Emily's POV.
I thought he was going to gash through my neck just as he did to my parents, but he didn't. Instead, he was taking me to where I do not know. I was on his shoulder, crying and biting him furiously, but he didn't even react to my actions.
He kept running deeper into the wild forest, destroying everything that came his way including the innocent antelope that stumbled unfortunately into his way. After so many petrified hours on his shoulder, he dropped me on the floor as we got to a pack that seemed different and hidden from other packs. He looked into my eyes and wiped off the tears on my face, yet, his face didn't show a piece of remorse for killing my parents.
" Hey, little girl. What's your name?" He squatted down to my height, and asked while he placed his hand on my cheeks. I hit it away, and then he smiled embarrassingly. I hated him just so well.
" Emily!" I responded with a frown on my face. Even if i hated him like cramps, I still felt like he saved my life some minutes ago, but the reason for that was not known to me. Whatsoever reason it might be I needed to just cooperate with him tonight for my own safety.
" Such a cute name!" He praised me and put his hand on my cheek again and I slapped away his hand for the second time. He smiled, then he began to laugh sinisterly, and grabbed my chin forcefully. I grunted in pain, trying to let go of his grasp.
" Oh, little Emily, you want to shift? Or Don't be stupid darling. You aren't even up to eighteen" He sneered, and mocked me. I spat at his face. He rubbed it off and dried his face with his shirt.
" What do you want from me? Aren't you supposed to kill me?" I screamed, but he quickly covered my mouth with his hand and made a 'shush' sound as his first finger crossed over his lips.
" I won't kill you, Emily. I want you to cooperate with me else they will find you. You would stay in this pack till you are old enough to live on your own. My cousin, Xander, would take good care of you. He is very nice, alright?" He asked me phlegmatically. I nodded.
Alpha Black. Yes, that was his name. I can never forget that name. Ever since I knew my father, I had never for once read fear in his face. He was always ready to fight anybody that crossed his path not until some hours ago when he looked through the window and called Alpha Black's name in fear. The same Alpha Black whom my father feared was the one in front of me acting like a gentle man and was also talking to me with soft voice.
" The Almighty Alpha Black!!"
Alpha Black stood up quickly, his sword halfway drawn from his scabbard as he faced the direction of the voice that just called his name. At first, I thought we had been caught by his fellow members, but the way his worrisome face switched to a smiling face told me that the bald headed figure coming in the dark was probably his friend, or his cousin, Xander that he talked about.
" That's my cousin, Alpha Xander!" He said to me while he picked up my hand, walking me up to Xander as they both exchanged pleasantries. They hugged each other so tight. I never thought a deadly man like Alpha Black would have loved ones so dear to him. Nonetheless, Xander, too was not that far from who I could call a devil because of his bold voice, and unfriendly glimpses. I thought Alpha Black said Xander was nice? He was nice indeed.
" Who is she?" Alpha xander asked, furrowing his brows at me.
" She's Emily. I spared her life, but she's not safe. She will stay in your pack for some years till she can live on her own!" Alpha Black said.
" And you think this isn't risky, Black?" Xander whispered to Alpha Black's ear.
" I know but you must keep her safe for me. Treat her like my daughter, and give me the bills of her spendings" Alpha Black grabbed Xander by the shoulder and demanded.
" Alright, Black. You trained me to become a better fighter. I would let her stay in my pack!" Xander accepted.
Alpha Black held my hand and handed me over to Alpha Xander, but i was so hesitant at first. I hated Alpha Black but I still preferred to be around him. Tears dropped from my eyes as Xander grabbed my hand.
" Don't worry, Emily. I would come to see you when you clock eighteen!" Alpha Black said and concluded.
" I should be on my way now. Alpha Zak must have been looking for me" Alpha Black strode to the forest while I watched him disappear from my view. I had this double feeling about Alpha Black. I saw him as someone who might have just loved me for reasons that I didn't know and also I saw him as my enemy, a killer of my loving parents. I would not spare this killer if I was opportuned to kill him.
" Hey, Emily. Are you alright?" Xander snapped his fingers across my face and brought me back to my consciousness.
" Oh..oh yes, I am!" I quickly responded.
Xander held my hand and motioned me to his pack territory. The pack members were so happy to see me in their pack. They told me some fairytales about demons and feral. They tried to cheer me up but they didn't know I was mourning my parents. I was seated alone close to a river under the bright moon in the sky, when a man, barely Alpha Black's age, walked up to me in slow steps.
" Hello, you've been here all alone. Can I join you?" He asked.
" Yes!" I answered in one word then he sat beside me.
" I am Kane, the Beta of this pack and you?" He introduced himself, stretching forth his hand to me.
"I am Emily!" I took his hand, wondering why he was here. I just needed privacy.
" I heard Alpha Black brought you here some hours ago" he chuckled, and continued,
" Alpha Black is a coward and a cursed Alpha. He thinks he can use a damsel wolf like you as a tool to bear pups in his name" He finished then laughed sinisterly. I turned to him.
" A tool to bear pups?" I asked frantically.
" Don't tell me you are not aware of this, Emily. Alpha Black is useless, mate less, and vulnerable. Why do you think he is saving your life?" He said with full energy. I pursed lips, and sighed, matching the dots in my head. Beta Kane's words sounded so convincing. He spoke with so much energy that I could just affirm what he just said. Plus, I didn't really see a reason why Alpha Black would spare me if not for his own benefit.
I wide-eyed, and turned to him fully to hear more about it. Beta Kane might just be an angel sent to me by the Moon goddess.
" But what can I do? Alpha Black said I would be here till I can live on my own , and he would return on my eighteenth birthday" I asked with so much concern, and panic.
" Didn't I say it? He knows you would be ripe by the time you clock eighteen and that was why he said so. His pack members would reject you assuming he took you there. Don't you know his pack members hate him?" Beta Kane cleared his throat, and continued,
" I will help you only if you are ready to be helped" he pronounced and held my hands.
" I am ready to be helped, Kane!" I responded to him. He clasped his mouth to my ear and whispered,
" You need to run out of here tonight before the day break" Beta Kane suggested with bright eyes. I swallowed in fear. I bought the suggestion, but how would I escape alone having thought of how deep here was to the patrol borders. I would end up being killed by the feral. I snorted in thought and scratched my hair disdainfully.
" Don't you think running out of here tonight is more risky? I am a stranger for goddess sake" I said to him worrisomely.
" Don't worry, Emily. I already planned that" Beta Kane drew closer to me, and whispered his plan to my hearing.
