CHAPTER 5. Shopping

"Mummy! Mummy!" Andre continuously tapped me as soon as we entered the car which was headed to a small apartment my assistant had helped me rent.
I told her to ensure it was a classy area and it was far from the house I grew up in. Also far from the hospital I had worked in.
Who would have thought a girl who was passionate about nursing and taking care of people would become a big time author and a masked lawyer.
Yes, a masked lawyer. I refuse to let people know I am. It was already enough attention from being an author, I didn't need more coming from people wanting to know who that bad ass lawyer is that hadn't lost one single case.
I was that woman! Only Tyler and Casey knew I was the masked lawyer. Tyler presented cases to me, he was basically my assistant in the judicial sector.
"May I help you son?" I asked in a tired tone and he grinned widely.
"I want to be a pilot." He said all of a sudden with excitement laced in his voice.
"Mmhm?" He nodded frantically as if his head was about to go off.
"I want to fly in the sky."
I chuckled at that and asked, "Didn't you just say you want to be a doctor yesterday?"
"Annabel copied that, I want something different. I wish we had met the pilot." He pouted and I saw a look of disappointment on his face.
"Next time, you will even get to take pictures with the pilot, is that okay?" I assured and he smiled in excitement giving back to playing a game on his iPad.
Shouldn't have given him that ice-cream. I thought to myself seeing he was all so jumpy. While Annabel was sleeping on my lap. I closed my eyes for a second and then opened it and saw a big compound which the car had driven in. The house was a two-story, traditional style with a white fence and a beautiful garden that surrounds it. The car stopped at the parking area and a lady and a man came into view.
"Good afternoon Ms Anderson." The man opened the door for us and I gently shook Annabel.
"Baby, we're here." She rubbed her eyes slowly taking in her surroundings. She noticed all of us waiting for her so she blushed looking away shyly.
"How was your flight ma?" The lady who I assumed was going to be their nanny for the weeks I will be staying asked.
"Very well, your name?" I questioned as I had forgotten her name.
"Ohh, Ody." She said and I took note adjusting my joggers which I had on. My kids and I wore black hoodies and joggers along with black Airforce1's, just trying to match.
Casey had taken a dozen pictures of us before our departure. Goshing on how cute we looked.
"Let's go." I held both their hands. While I left our things in the hands of the help.
"Mummy, is this where we are going to be staying?" Annabel asked.
"Well, duhh." Andre replied. I laughed at how sassy he was being. Annabel mugged him and he returned the same energy.
"Cut it out. Yes my love, we will be staying here for a few weeks." I repeated due to the fact that I had explained to them twice before we left.
"Okay." She nodded looking around while Andre plumped down on the couch. He was just energetic, he had better not disturb my sleep.
"Welcome to Ryle ma'am." Damien, who was going to drive us around and ensure we were safe, welcomed us with a smile.
I was back in Ryle…..wow.

1 WEEK LATER.
"I miss you here. One thing I know for sure is if y'all aren't back in the next 5 days, trust me that I'm gonna be there." Casey cried out and I chuckled as I entered the mall.
The twins were meant to come with me but after work, I decided to come here straight away. I needed to get a few items such as clothes, food stuffs and a bunch of other things.
I had my shades on and a nose mask in order to prevent any familiarity. I had just gotten perfumes, creams and baby oil for myself and kids when I noticed people were hurriedly leaving the mall.
"What's going on?" I asked the cashier and he glanced at me with a bored look.
"Apparently the most powerful man in this city asked for everyone to leave in order to shop. So damn tired of you rich people." He mumbled the last part but it didn't go unmissed.
I rolled my eyes and handed him my card. He swiped and gave me back my card and rather than hurrying out of the mall, I took my sweet time to head to the food section and gathered everything I knew I might need. I wasn't about to exit this place because of some stupid rich man.
"I don't want to hear anything!" I heard a man speak with harshness in his tone.
"Babe…it's not what you..it's not what it seems." A lady's voice replied.
"I just…I can't believe you…you would know something like that. Just get prepared, Maria.
Cause when I'm ready you and my cousin are going to suffer my wrath." His voice sounded oddly familiar to me. I just couldn't place my hand where I had heard his voice before.
"Baby please." The lady begged but no word came from him. In the search of knowing who this mystery man could be, I tried to move closer to where they were.
My eyes landed on a very handsome man whose whole demeanor and physique screamed wealth. I knew for sure, he was the powerful man who wanted us out.
I wonder if he's popular around here. I shrugged and went back in to check out my purchases.
"You know what? f**k you. Your cousin was way better than you in every single way. I don't give a f**k, do your worse. At the end, being the monster you are, you're going to have me killed. Don't worry I have it all planned because I will destroy you before you even try me." The lady spat, throwing off those who had been listening.
It was silent for a second until we had that same man laugh hysterically.
"You must have forgotten who the hell I am. But no matter what you plan on doing, you couldn't beat me anywhere." As soon as those words came out of that man's mouth it suddenly clicked to me. I knew why his voice seemed that familiar to me.
"But no matter what you plan on doing, you couldn't beat me in court whatsoever. I have the money and the power..."
It was him.
I knew for sure I had come face to face with that monster and he was going to get a piece of my mind.
