“What is it?” asked Dom as Kiko came to a halt several feet from the door to Chad’s room. He could hear talking from beyond it, but no reason why they shouldn’t knock and enter. Kiko took his hand. “Let’s get something to eat first,” he said. “Isn’t it a bit early?” “By the time we find someplace and get food it’ll be at least five,” said Kiko, looking relieved that Dom followed where he led. He lowered his voice. “Chad’s mother is in there.” “And?” asked Dom, confused. “And I really don’t think she’ll be happy with me. Last time he was in the hospital, I think she blamed me.
