The day after Nica’s dad went home, Poppy had a pediatrician appointment. I was anxious to see how she’d grown. We’d been told at the hospital to expect some weight loss over the first couple of days as she learned how to eat on her own rather than getting every nutrient she needed from inside the womb, but I worried if the weight loss would be too much. Or how soon she’d start gaining it back. As her health was confirmed, I took a deep breath of relief.
