We are going to Nathan's for a quiet dinner and to celebrate my birthday today.

I don't know, but I can sense that something is up. Since the moment Rose came, I don't know....  she has been acting weird. It's just not the usual her. She's being hyper and super excited. I don't know what's up.

"Amara.....  What..... what are you thinking?" she asked in a tone that tells me something is up.

I am thinking about you. What's up? and don't you dare lie to me. I know you are not telling me about me.

And before you even think to lie I want to tell you that I know when you lie, so don't even pretend.

"Ummm...... Amara..... I.... I.... uh-huh.... it's nothing..... just that... I am uh-huh..."

Just tell me Rose. Did something happened. Tell me is it about work or what? I asked her in panic, because the way she was behaving and the amount of time she is taking to tell I can tell that something is definitely up.

Rose

I don't know how do I always mess up. Nathan would be so angry if I spoil the surprise party and there is no way that I can lie to her about the party. I am just stuck. I don't know what to tell Amara.

Rose.......  she called my name in a stern tone which tells me she is no mood for excuse and she wants to know what is up and I can't tell.

"Alex!"

Alex who your on and off boyfriend. What about him? Did something thing happen? I thought you two were done this time, said Amara asking a ton of questions.

Yeah. Alex, my ex boyfriend. He just met me a few days back. He wanted us to get together.

"No way.....  Rose. You didn't just hooked up with him again. I am hearing wrong or is it a dream. You said it the last time that it was over. Done for good." said Amara in a shocked or what you call a horrified expression.

What am I doing? This was supposed to be a simple surprise birthday party invite for Amara and it somehow came to me on my personal life with Alex. I didn't want to discuss Alex with anyone for now. I know it sounds weird and odd my status with Alex but we are somehow connected I feel or I connect with him on a level that I don't with anyone else but I don't know.....

Alex and me just click together perfectly. What we have and the connection we have, says it all. We just have the chemistry that we both can't ignore.

How can I explain this to Amara. How can I explain my feelings to her when I am also confused. And how do I convince her and somehow take her to Nathan's house without her suspecting anything about the party.

If she finds out than Nathan will kill me for spoiling the surprise.

What do I do... just when I was lost in my thoughts and forming appropriate reasons for the problem that I have created here, I hear my phone ring, as if on time Nathan calls me, saving me from the trouble and buying me some more time.

"Wait a second Amara, I will answer everything, I just need to take this call, it's important," with that being said I took a breathe of relief and came out of the room to answer the call, leaving a flabbergasted Amara behind.

"Rose, don't tell me you f****d up the surprise, you both are taking forever, people have been coming in, where are you both?" came the booming and dominating voice of Nathan on the other hand.

Nathan, I don't know how but she thinks that something is up and I somehow told her about Alex and she is waiting for answers and I don't know what to do.

"What did you tell her and wait... Alex what about him. I thought you were done with him." he said sounding more confused than Amara.

Shit I've told him also, God what is happening today and how am I messing everything up. The one thing that I thought to keep it low for sometime and figure out, but somehow I ended up telling both of them.

I knew they would react this way and that was the reason I didn't want to tell them for now. I don't know how will I go through this night without both of them being wanting my head on a steak.

"Rose,  Rose......  are you there. Tell me what about Alex, you told me last time that it was over between you two and you were done for good, what the f**k Rose, what happened," he asked in a demanding tone.

Nathan, my life and my relation with Alex is not important. Amara is waiting inside for an explanation. It's her day and we have decided for the party that we don't want to spoil for her. I will tell you everything about Alex and me tomorrow I promise. Please.... just help me now, I said in a one go.

"Ok.. hold on, we are going to discuss everything tomorrow and you better have a good explanation.

Don't tell Amara about this party, just act normal, like you are always when you come to my house. Get her ready and tell that it's getting late and I am waiting for you both." he said calming me and taking deep breaths, seems like I've been stuck deep in this conversation that I don't want to be in.

I calmed myself before going inside, taking deep breaths and preparing myself of what I am going to say to Amara without messing it up this time.

"Rose, are you alright," she asked.

Amara I am alright and please don't worry about me and Alex. I am fine and it's not something that I can't handle. Just get ready we are already late. Nathan is waiting for us. Come on get ready.

"Ok... ok... just a few minutes more. I've done the makeup I only have to wear the dress." she said while searching for some casual clothes.

What the hell are you wearing and what make up you have done? I demanded as she is clearly out of her mind.

What girl wears casual denims to her own party, even though we have arranged it secretly, I said to myself shaking my head in disbelief.

Amara you are not wearing these. You are wearing.... my designs that I personally designed for you, I said while searching her closet for the clothes and some jewellery.

"Rose, it's just a dinner," pouted Amara like a baby.

No.. I will not be tricked by your innocent face and these puppy eyes with these pout of yours. No you dress as a girl dresses for her birthday party. We expect nothing less.

"But it's the two of you, I don't want to dress all the fancy clothes you've given me" she said again failing miserably to convince me.

Amara! You are wearing what I am giving and we have do this fast. Nathan will be pissed if we don't reach on time, I said while matching the heels and getting the makeup palette.

"Uhh.... Rose.... I think you are over doing it. We are going for a party. It's too much for a simple dinner,"said Amara.

It's your birthday and I don't want you to celebrate it in casual clothes, even if there is the two of us. You need to look like birthday girl, I said while giving final touches and assembling all the accessories.

Go check yourself by the mirror, you are looking breathtakingly beautiful. Golden colour suits you really well. I must say you look like you are attending a party.

As I checked myself in the mirror, I really am stunned by how beautiful I am looking, the golden sleeveless dress ending mid thigh with the no make up look and the heels really looks perfect. It all came together pretty well. I like how this dress fits me as is customized for me. It makes me feel like those high class parties that we can only watch on award functions and celebrity parties and get a peek of the beautiful costumes and dresses.

"Amara... what happened? Is that tears that I am seeing" came the voice of Rose from behind me.

These are tears of joy. This dress is beautiful and I look as if I am some sort of celebrity. Thank you for this dress and everything, I said while hugging Rose, she has been an amazing friend and support.

"No crying, you will spoil the make up and come on Nathan is waiting for us," she said while holding my hand and dragging me out of the house.

I'm nervous as I am going to confess my feelings to Nathan, I will finally admit what I have been wanting to tell him since college.

I just hope and wish that we both are on the pages of life. I really want us to be a couple and spend our future together. I have these dreams of family and children that I want to live with him, cherish our lives together, grow old together.

As we reached near Nathan's house, I saw the light were off, I asked Rose if she knew what happened. She told that maybe it was the switch or any technical error.

As I opened the door, it was all dark and I called out for Nathan, suddenly there were loud noise of cheers and claps and the light was switched on and I saw many of our friends and some colleagues, they were all cheering for me and singing birthday wishes.

I was really surprised that both Nathan and Rose planned this without even me realising, it was just yesterday that I talked to them and I couldn't tell that they were keeping a secret from me, everything looked as usual. The flowers and decorations, everything was perfect. It was decorated in my favourite flowers orchids and the cake was a three tier pineapple cake, which is my another favourite thing of tonight. As I was busy admiring everything around, Nathan came wishing me Happy Birthday and he hugged me tightly.

"I hope you are not upset with anything, we really wanted to make it special for since, the last time you couldn't enjoy," he said grinning that boyish grin I love. It does something to me, my heart flutters.

I love it Nathan, it is the most beautiful surprise and everything is perfect, orchids and pineapple cake, what more could a girl ask for.

"Anything for you princess," he said while kissing my forehead.

"You are looking breathtakingly beautiful," he said eyeing my dress.

Thank you and you too managed to look pretty well, I said when in reality he was looking hot as always. Just by standing this close to him I was feeling hot.

"Really princess, pretty well... you couldn't come up with something better. I am looking hot and sexy." he said in a way that seems he is actually hurt hurt by my comment.

Come on Nathan, I was just.....

I know I look hot, he said while cutting me mid sentence.

Jokes aside thank you for everything, it's beautiful, I said while Rose joined us.

"Group hug", yelled Rose because of the music.

Let's enjoy, come Amara let's dance and with that I went on the dance floor to enjoy before things get serious, before I confess my feelings to Nathan for real this time.
