Love Letters from Heaven 1: First Love

Detroit Stadium—March 13, 2015 A large crowd filled the whole stadium. The place was filled with neon lights, balloons, flowers and satin draperies. There was a red carpet in the middle where pastors and VIPs were being accompanied by ushers, neatly dressed in shades of black and red. The worship and dance teams were on one corner of the stage doing powerful intercessions. Church leaders were bustling to and fro to make sure that everything was all set and ready. After the intercession, I went backstage to get a quick sip of lukewarm water and a retouch of my makeup. Yet somehow, I was caught by a sudden commotion from one corner of the dressing room. I walked slowly toward where the voices were coming from. The door was tightly closed though the conversation can be heard from outside. I didn't mean to listen to the conversation, but the words that were exchanged between the people inside the room stung my heart. "I'm so sick of this. I am tired of everything in this team." The girl's voice was filled with panic and despair. "Oh please… just calm down." The voice came from a woman. "I don't want to… I've been so hurt for a long time now that you don't even realize it…" I knew the tension inside the room was somehow escalating. What's happening? I thought. "No one knows what I‘m going through because all you cared about was making this team work for the anniversary and other events in this damn church. I am so sick and tired of everything that we're doing. It has been so cyclic. I hate it…I just hate it!" The girl was now screaming at the top of her lungs. "We can talk about this, you just have to listen to all of us…we want to help you." A calm voice from an older man mediated through the nerve-breaking scenario. "No!" she resisted. "Dear, please." Another woman's voice tried to calm the situation. "You don't understand what I'm feeling. You're all insensitive. You're all judgmental. I hate all of you… I quit!" Hearing footsteps toward the door, I immediately retreated to the full-length mirror in the dressing room. The door opened and closed with a loud thud. My eyes widened when I saw the girl standing in front of me with raging eyes. She looked intently at me for a couple of minutes then quickly ran out of the room. That was the last time I saw her… I couldn't believe it… I just couldn't… Lord, why did she have to leave on this glorious event? What made her give up on You?
