Chapter 2

Linnea opened the door only to find Elenor, her friend, standing by the doorway “Linnea, don’t tell me that you haven’t packed your bags yet. The wedding is tomorrow...” Elenor trailed on her words the second she saw Linnea’s face. “I don’t think I’ll go,” Linnea said and took a few steps backward. Feeling weak on her knees, she walked towards the couch and fell on it. “What? What’s wrong” Elenor asked. She shut the door and moved closer to Linnea, sitting beside her. “That bastard! He wants a divorce” “What? No, no, no! You must have gotten the wrong idea...” “Wrong idea?” Linnea asked sternly. “The divorce papers are upstairs and he asked me to sign them before he comes back from work today,” Linnea said, resting her head on Elenor’s shoulder. Hot tears that welled up in her eyes rolled from her eyes. “What happened, sweetheart? Can’t it be fixed? Is the divorce necessary?” Elenor asked, caressing Linnea’s brunette hair. “He’s a dickhead! After all that I’ve done for him,” Linnea wept. Linnea is the CEO of Adams Fashion Home and ever since she got married to Anthony, she has spent a lot of money on him, buying him expensive gifts, and expensive watches and Anthony has never given her anything back in return. Linnea wept on Elenor’s shoulder while Elenor continued to caress her shoulder and silence engulfed the room. After a few seconds, Elenor asked, “What are you going to do now?” The room fell silent again, “Sign the papers, I want to know where I stand, I didn’t know I married a fool for a husband all this time” Linnea said clutching her fingers to form a tight fist as she gently sat upright. Her heart ached, but she stood to her fit. She didn’t want to dull around because of a man, although she tried to put on an act that she’d be fine when she didn’t know if she could heal from this. She walked upstairs, and Elenor trailed behind her. “That’s the spirit. Anthony was never worth you. He didn’t deserve anything from you,” Elenor said as they climbed up the stairs and headed to Linnea’s room. Linnea owned the mansion, she owned the cars in the garage, but she let Anthony do anything he likes with them, while she paid for all the bills, including his bills. Anthony works at Brown Entertainment industry and Linnea knows that he’s paid generously there, but still Anthony continued asking her for money and she couldn’t comprehend what he uses his money for. He’d rather spend her money than spend his. Linnea creaked open the door of her room. Taking a few steps closer to the bed, she picked up the bed on the floor. “Where are the servants in this place Linnea” Elenor said turning to take a look at the scattered and dirty room. “I had to send them away because I no longer have the money to pay them” Linnea responded while taking a sit the bed with the papers in front of the bed and the pen in her hands “Oh! Don’t you think that it’s time you ask Madam Susan for help?” Elenor asked, sitting opposite her. “No, I don’t want to bother her with my troubles. I’ll fix it myself,” Linnea responded. Although she didn’t know how she overcome this, she didn’t like to disturb others with her troubles because she believed that everyone had something bothering them and disturbing people with your business wasn’t fair. “When? You’ve been saying this for a long time now? Lower your pride and ask her for help,” Elenor said. “It’s not pride,” Linnea responded. The room fell silent again. She picked up the pen and held her breath as she signed the papers. “Done! I’ve signed them.” Linnea said, throwing the pen to the floor. “Change into something sexy so that we can rock a party,” Elenor said, activating her party mood. She raised her hands and swung them in the air and Linnea chuckled, but it didn’t reach her eyes. She was in deep pain. Elenor stood from the bed, trying to put the room in order. She picked the dirty clothes from the floor and kept them in the dirty basket. “You’re be doing your chores now that you have no servants,” Elenor said “I know,” Linnea responded, falling on the bed. “Hey! Get your ass out of that bed and change into a sexy outfit, okay?” Elenor said, abandoning helping her to arrange the room. She opened Linnea’s closet and browsed through the closet for a sexy outfit for Linnea to wear. “Holy cow!” Elenor exclaimed and face-slapped herself “What? The wedding?” Linnea asked. Elenor turned to face Linnea with her hands on her waist and said, “No dummy, the wedding is in two days, I thought you would come with me for the ritual tomorrow but I guess you’d be coming for only the party, I’ll be leaving tonight,” she continued and turned back to stare at the closet “Your closet is a disaster, work clothes everywhere” Elenor searched for clothes in the closet but she couldn’t find the right dress that suited her description of sexy. “What about that one” Linnea pointed at a blue dress hanging by the corner and Elenor hissed at the sight of it “Too plain. Let’s go with this strapless dress,” Elenor said, pulling out a brown strapless dress from Linnea’s closet. “Take,” she said, throwing the dress to Linnea on the bed. “Change into it, let me do your makeup,” Elenor said and sat on the chair facing the vanity while Linnea sluggishly got out of bed and reluctantly put on the dress “Perfect!” The words escaped Elenor’s lips, and she stood up from the chair beckoning for Linnea to sit down on it “Do you think that there’s any need for this?” Linnea asked, causing Elenor to arch her eyebrow questioning, “Why not? I want you to look drop-dead gorgeous. That asshole will regret signing these divorce papers, okay?” she continued “We are going to party hard and trust me, you’ll forget about him for a while”
