Edward Cullen // Bad At Love

1081 Words
You were a big believer in strict order and tough love. At least, you are a believer of it since you grew up that way. You don't do softness, you tease your siblings out for fun. You get insulted and made fun of, that was tough love so all the cutesy love romantic stuff wasn't for you. However, deep down, you probably wanted it. To be actually told that you were loved, to be told in front of you, in your face. You love your parents and your siblings, and they do love you back it's just with a household that wasn't the greatest with emotions it was hard to express them. Unfortunately, Edward hadn't known this fact, so he was confused as to why you had reacted badly to him. He had to rethink the whole scene to understand why you were upset and now currently avoiding him. It started in the Library, the two of you were giggling whilst the librarian kept sending you and Edward glared, the threat of hushing you two was at the tip of her tongue. As you two slowly settled down, you turn back to your textbook whilst Edward leans his arms on the table. His hand supporting his head as he shows you a rare genuine smile. Only you could create that smile. "You're distracting me," You whispered to him, bumping your shoulder with his as he chuckles. "I'm so in love with you, (Y/n), you make me incredibly proud that I'm your boyfriend," He says, a smile so soft and eyes so gentle that you almost forget his words. "What did you just say?" You asked, your eyebrows knitting closely together as you hope that you misheard him. "I said," Edward grins, not realising that you were confused and not teasing, "That I am so in love with you and you make me proud." You looked at him blankly before slamming your book shut, "I- I got to go." Edward watched you in confusion as you quickly packed your stuff and left him in the library, he hadn't even gotten a kiss from you as you disappear into the rushing crowd of people trying to get to lunch. Edward has a rule with you, that is to never read your mind. He knows how to do a selective reading and out of respect, your mind will never be read unless you're upset or you allow him to. But, in moments like this, you were too far away from him to understand what he did wrong. He sighs as he grabs his books to head out to his next class, whilst you start to avoid him. Edward hadn't seen you for a week now and you've been ignoring his calls. He knows that you hadn't been skipping class, either, he'd seen you enter and leave your classes before disappearing on him before he could catch you. And he wouldn't be able to pinpoint your thoughts since you were always in a big crowd of people, it would take a handful of people to find your train of thoughts. So, he went to his trusted companions, Jasper and Alice, to whine. "You do know that (Y/n) is overwhelmed," Jasper muses out as Edward looked at him confused, tilting his head whilst the blond sighs, "(Y/n) isn't used to being told she's loved. The girl comes from a strict upbringing where they don't talk about feelings." "Wait, how do you know that but not me?" Edward asked as Alice rolled her eyes. "You ask, silly, if you're going to keep a relationship with her, communication is key!" Alice says as if it was obvious, "She keeps secrets like you do, Edward." "I know that but-" "Things come slowly," Alice teaches him, "She may trust you but sometimes she's just not ready and when she is - she'll tell you." "I guess," Edward nods, sighing wistfully. "Plus," Jasper shrugs his shoulders, hoping to brighten the tone of the atmosphere, "Her emotions were all over the place, she's really not that pleasant to be around." "Is that why you were glaring at her when she came over to the house?" "Not my fault," Jasper defended himself as Alice pecks Jasper's cheek whilst Edward shakes head and rolls his eyes. "Whatever, I'm going to find (Y/n)," Edward moves away from the car as Alice shakes her head whilst Jasper admires her. "He's an i***t," Alice comments about Edward as Jasper chuckles. "No doubt about that." He had found you parking your car, just as you turned off the engine and unlocked the car, he swoops in and gets in. You looked at him with a raised eyebrow as Edward smiles. Your shoulder softens as the guilt of avoiding him starts gnashing at you. Your eyes seem to be inviting as you sigh, "I'm sorry for avoiding you... Just...I'm bad at love." "Don't worry about it, Jasper told me about your family," Edward speaks as you relax before shrugging your shoulders. "Yeah, well," You looked out your window and let out a big heavy sigh, "My family doesn't practise emotions, so it's hard to confront them and you know," You shrugged your shoulders and looked at him, "Love isn't much of my forte." "Love isn't mine either," Edward tells you, tilting his head to the side, "We can learn together." "Still, you told me that you were a vampire and I didn't tell you that we need to take it just a tad slower than any normal couple." "We're not normal, though are we?" Edward reassures you as you chuckle, scrunching up your nose, "I mean you're dating a vampire, that's not exactly normal." You shake your head as a grin brightens your face, "Funny," You commented sarcastically, "I'm still sorry, I should have told you." "It's okay, sweetheart," Edward softly consoles you, placing a soft tender kiss upon your temple, "Still, you're the best girlfriend anyone could ask for." You bit your lip as you looked down, shyly, almost embarrassed as Edward checks himself. "Too fast?" "It's okay," You reassures you, looking at him, "I love you. Like, so in love with you." "And I am in love with you," Edward pressed his cold lips upon your warm ones, catching your breath he leans his marble forehead against yours, "And we'll take it slow, I'm fine with that." "Alright," You chuckles, pressing a peck upon his lips, "We can be bad at love together."
