Madam Susan stormed into Linnea’s bedroom only to find her tidying the place up.
“Why does this place reek of leftover pizza?” She asked with a frown on her face as she pinched her nose
“You’re here!” Linnea said in surprise. When Madam Susan said that she was on her way here, she didn’t expect that she’d arrive so early.
“Yes! You didn’t expect to see me so soon. Well... If you had answered your call, then you would have saved me the stress of coming here to see all of this,” Madam Susan said as she swept her gaze around the room.
“I’ve been busy...”
“What about your servants?” she inquired
“Since I’m the only one, I figured out that I should save money a bit, so I dismissed them this morning,” Linnea asked. She didn’t want to disappoint Susan by telling her about the status of her business.
"Now, for the real reason, I'm here," she said, as she found somewhere suitable in the room to sit because the whole place was dirty and it looked as though no one had swept it for days.
Linnea’s heart throbbed in her chest. She hoped that the old lady wouldn’t have discovered that she hadn’t discovered that she’s struggling because everyone in the family knew that Madam Susan had high hopes for Linnea.
“What happened between you and Anthony” Linnea let out a long sigh. She didn’t know that she had been holding her breath until now. “Nothing,” she responded, trying not to think of Anthony
“Linnea, look at me,” Madam Susan said and Linnea gulped down the saliva in her mouth, holding her hands together in front of her she said, “I don’t know, it just happened, He just brought the papers for me to sign,” Linnea broke down the tears. The tears that she has been holding onto since morning when she received Anthony’s message roll down her eyes like a waterfall.
“Hush dear child! Hush.” Madam Susan coughed.
“So that bastard dare make my child cry, what a Hippocrates” she added using her walking stick to pace back and forth in the room.
“I did nothing wrong, he couldn’t even give me any reason for the divorce,” Linnea said wiping the tears from her eyes, “I didn’t know that he never loved me and I’ve been a fool for so long so I signed the papers so that he can get the hell out of my life”
Madam Susan sighed softly beckoning for Linnea to walk closer to her, “Come here, my child”
Linnea took a few steps closer to Madam Susan, and she hugged her tightly, afraid to let go
“Forget about Anthony, okay? Eventually he’ll realize what a big mistake he has made, he’ll realize that he lost a rare gem” she said while patting Linnea’s back.
“You should take a shower now. You stink,” Madam Susan said, pulling out of her embrace. Linnea chuckled and tried to perceive the odor from her armpit. “Hm! I guess you’re right,” Linnea said, hastening her steps to the bathroom.
...
Meanwhile, in a big skyscraper, everyone present in the hall greeted Enzo Brown as he walked out of the elevator. He had an intimidating aura, and commoners didn’t dare to look him straight in the eye.
The designs on the company wall screamed success to the name inscribed on the wall. “Brown!”
“Do you have it?” Enzo asked his assistant, Mr. Kim.
“Yes sir, here is all the information I have on the girl,” Mr. Kim said, handing an envelope to Enzo as he walked into his office
“Linnea Adams, she’s the CEO of Adams Fashion Home...”
“Ex-wife of Anthony Williams? My Chief marketing officer?” Enzo’s question cut Mr. Kim off.
“Yes Sir, they signed these divorce documents yesterday,” Mr Kim said. Enzo sat in his chair, strolling through the papers that Mr. Kim gave him.
“No wonder she was so rude yesterday.” A smirk curved on his lips, and asked, “What’s the cause of their divorce? It wasn’t mentioned here”
“I don’t know sir, I couldn’t find anything regarding it,” Mr. Kim responded
“Okay, you may leave, and don’t forget to remind me when it’s almost time for our flight, I might get too immersed in the paperwork in front of me that I might lose track of time,” Enzo said
“Okay sir,” Mr. Kim bowed slowly before exiting the office
Enzo threw the papers to the edge of his desk. A few seconds later, he heard a knock on the door. “Coffee!” He thought.
“The door creaked open and his eyes met with his secretary holding a cup of coffee”
“Good morning sir, I brought you your morning coffee,” she said.
“Drop it on the desk and leave,” I said abruptly
....
Linnea was fully dressed in black sweatpants and blue jumpers. “Do me a favor and drop me at the airport, please. I don’t want to miss Reyna’s wedding, it’s tomorrow and I have to get there before tomorrow morning”
“The flight is about 13 hours so you’d surely make it on time, pack your bags quickly so that I can drop you off because I have somewhere important to me” Madam Susan abruptly responded, Linnea and she are compatible because they both understand each other, have the same sharp tongue and smart brain for business.
“Thanks” Linnea responded. She sighed as she sorted for clothes to fill her suitcase because.
“Are you going there for a wedding or a vacation? You might as well pack all the clothes in your wardrobe into the suitcase,” Madam Susan glared.
“Elenor said that after the wedding, we would be having a get-together party with our high school friends back in China, so I’m guessing that I’ll be staying for a week,” Linnea responded without turning to face her. She added a few clothes to the suitcase and zipped the bag.
“We can go now,” Linna muttered with a faint smile on her face
“I thought you planned to use a day to arrange your suitcase”
“Perhaps if you had given me some more time, then I would have used more than a day to pack the suitcase,” Linnea said, causing Madam Susan to s***k her on her butt
