qwek?" I offered and she shook her head once more.
"Do you want French fries?"
She made another shaky motion with her head.
"Here, have my tea," I replied as I handed my tea to her.
And she shook her head once more, for the fourth time. I'm starting to become perplexed as to what she's trying to accomplish. I scrutinized her features with great care. It was still the same, there was still a look of grief on her face, and her hair was still a tangle of tangles.
Aha! I'm quite aware of it!
"Has your stomach been bothering you? Wait a minute, I have a loper—" I was just about to get the medicine in my bag.
"Two, my phone..." She broke down and sobbed. I took a glance at her. "It's not working."
And here she is, wailing like a little girl in front of the whole world. She's a little too shallow. And she is the one who is to blame for her phone's destruction. If she had merely used her common sense, her phone would not have vanished in such a manner. She appeared to be incapable of using her intellect at times.
"And who is to blame for this?" I sat my hands on the table with my palms facing each other.
"It's Hajin! That obnoxious piece of a man. I despise him to the depths of my soul, to the very depths of my being!" She is enraged as she utters each and every syllable that comes out of her lips. She's placing the fault on the innocent, helpless young man who was not at fault. I couldn't help but shake my head.
As I stared at her and nodded my head. “I realized that it was his fault. He threw it in his direction, which is why it hit the wall and the phone became completely ruined when it fell to the floor.”
“Two! You've changed your mind and now support your cousin's side. Considering that I'm your friend, I should be the one who has you should support in this matter." She went so far as to point herself.
"I'm just nodding my head in agreement with you, aren't I? You should be relieved because I'm blaming Hajin for what he did to your phone," I replied nonchalantly, a smile on my face as I looked her in the eyes.
"You're absolutely correct," she agreed.
I continued to eat as she was preoccupied with her book reading. She's whistling Ed Sheeran's Perfect song. My attention was drawn away from the two boys who were making their way towards the store.
Isn't it true that they're both members of the Phantom Gang? What is the purpose of their visit here? When they walked into the store and looked at me, their expressions were serious.
"I had an idea, Two!" While her gaze was fixed on her maths textbook, Shakie exclaimed with delight.
"Can you tell me what it is?"
"Please allow me to borrow your phone. The next thing I'm going to do is contact my mother and ask her to get me a new phone. She may be concerned about why she is unable to contact me at this time." She gave me a sideways glance before returning to what she was doing.
“Okay.” Then I removed my phone from the pocket of my skirt and gave it over to her.
