"The Broquen Bonde."

1038 Words
*George (whispering to himself):* “I was supposed to be the Alpha… the one who had it all.” He didn’t hate Rena— on the contrary, he felt a strange pull toward her. She possessed something no one else had: inner strength, and a light that demanded attention even in silence. And that’s when the devil in his mind began to whisper. *“If you can take her from him… if she becomes your Luna, then he’ll have nothing left.”* From that night on, George began to change. He grew quieter, more secretive. The way he looked at Ares’ mate was no longer innocent — it was full of intent. And so began his first step toward destroying his brother. On a quiet night, George took advantage of his brother Ares’ absence—who had been sent by their father, Charlie, to the human city on business—to get closer to Ares’ mate, Rina. George began inviting her out, talking to her, using his charm and sweet words to gain her trust. At the same time, Charlie announced the ceremony to appoint George as the Alpha of the pack, exploiting Ares’ absence to carry out the act without resistance. On the evening of the ceremony, Ares was on his way back when he received a call from his loyal friend—the future beta of the pack—who informed him of what was happening. Realizing things had spiraled out of control, Ares accelerated his return. By the time he arrived, the ceremony had ended. He went straight to George’s room, only to find a shocking scene: Rina, his mate, was in bed with George. Overcome with rage, Ares shifted into his wolf form and attacked George with fury. George shifted as well, and a fierce battle between the two brothers broke out. In the middle of the fight, Charlie entered the room holding a syringe filled with wolfsbane, a plant known for its powerful effects on wolves. He injected Ares, causing him to lose consciousness immediately. Wolfsbane is known for its ability to severely weaken wolves—it causes intense burns upon skin contact and extreme weakness when ingested, making it an effective tool for controlling wolves in emergencies. Ares awoke in a dark cell, chained and weakened, his inner wolf groaning in pain. He knew the betrayal hadn’t come only from George—but also from his father, Charlie. In that moment, Ares swore he would reclaim his place and take revenge on those who had betrayed him, no matter the cost. On a grey morning, Charlie visited his son’s cell. Ares lay weak, still suffering from the effects of the wolfsbane injection. Charlie stood before him, his eyes a mix of firmness and regret. *Charlie:* "Ares, I’ll release you under two conditions: 1. *You renounce your right to be Alpha.* 2. *You reject your mate, Rina—she chose to be with George.*" The words hit Ares hard, but his pride was hurt even more. He looked at his father with eyes full of disappointment and said: *Ares:* "I won’t keep a woman who betrayed me, even if it kills my wolf." What shocked him was that his wolf, Kium, no longer desired Rina either. Unlike the day before, Kium was calm that morning, despite the sting of betrayal. *Kium: "Ares, don’t worry. We have something better waiting for us. I no longer care about my former mate or the Alpha title. We’re leaving this pack. It’s time for change. This place isn’t for us. We deserve better. Trust me." Ares felt pride swell in his chest for his wolf. He never thought he’d be able to move on so quickly—especially since wolves rarely overcome the loss of a mate so easily. *Ares (whispering):* "Thank you, Kium. Let’s start over—together." And so, Ares left the cell—not as an Alpha, but as a free man, determined to build his own destiny, far from the betrayals of family and the pain of the past. Outside the cell, Mols was already waiting for him at the palace gate, as if he hadn’t moved all night. The two friends exchanged a long look—words weren’t needed. *Ares (quietly):* "I’m leaving, Mols. There’s nothing left for me here. Maybe I’ll find refuge... far away from those who betrayed me." *Mols (stepping closer):* "I’m leaving with you, Ares. I have no one left—my father’s gone... and you’ve always been more than a friend. You’re my brother. I won’t let you face the road alone. Let’s start a new life—together." Ares stood still, his heart—broken just yesterday—slowly beginning to mend. Having Mols by his side was all he needed to begin again. *Ares (gratefully):* "Thank you, Mols. I’ll never forget this." *Before his departure, Ares decided to confront George and Rina. He met them in the training yard, where George was proudly showing off his newfound strength.* *Ares (with a cold stare):* "Why? You were my mate, and you were my brother." *Rina (with arrogance):* "I wasn’t born to be the wife of a warrior, Ares. I was born to be a Luna... and you were just an obstacle." *Ares let out a hysterical laugh that silenced everyone around them.* *Ares:* "Luna? You can barely stay loyal to yourself. Don’t worry, Rina… I wouldn’t keep a woman who doesn’t know the worth of the wolf she once had." He stepped closer, his voice low but sharp as a blade: *Ares:* "Consider this moment the end of everything. Rina, I… reject you." She looked up at him in shock, but he continued mercilessly: *Ares:* "I reject your heart, your body, your name, and every memory we shared. You no longer belong to me — not to me, and not to my wolf. We’re free of you." Then he turned to George, looking at him with contempt: *Ares:* "And you… be ready. Even a fake Luna doesn’t last. Those who begin with betrayal… always end with betrayal، Enjoy what you’ve stolen. *He turned away and walked off with steady steps. The end had been written… but a new beginning awaited him on the horizon.*
