Packing did not take long, for the previous evening had been mostly about sleep. Eva felt a sense of disappointment upon leaving the hotel. It was a great Tudor mansion, surrounded by gardens patrolled by semi-naked trees. “Shame we couldn"t stay here longer.” Madden paused to look back at the building. “Yes I guess it is kind of quaint. I"ve never really paid attention to the surroundings as I mostly seem to arrive and leave in the dark.” Eva chose not to pursue what it was that led Madden to keep such unusual hours, instead getting into the car.
