Emily's POV
Beta Kane was busy building a wooden cabin in a quiet forest while I assisted him. I was seated lonely at the verge of the cabin, thinking about how my life had changed to something strange in just two days. I never believed I would be here. I was a daughter of an Alpha. I should be in my pack, having best moments with my family, but here was I lonely with a man who claimed to be helping me.
" Emily, are you still thinking about your parents? You should forget about the past and focus on your life" Beta Kane advised from the top of the cabin as he was nailing the planks together. I rolled my eyes irritatingly at him, and looked away.
Beta Kane jumped down from the top of the cabin and walked up to me. He wiped off my tears, and said,
" Don't panic, Emily. I would use my last strength to protect you. I would be a father, a friend, and a companion to you " He held my hands and reassured me. Beta Kane seemed to care for me, but I could not see the propinquity of his actions. The more he cared, the more I felt less drawn to him. Maybe our blood doesn’t just match like that of the murderer, Alpha Black.
He moved out and went to hunt for animals and we feasted on it. He gathered firewoods and made fire from it while I folded my hands around my body in order to heat up my body through radiation. Suddenly, I began to feel goosebumps growing around my body, and my heart started racing. I began to breath faster and sweat profusely while I looked around in panic. I smelled danger around us, and I was no more comfortable.
" What's wrong, Emily?" Beta Kane asked, his voice laced with genuine concern, as he walked out of the cabin to where I was. I shook my head, trying to figure out what exactly was about to happen when a group of men in black surrounded us with swords.
" You can't run away from us, cowards!" Alpha Zak, the second commander of the group laughed sinisterly as he walked up to us.
Beta Kane made a move to defend us but was stopped and chained. Alpha Zak held me by my chin, exerting pressure to it. I grunted in pain while Beta Kane screamed for my release. Beta Kane was whipped mercilessly on his back, and we were dragged out of the woods.
After so many hours of walking, we got to the Kingdom where the Lycan king resides. It was a very big kingdom where a lot of cabins were built with warrior's names in which my father's name was among.
" Why are those names written up there?" I asked Beta Kane in a slight tone.
" These are the warriors that were used by the Lycan king to oppress other packs. Alpha Black has his own cabin here " Beta Kane responded.
We were taken to a vast courtyard where a crowd had gathered, anxiously awaiting the Lycan king. As we entered, all eyes fell upon us. Alpha Zak, the cruel second commander of the Lycan king's army, pushed me and Beta Kane forward, forcing us to our knees.
Suddenly, the Lycan king emerged from his grand hall, adorned in his attire that showcased authority. He is six feet tall, his eyes, a piercing shade of amber, scanned the crowd until they landed upon me. I felt a shiver run down my spine as his gaze bore into my soul.
"You, Alpha Jethro's daughter" The Lycan king spoke, his voice filled with power. He continued, "Your father is a betrayer, and so also, you do not deserve to live" Lycan king said.
" Alpha Black must show himself to us else we are killing you both!" He added which made fear ran through my spine.
I was taken to a chamber where I would be killed when Alpha Black showed up. He came to surrender himself for me so that I could be released. I was released, but Alpha Black was taken and held in the prison.
The prison's damp walls seemed to close in on us as Alpha Black and I huddled in the dimly lit cell. The air was thick with tension as we waited for an opportune moment to escape. The weight of our intertwined destinies hung in the balance, and I couldn't shake the feeling that our fates were inextricably linked.
Alpha Black, his gaze a mix of determination and frustration, turned to me. "We need to find a way out of here, Emily. I won't let them keep us captive."
I nodded as my mind raced with the urgency of our situation. "But how? The guards are everywhere, and the Lycan king won't let us escape easily."
He smirked, a glint of mischief in his eyes. "I have a few tricks up my sleeve. Just stay close, and follow my lead."
As we waited for the right moment, the sounds of footsteps echoed through the stone corridor. The guards approached, their expressions stern and unwavering. It was now or never. Alpha Black moved swiftly, using a hidden skill to unlock the cell door. With a quiet creak, the door swung open, revealing our path to freedom.
"Let's go, Emily," he whispered, and we slipped out into the shadows of the night.
The moonlit courtyard lay before us, the vast expanse holding the promise of escape. Alpha Black, ever the tactician, led the way, navigating the maze of cabins and hidden passages within the kingdom. We moved silently, avoiding the vigilant eyes of the guards patrolling the area.
As we neared the perimeter of the kingdom, Alpha Black paused, his senses heightened. "We need to be careful. The Lycan king's reach extends far, and his forces are relentless."
I glanced at him, a mix of admiration and apprehension in my eyes. "Why did you surrender yourself for me, Alpha Black? You could have escaped on your own."
He smiled, a shadow of vulnerability crossing his face. "You may not believe it, Emily, but I see something in you. There's a strength and resilience that helped us "
" You look so beautiful, Emily!" Alpha Black applauded. I raised up my head and looked at him through my lashes. Even though I hated him at that very moment, I still felt his genuine applaud. However, I shunned his words.
"We need to go, Emily," he whispered, his voice a low murmur that rhymed seamlessly with the chilled night.
We arrived in a confined City in the later hours of the day. Alpha Black left to get food in one of the tavern while I sat back thinking about how miserable I had been in a space of two days. We had managed to get a room at an inn we saw when we got to the city.
" Are you not eating?" Alpha Black asked as he discovered I wasn't ready to touch the food he bought. He moved closer to me, and pulled some strands of hair away from my face.
" Hey beauty, you need this food, okay?" He said and handed me a spoon. I struck the spoon away and rolled my eyes in disgust at him.
He sighed and took the spoon on the floor. He wiped off the dirty on it, and took some part of the food in it. He gently inserted the food in my mouth. I took it, still frowning at him.
" You look so beautiful when you are angry!" He said with a bold voice, yet, I could read his romantic lips. He moved nearer to me and placed a soft kiss on my forehead as if he knew I was staring at his lips.
Alpha Black seemed charming but I failed to dance to his melody of seduction. He was always like a baby around me, and I must confess he looked so cute and handsome.
It was at night. I was laying down on the bed when he entered my room. He stood by the edge of my bed as though he was examining me till he lifted up the quilt on the bed and slid into it, his cold body resting on mine, and chills ran through my body.
I kept quiet as though I didn't notice his presence, but my mind was beating faster as the devil in human form was barely into me . He shifted a bit closer to me, and something big poked my butt. I gasped trying to compose my exterior.
" What did you feel?" He whispered into my ears seductively.
" I feel nothing, please let me be!" I responded in a calm voice yet sounded so serious.
" I am your master, you can't dictate what I should do" He pulled me closer to himself and cuddled me in a tight embrace.
