PIPER'S POV
"He wants you to move in with him?" Anna asked with her gaze on the permit Mr. Langford's Secretary handed to me earlier today.
"Apparently," I replied nervously biting my fingers.
"Do you think that's a great idea?" Anna asked, her brows curled.
" Well, I told him I love very far away from the company and he keeps pointing out the fact that he loves my designs and how much impact I would make in the company. He said I needed to be present at work every single day."
" I see... Will you be comfortable living with him?" Anna asked, her face softened, and she placed her hand on my shoulder, " You know I'll always support you. Do you trust living with him?"
"I don't think he would hurt me." I did trust the fact that Langford wouldn't hurt me, although I didn't tell Anna that Mr. Langford and I had a one-night stand and is probably the father of my child.
"I think you should head out then," Anna said, bringing me out of my thoughts.
"Huh?"
"I think you should start packing up. I don't mind taking you to the train station."
"Oh... Alright ... Well, I'll keep in touch with you Anna, I promise I will not forget you," I said. Holding my hand to my chest.
" I won't forget you, too, darling." She responded with teary eyes.
Afterwards, she helped me arrange my things and pack them up, and in no time we were on our way to the train station. After I got a ticket, she bid me farewell and watched the train leave before she left. It was such an emotional moment for both of us. We had only known each other for a little while but it felt like I had known her for a lifetime.
After a short nap, the train came to a halt and the passengers started getting off. Mr. Langford informed me on the train that he would send his driver to pick me up at the train station.
With my luggage, I just stood by the corner while waiting for their call. I still wondered why he was being nice to me to the point of sending his drivers to me. A man in a black suit and black shades approached me, "Ms. Piper Reyes"
"Yes? That's me."
"Mr. Langford has sent for you. This way." He said as he directed me to the car and got the car door for me. He drove me straight to the mansion after stopping at a really fancy restaurant to pick up some food.
"Er... Is Mr. Langford at the mansion?" I asked nervously.
" Yes ma'am. He didn't go to the office today. He's waiting for you inside." The gates flew wide open, and in no time, we were at the mansion. The gates flew open, and the driver made his way in. The environment was so beautiful, flowers were planted on the driveway with a fountain at the centre, and there it was, the large mansion mounted behind the fountain and flowers.
The driver parked the car, helped me with the door, and then headed to the boot to grab my luggage. He escorted me inside the mansion and excused himself from the living room. I wasn't sure where Langford was, but the living room was so beautiful. It was very spacious and beautifully furnished with neutral coloured furniture.
"Beautiful space right?" Came his baritone from behind, leaving me startled.
"Oh... Yes, yes, it is." I responded, letting out a forced chuckle.
"Have a seat... How was your Journey?"
While getting comfortable in my seat, I responded, " My journey was okay... Thanks for asking."
"The maid will show you to your room. You can skip work for today and get enough rest." He said and then got up. I could no longer hold it in any longer. Before he disappeared into the staircase, I called his attention. " Sir?"
"Yes?" He turned around.
"Why are you being nice to me?"
"That's because I care about my child... And you're its mother."
I let out a gasp, and my heart skipped a bit. "How does he know I'm pregnant?" I thought to myself.
"I know what's going through your mind already, how do I know you're pregnant? Why do you think I've been searching for you ever since?"
" Sir... I ..." I got up from my seat nervously.
"Let me into your life and let me take care of you and that child; they belong to me."
" Sir, how do you even know this? We were both drunk that night ... I barely even remember what happened."
"Tell me, Piper, aren't you pregnant? Carry on, my child? I want to be a part of this phase of your life, and the rest of it, including being there for you and that child, and believe me when I say I'm not letting you leave my sight again. This is exactly what I meant when I said you have something that belongs to me, I didn't mean the money you stole from my wallet."
I wasn't sure how to react. He already knew the child was his, and it's not like I didn't need a support system to take care of me and the child. I wasn't going to argue any further with him.
"Get comfortable, Piper." He said as he turned around and made his way to the staircase, but he halted in between the steps, "It's Jace to you now."
"I stood there imagining how much my life would change a few days from now. Not just that, the fact that ever since I left Ethan, I went through a vsdy rough time in my life from sleeping on the streets to meeting Anna who was always nice to me, but still crying myself to bed courtesy of Ethan's actions towards me now the same man whom I had a one night stand with is about to change my life.
The maids came along and carried my things and led me to the room. I bounced on the bed and a smile finally appeared on my face. "My days can only get better, henceforth."
