" I want to help too, Melissa." Justin says, making me smile. He has always been that person who is willing to render their help when someone is in need.
I was about to open my mouth when Mason scoffed.
" Help her? I doubt if your intentions are pure. Who knows you might snitch on her when you turn your back on her." He commented.
Justin stares at Mason with a glare. I can tell he's offended by his words. Who wouldn't?
Mason has a way to get under your skin with his words.
" What's your problem buddy?" Unable to stand Mason's criticism, Justin asks and I see Mason turn to glare at the man menacingly.
" What is my problem? Are you seriously asking me that? Don't you get it? You are the problem here. I don't like people trying to play the hero where not needed. You followed Melissa all the way here to confirm it's her, I accept that but I won't allow you to meddle in her matters. She has us, her mates to worry about that." Mason says with a growl.
I honestly don't know what had gotten into him.
Justin has been nothing but understanding and supportive ever since he arrived so what's the deal with Mason.
" Mates?" Justin asked, his brows furrowed together.
Oh no! What did this knucklehead do?
" Yes, mates. We are her mates, meaning we are her close friends." Theo answered with a smile. I can't help but be thankful for him stepping in and saving the day.
He is thoughtful, nothing compared to the ass of a brother.
" If you have nothing nice to say, why don't you just shut your mouth?" I turn to look at Mason with a scowl on my face
I can't believe he's being childish and acting without thinking what the consequences of his actions will be.
" I shut up? What about him, is he supposed to be here in the first place?" Mason uttered angrily pointing at Justin.
There he goes again with his accusations and baseless hatred
Can't the guy be civil at once? Honestly, he was starting to get on my nerves.
" You don't know anything between Melissa and this gentleman here, as an outsider, you don't have the right to comment, let alone comment so rudely." Sensing my displeasure, Theo intervened. His eyes remained glued on Mason and I watched as Mason's eyes widened in disbelief.
" An outsider? Now I am the outsider here?" Mason asked in a pained voice but nobody said anything. Theo maintained his serious expression while I chose to ignore him.
He has been such an ass . It's about time someone feeds him the same poison.
Upon realising that nobody was paying attention to him or indulging in his behaviour, Mason stood up abruptly dragging the seat and making noise with the chair.
" Fine, since I am the outsider here, I will leave you alone." With that, he walked away and made sure to slam the door.
The sound made me jump, clearly telling how angry the Man was.
" Don't you think that you were harsh on him?" Justin asked, obviously concerned about Mason.
" He has made your short stay here impossible, why are you worried about him?" I ask, Unable to understand why he would be worried about Mason after the man has been nothing but a d**k ever since Justin arrived here.
Justin gave me no answer, he just shrugged his shoulders nonchalantly.
" He has to learn how to deal with people. Just because he dislikes someone, that is no excuse to be rude to them." Theo explains, sounding unapologetic.
I agree with Theo. Although what he said to Mason was over the line, he deserved it. He should know better to be civil with others.
" He seems to care about you though. If I didn't know, I would say he is your boyfriend." Justin says, making me choke on the water I had just drank.
Theo maintained a straight face, a small smile playing at the corner of his lips before it disappeared like it never existed.
" Anyway, I was saying that I want to help you with your case. I hate to see you wronged while the culprit roams the streets free." Justin says, making me sigh.
I appreciate his help, I really do but the less people we involve in this matter, the better.
I can't jeopardise the safety of so many people for my cause.
" I do appreciate your intention to help but I can't accept it." I broke the news to Justin.
" Why so? You are my friend just like you are Mark's. If he can help you, why can't I?" Justin asks but I shake my head.
" This isn't about who can help me and who can't. I Know you want what's good for me but I can't involve you in this f****d up situation. I don't Know who we are dealing with exactly but I can tell one thing for sure. Whoever it is must be a powerful person. I can't risk your life too. I am already feeling bad about Mark, don't add up to my guilt."
I can't accept Justin's help because that means putting his life into danger. If push comes to shove, we will have to fight our way to the truth. It's not like I underestimate him, it's just that we are dealing with supernaturals. It's something he won't be able to hold a candle against.
" Melissa is right. You can't get entangled with this mess. It's dangerous." Theo supports my decision. He knows that having another human into the mix might be risky and at the same time be dangerous to his life.
" I think the decision to know what's dangerous and what's not lies in my hands. I will be involved in this case as much as you are Melissa. Nobody can stop me. Not even you." Justin said, his voice certain and full of determination.
I could only sigh helplessly. Seems like I have no say in this.
Looking at Theo, he nods his head.
" Alright then but promise to stay away from any physical altercations that might arise in the future. I know just what you can help us with."
" Tell me about it," Justin replied enthusiastically.
" Theo managed to steal the vice President's phone. I want you to hack it. Access all the data you can find in his phone. We need to know who he talked to or communicated with before his demise." I Instructed and Justin's eyes widened in surprise.
" You think he's involved too?" Justin asks and I shake my head.
" I suspect he knew something about the whole conspiracy and that's why he was killed to silence him." I replied.
That's my thought on the matter but I am not sure. I just hope we can find some useful information to unravel the mystery.
" Okay, I'll get to it." Justin readily agreed. He's one of the best hackers we have and I know that his skills will come at hand.
Justin and I leave the office but separately.
I can't have anybody suspect me of connecting the dots. I can't afford to expose Justin to trouble too.
