Covetousness

In Mr Moses room. It is one room apartment. There is a six spring bed,a foam is on the floor, three chairs and a center table in the room.The room reflect object poverty.Mr Moses children are in school uniforms. Mrs Cherry (Wife): Children come and eat so that you won't be late for school, she put the food on the table. Mr Moses(Husband): My wife tell them to drink a lot of water so that they will be satisfied. Martha (elders daug) : (Murmuring)There is no meat in my soup and there is no fish either. Mr Moses:(Angrily) are you a thief? don't you know what fish and meat are not good for children?it spoils them.the children begins to eat the food. Matilda (2nd daug) : But our teachers always says that fish and meat are source of protein.she said that it is children who should eat meat and fish not adult. Mr Moses :(Angrily) That your teacher is a liar, do not believe her.if that is what she is teaching you in school,i shall change you from the school. Levi( 3rd son) : The headmaster told us to come with our school fees today. Mr Moses: Tell him,i shall pay your fees next week. Levi :(grumbling) but that was what you said last week. Wilson (last son) : My uniform is torn,my friends are always laughing at me in school. Mr Moses: Give it to the village tailor he will mend it for you. Mr Cherry:I have taken it to the village tailor,he has worked on it several times.The uniform is worm out, its needs replacement. Mr Moses:(Angrily) Cherry, you want to join your children and kill me.There is no meat or fish in the soup,I want to pay my school fees,new uniforms.All on me you had better kill me and eat my flesh. Mrs Cherry:(submissively)my husband, these are essential things, the children need them,to enable them grow into responsible adults. Mr Moses: You know very well that i do not have money.my business is in shambles except you want me to steal, that I won't do. Mrs Cherry:(calmly)I am not telling you to steal (There is a heavy knock on the door) who is that. Landlord: (from outside) It is your landlord, please open the door,I want to see your husband. Mr Moses:(Murmuring, whispering and fidgeting) tell him that i am not at home,I have travelled.that I shall pay him when I return............ when i return from my journey.(He lies on the floor) please pack all these clothes on me ( his wife and his children begins to pack all the clothes on the bed on him until it forms a heap). Mr Cherry:(open the door) Good morning sir, sorry for keeping you waiting,I was dressing up. Landlord: What of your husband? I want to see him. Mr Cherry:He travelled very early to Osha Town this morning, he said he will pay the rent as soon as he comes back. Landlord: (Angrily) But that was what he said last month.he is owning me five _ months rent. Just one room apartment he cannot pay. Tell him if he does not pay me the accumulated six months rent next month, I shall reject him and put a more reliable tenant who will pay on time. Mrs Cherry:(pleading) sir,it has not come to that,we shall pay the rent as soon as my husband returns from the journey. Landlord:Let me believe you for once and he left. (exit) Mr Moses:(coming out from the heap of clothes. He is sweating profusely.) I was almost suffocating.(he is out of the heap of clothes.he stands up and sits on one of the chairs) oh God! Help me,help me, l have no place to go if the landlord gives me a quite notice. Nobody to borrow money from I cannot pay them.( Begins to sob) Am I cursed? Mr Cherry:(consoling him) it is alright. We shall pay the rent when we have the money. Children go to school so that you won't be late. (The children Carry their bags and went to school. Mrs Cherry: Everything Will be alright,we shall pay the rent,get ready and go to the shop. Mr Moses:He look up and down Shake is head and he left to his shop.
