“The pain transfer…” Lucy says, turning to me sharply. “That’s all we have now.”
My eyes are still wide in shock as I stare at her.
“She’s going to test it,” Lucy continues, looking more terrified than I ever expected. “Once she finds out you’re not pregnant, she’ll destroy the herbs.”
I nod slowly. That part is true. It would be risky to call her bluff. “What’s the plan?”
She exhales, “I’ll distract the guards….. then you slip in.”
“That’s it?”
“That’s it,” she says. “Make it count.”
It sounds too easy to work but if there is anything I have learnt about Lucy, she has her own ways of getting things done and it's because of her zeal that I believe Kael won't die on us.
I can only hope Renric forgives me for going through such steps.
