Chapter 2 - Mister Blue Eyes

2142 Words
My oh my, talk about tall, dark and handsome. He is the most beautiful man I have ever seen, and of course I have to meet him in this hideous uniform that isn’t even pressed. He has dark brown hair that is somehow tidy and messy at the same time. Striking, deep-blue eyes, that almost have me paralyzed as his gaze lands on me. He has a strong jawline with a bit of stubble that only makes him all the more sexy. Broad shoulders with muscles so defined I can see their outline through his T-shirt. You can tell he has a tall frame even as he is seated. What was Clancy just asking me? Oh yeah, I don’t have time for dating. Sheesh, but if this man asked me out, I don’t think I could even say no if I wanted to. Damn good looks can make you do just about anything. When did I become a sucker for a handsome face. Oh yeah, maybe when the face is attached to a body like that. Oh and when he is so sexy that he can make my panties wet from just looking at me. Breathe in, breath out, you got this Josie. I shake myself out of my crazy lust filled thoughts and approach table five. “Welcome to Allston Dinner can I get you something to drink to start?” I inquire from mister blue eyes. He graces me with a charming smile, and he just gets that much more breathtaking, damn. “Yes, I’d love a coffee”. He glances down at my name tag, “Josie, what do you recommend to a first time customer?” “Not fair you know my name and I can only guess yours.” I shamelessly flirt with a smile and add, “Hmmm, well that depends on your tastes I suppose. Are you more of a sweet or savory breakfast eater?” I inquire. He quirks an eyebrow leans toward me and and says, “The name is Lucas, and I like how thorough your are in your recommendations. I’m more of a savory for breakfast and save sweet for…dessert.” He eyes me up and down when he references dessert. Was he flirting with me? Or is that my imagination? “Hmmm, well then I would recommend the inferno omelette, it comes with a side of home fries and choice of bacon or sausage. If you aren’t into spicy then the eggs Benedict is excellent as well”. I suggest while leaning over the menu to point them out and hopefully doing a little flirting of my own. He smirks while glancing at my chest, “oh I like spicy, I’ll take the omelette with bacon.” Yes definitely flirting, he is so yum. I may not want to date but flirting is fine, right? I wink, “I like spicy too, I’ll place your order right away” I sashay away with a little more sway to my hips. I may or may not have leaned over the pass through to give a bit more for him to view. I look over my shoulder at him and see him checking out my ass just as I had hoped. I give my own smirk. Wow, this morning is looking better and better by the minute. I pick up Sarah’s order and place it before her. Once again Frank created a masterpiece, it is a wonder he stays at this diner instead of being a chef at some fancy restaurant. “Wow, this looks and smells amazing.” Sarah says as she takes her first bite and moans, “hmmmm, even better than it looks. Tell Frank that it is amazing?” I smile, “He is the master isn’t he” I top off her coffee and leave the check as I know she is always in a rush to leave. I stop back by Clancy’s table, “how’re you doing over here Clancy?” I question. “Good darling, I’m thinking I might get a slice of that berry pie up there” he points with his chin toward the pastry display case. “Oh yeah, and what would Sharon say about that? You know she always gets mad at me when you don’t follow the doctor’s instructions” I remind him. “When did she get you on her side? Damn wife always in my business.” He huffs. I c*ck an eyebrow, “I’m not into taking sides, I just want to have many more years of you being my first customer of the day.” I pat him on the shoulder, “I’ll get you the pie, but you better go for your walk after.” I give him a knowing look. I walk away to get mister blue eyes, I mean Lucas’s omelet. I place it in front of him carefully. “You’ll have to tell me what you think. I always like to know if my recommendations were up to my customer’s standards” I wait while he takes his first bite, “Well, Lucas, what’s the verdict?” He licks his lips, holy crap now I want that tongue all over my body. Then he wipes the corners of his mouth with his napkin, “Delicious, I may have to make this my new morning stop” he looks at me with another one of his smirks. “Well if that is the case, you may want to try one of Frank’s special orders.” I put my hand on my hip in a bit of a challenge. He tilts his head and asks, “hmmm, and you didn’t suggest that first?” “Well, you see, Frank needs to get to know your likes first and then he will make something just for you. He can’t do that unless you are a regular,” I smile sweetly while rocking from toe to heal. “I see, well I guess I don’t have a choice then,” he responds while leaning back with both arms across the back of the teal-green vinyl booth. “I’ll have to come see you tomorrow, cannot have you holding out on me” Oh my those arms are every girls fantasy. I wonder what it would feel like to have those wrapped around me. The way his veins trail up his forearms and his lean muscles under his stretched T-shirt. He looks delicious. I shake my head of my thoughts and realize I was just staring at mister blue eyes, I mean Lucas. What is wrong with me? It’s like I’m going through puberty or something. I look up at Lucas’s face, sh*t he has that cocky, knowing smirk. He knows I was just checking him out. I can feel the heat in my cheeks and I know I must be as red as a tomato. Oh well, he was checking me out too. “Well then, if you need anything else just holler,” I say while topping off his coffee. I desperately need to get away before I embarrass myself anymore. “Will do.” He smiles that panty wetting smile. I’m really wondering where this is going because I may not have the time, but I sure as hell am not passing this guy up if this flirting turns into something more. I think I’m going to need to talk to Maeve and Elaine about this one. Lord knows, they both think I need to get more of a life. Look at me, pretending that his simple flirting actually meant something. Geez Josie, a guy that hot probably doesn’t even know how to have a conversation without flirting. ~~~~~~~~~~ I’m once again running late, only this time late for class. It should only take fifteen minutes to get from my job to class, but in this traffic I might as well walk. Maybe I should see if I can find a cheap bike to buy online, maybe I can even get one free from buy nothing. Heck, I’ve gotten enough other free stuff that way. I never would have been able to furnish our apartment without the help. At least with a bike I won’t be stuck in traffic and I love the fresh air. It might not work all year round, but as long as there is no snow it would be better than this sh*t. I better call Maeve and talk to her, I need a distraction. I’m going to have to put her on speaker phone, sigh. I know she hates it and she wishes I would just get a Bluetooth, but who has money for that, not me. “Hey girl” I sound as chipper as I can so she won’t get mad at me. “Not the speaker phone, gawd you know I hate that sh*t. You sound like you are down some dark hole when you are talking.” She complains. “Yeah, yeah, at least you are the only one I want to call to rescue me when I am stuck in a dark hole” I respond in jest. “Wouldn’t have it any other way. Aren’t you supposed to be in class?” Maeve questions. “Almost, I got ten minutes to be there and I’m stuck in traffic. I swear if I am late I am gonna be pissed. I hate how it makes me look like I don’t care about anyone but myself.” I huff. “I don’t think anyone will ever think that. You have more compassion in your little pinky than most have in their whole body. I don’t get how being late makes it seem like you don’t care about others. Plus, all the professors know that you support your mom and yourself.” She tries to reassure me. “You know I hate falling back on that, everyone has their issues. I don’t want mine to be an excuse. It makes me look like I don’t care about other people’s time and that I can just do whatever I want on my schedule.”I point out. She knows how much I hate people looking at me with pity or like I am some martyr. “Anyways, today the most beautiful man I have ever seen came into the diner” I change the subject. “He must be more than beautiful if you are talking about him,” she responds. “My oh my, he was. He had my panties wet before I made it to his table. He was a big flirt too”. I throw out wondering if I was reading into his flirting. “Sounds like he must be s*x on legs. Did you get his number?” She asks. I sigh, “you know I cannot do that, I work there. But his name is Lucas and he said he will make the diner part of his regular morning routine” “Who cares if you work there, and that sounds promising. You better do more than flirt tomorrow.” I smile at her response. Yes, seeing him tomorrow would be nice. I nervously ask, “what else do I do though? You know I haven’t dated, I don’t know what the hell I’m doing. Isn’t the guy supposed to ask the girl out?” “Maybe in the 1950’s. Come on girl, you have always gone after anything you wanted. Why should a guy be any different?” She is right about that, I ponder the idea of me being the one to ask him out and my cheeks heat up. I can hardly even picture it when I am alone in the car, I’m doomed. “Anyway, I am almost at school and I need a favor” I start, “the power is out at my apartment again and I am worried about Mom. I dropped off food from the diner, but I was hoping you could check in on her”. I hold my breath for her response. I hate dumping my sh*t on my friend, but I have no other option. “You know you don’t have to ask. Why are you acting all nervous about this? Do you really think I am a sh*tty friend that won’t help?” She asks in mock offense, “I am only mad you didn’t come to me to borrow money for the electric bill” “I know, I just hate always asking for help” I say softly. “You have got to get over it, because you are stuck with me. I’ll be there when you get off class so we can talk more about this sexy man you’re gonna catch.” She laughs. “Okay, thanks. Bye.” “Bye girl.”
