Daylight intruded upon Eva"s sleep, causing her to stir. She could feel the warmth on her eyelids, enticing her to wake. Wherever she lay, the room smelled like the rest of the ARC facility. She had no idea why she was lying down.
She groaned and tried to stretch, when a sharp pain in her hand caused her to pull back.
“Steady there, you don"t want it coming out again.”
Eva opened her eyes a c***k, focusing on her hand. Underneath surgical tape, a tube emerged, connecting her to an intravenous drip at the side of her bed.
“Coming out?” she croaked. “What is it doing in there in the first place? Where am I?”
“You had a fall,” the male voice explained. “Given the nature of our location and the recent company you have been keeping, it was deemed best if several tests were run.”
