MARGIE
I can’t stand to see Wyxia being hurt by the queen. Even if I wanted to go out from where I’m hiding to save her but I can’t. I admit that I’m scared of the queen and I know she can kill me in the council of Osetra with the deceitfulness she’ll put against me. Why did she even have to be the queen? If only Thiara did not die, she’s been the one who will inherit the crown of her mother.
Who’s a fool to believe that Thiara died from sickness? I know that she’s no serious illness. I know that it was all made up of fraudulent lies. A huge lie!
“Answer my question. Where is she!” The queen standing in front of Wyxia raged in anger. Wyxia’s hands were tied with a chain made of steel while being pinned against the hard wall of the cage found inside the palace.
I’ve been perplexed since earlier about what the queen is saying. Who’s the person she’s looking for? Is she sure that Wyxia knows what she’s talking about?
Wyxia’s arms and legs were fraught with wounds and bruises as well as her beautiful face. She was kneeling in front of the queen. A smile escaped on her swollen lips. “Why would I tell you?”
“You! Do you want me to make you suffer for more? You know that I never wanted to punish you!” The queen hissed.
She shook her head in disbelief as she looked into her eyes. “I don’t believe you from saying that, my twin...” What Wyxia said left me in shock.
Twin? She’s the twin of the queen? If that’s the case then how? Their faces were not even identical—
“Twin? We’re not twins! Kambal? I’ve already repudiated long ago that we have the same blood! That you’re my twin!” Her voice was fraught with wrath.
“But you’re wrong that I will forget about it. I will never have the guts to give up what we have between us. And you will still be my twin even if your greed changed your whole being.” Wyxia’s voice was somber.
I saw the queen knelt to equal their level. She lifted her face to make her look at her. She then gave her a horrifying smirk. The queen looked like she had gone insane with that kind of face. I just noticed that they were alike if their eyes have the same colors. If the queen wasn’t brunette, if her golden hair was black, and if her blue eyes were dark blue, they will be perfectly alike. But their body figures and the shape of their face were the same except for the mole Wyxia has on her chin.
“If that’s your decision, I don’t care. Maybe with the use of the strand of your hair and hers, I’ll find her. Don’t worry for she will be killed in front of you.” She took off her hands from her face, stood straightly, and turned around.
The queen stepped towards the door of the cage. I thought she’ll take her to leave when I heard her footsteps stopped at the door. I got nervous thinking she had realized that I am here. I am hoping she has not.
“All secrets can be kept hidden, Wyxia. And they will always stay as secrets until I die,” she stated before leaving.
I sighed in relief. The queen was gone. I should get Wyxia out of here. I went out from where I was hiding. Wyxia averted her gaze on me and shock was written on her face. I don’t know anything about her except from what I’ve heard earlier about the connection she has with the queen and for being my nanny for nine years.
“Have you been there for so long?” she asked.
“Three hours already. I went through the secret passage to come here that’s why she failed to notice me,” I clearly answered. “I will get you out here.”
I stopped in front of her as I took the duplicated key that I asked the key maker to make.
“Don’t flee me from here, Margie.” My eyes slightly grew wide as I looked at her.
“Why?” I don’t have any idea why she told me that. If I was on her shoe, I’ll be glad that I can get out of this sad place.
She got on her knees and smiled at me. What was that for? “Wyxia, why?” I asked in a perplexed tone.
“I want you to go now and go to Delrux—“
“Delrux? Isn’t he the wicked scientist? Why—“ She cut me off.
“You’re wrong. My brother is a kind person and you can trust him. Your queen only lied on what she said about Delrux,” she said filled with sorrow. Can I still process everything that I’ve learned in my mind? I was really getting confused right now. Who am I going to believe?
“Margie... I’m begging you.” She held the lower part near the edge of my long gown. I turned to myself and lowered my gaze to her whose pale face was pleading.
“What is it?” I hesitantly said. I bent down to have the same level on her face. She put her hands on the opposite sides.
“Tell Delrux the word two and he knows what it means. He will be the one to explain what you are going to do.” She held my right hand. Should I do what she asked me two? I don’t know.
“For the safety of Thraia, Margie.” She looked at me. For Thraia? What does she mean?
“For Thraia?” I am already confused. It’s impossible that Thraia is still alive—or my presumption from the beginning is totally right?
“Don’t tell me...” She nodded.
“But how?” I asked.
“Let Delrux explain everything to you. Go now before they catch you.”
“How about you? The two of us should leave here.” I was about to put the key in the padlock when she shook her head.
“No, it’ll be better if I’m here so that the queen won’t think of anything. Go now!” She pushed me so that I will leave now.
I quickly stood up and stepped in the direction where I came from earlier. I glanced at her and saw the smile on her face. Who are you really, Wyxia?
The secret door opened so I went in there. I almost run my way out of the dark and narrow path until I reach its end part. I opened the door and a blinding light welcomed me. I blinked several times until I got used to the light.
“Where is she, Margie?” Alliana asked. She closed the door while I wearily sat on a chair made of rock.
“Lady Margie? Where is she?” she asked again?
I shifted my gaze on her whose standing in front of me and her hands are on each side of her waist. She’s wearing a flowery blue gown. Her long red hair was untied that was paired with a hairpin with a rose on its side. She looked at me with a furrowed forehead.
“She doesn’t want to,” I mumbled. It’s even hard for me to process everything I’ve learned. Why can’t I even move on from the revelations I’ve learned?
“Huh? But why? Tell me, Lady Margie, what happened?” She held my arms and made me faced her direction.
“That was what she wants, to stay there, Lady Alliana. We can’t do anything with her decision. Is the occasion wasn’t finished yet inside of the palace?” I asked, diverting the topic. She took her hand off me. She looked at me with a sad face.
“Why? Was there any reason for her? Aunt Wyxia is a good person, Lady Margue... She shouldn’t be imprisoned for a crime she didn’t do.”
“We can’t do anything if she really doesn’t want to!” I can’t understand why I just suddenly raised my voice which made her shocked.
“I beg for pardon for what I did,” I said without directly looking at her.
She sighed. “I understand, Lady Margie. It’ll be better if we’ll now go inside. Our parents might be looking for ys now. I will accept Wyxia’s decision even if it’s against my will.” She forced a smile in front of me and so do I.
