Mason POV
The day had started so well and everything was going on well until that human showed up at our door.
The nerve of that guy? How dare he come knocking on our door.
I hate humans to the core and that's not something I ever tried to conceal.
They disgust me. They are so weak, pitiful and pretentious too.
Catching the scent of a human at our house had my blood boil in anger so I made my way to the door.
One look at my mate and I could tell that they knew each other.
At first, I thought it was that f*****g ex of hers. Taking a closer look however, I could tell that it was not him but one of the asshole's friends.
That did not make me feel any better.
Anything reminding me of that Man who dared hit on our mate is enough to rekindle deep hatred in me.
I know everything about that Man. Guess you are wondering how? That's because I had him investigated.
They say that you have to know your enemy if you want to defeat them.
Actually, there's nothing to fight about when it comes to Melissa. She is our mate and can't escape us, even if she wants to.
I also know for a fact she would never think about leaving us, not with how much pleasure we give her.
She's tied to us for a lifetime.
But even with this knowledge, I control the bitter feeling of jealousy when I see that man standing at our door, smiling at Melissa.
Things get ugly and I manage to piss Melissa off and she leaves us at the door, glaring at us.
She shouted to us, urging us to tear each other apart.
I can't do that. As much as I want to rip the humans neck apart, I can't do it.
Melissa will never forgive me. She is someone who values friendship and me, her mate, ending her friend's life, she might never forgive me.
Theo mindlinks me and I turn to enter the house. The human follows behind me like a lost puppy.
Theo turns out to be a traitor, inviting the man to share what our mate made for us with so much love.
I don't like sharing anything that belongs to my mate but Melissa's glare and a warning from my brother has me swallowing poison and watching a man dig into our food.
Things don't settle at all. I find the human too pretentious and unable to stand it,my mouth finds itself saying mean words to him.
Melissa is obviously pissed with me but I can't seem to stop.
When he offers to help my mate, my restraints snap and I say really hurtful words, nearly exploding that we are not normal humans.
Theo ad always cleans after my mess and this time he does too.
I want to rub it in the man's face that Melissa is ours and that he should stay away from her but I know that will anger our mate even more.
Annoyed with me, Maya snaps at me and the audacity of Theo to call me an outsider.
Enraged, I leave the house and head back to the pack.
Hours of contemplating has me seated here inside Theo's cabin, feeling regretful of all my words and actions.
I acknowledge that I was being a d**k. I don't know what came over me.
Yes,I know I am a jealous freak but it never came to that point.
I know the human meant no harm but something clouded my judgement.
At the end of the day, not only did I anger Melissa but Theo as well .
" Are you back to your senses now?" A voice speaks and I turn to see Theo standing at the door.
His languid figure leaning on the door frame.
" I already feel bad about it. Don't add salt to my wounds." I reply, looking away.
" You should. You behaved like an ass, you know?" Theo asks and I nod in agreement.
" I know that. Do you think Melissa will forgive me?" I ask,my eyes regarding Theo with so much hope.
" Maybe if you apologise sincerely, she will forgive you." Theo answers.
" But if we leave now, she will be fast asleep when we arrive in the city. Who knows if she will want to see my face?" I ask, losing confidence in myself.
" Melissa will never ignore you. You Just need to learn to control your hatred for humans. She has lived among them and your behaviour earlier really upset her. To her, humans are as important as the pack members are to you." Theo advises making me frown.
Justin POV
I can't believe that Melissa has been living in the city all this time when all the police force has been deployed to capture her.
What's more surprising is the fact that she has been working at the department office as the commander's secretary. She has been living right under everyone's nose and nobody knew about it?
But what do you expect from someone who has worked her way up from a normal Police officer to a FBI agent .
She is not your normal agent. She is called the queen for a reason.
When I collided with her at the store, I knew from her eyes.
Those eyes that seem to sparkle everytime she opens them , I can recognize them even in my sleep.
Why? Because those eyes haunt me in my sleep.
I fell in love with Melissa the first day she was appointed to join our team to investigate about the scandal of the serial killer. She was everything I have always wanted in a woman.
She is beautiful, knowledgeable, caring and a badass too.
It's not hard to not like her, she is irresistible.
I wanted to take my chance but Mark beat me into it.
Being my friend, I did not try to get between them.
I was jealous especially when Melissa would laugh to all the jokes Mark made. She was happy with him so I stepped back.
I could see that she really liked Mark and the same could be said about Mark.
That day when Melissa said something strange, I could not help but be worried for her.
The confusion on her face told me that she was not aware of what had happened for her to utter those words.
I knew that those words would land her into some serious s**t and sure it did.
Those people did not hesitate to accuse her of all those murders. What's even worse is the fact that she was even accused of killing her own parents.
That's absurd considering how much Melissa loved them. She would always tell us about her parents.
They might be her adopted parents but the Love between them was undeniable.
How did I Know that, well , that's because just like her, I am not an ordinary human.
The difference between the two of us is the fact that I knew about my identity long ago. I guess Melissa must have found out that day her parents died.
The fact that she is a werewolf makes us mortal enemies.
Werewolves and witches never mix, the two kinds hate each other with passion.
The two men in her house I suppose are her mates. From the aura surrounding them, I can tell that they are Alpha twins.
For a female werewolf to be mated to an Alpha wolf, that means she is Just as strong as them.
I just did not expect her to be mated to two.
At some point, I could not control my jealousy. How could they get the woman I had loved so effortlessly.
It was unfair but I guess that's just how the world is. It's never fair.
That Mason guy is a pain in the ass. I often hear that werewolves are very possessive when it comes to their mates, today, I confirmed it.
That guy simply wanted to tear me to pieces.
I don't Know why a mere human was enough to get him all worked up considering that I always conceal my witch scent.
That's how I have been able to live in society without any problems.
With a scent nullifying portion, I smell just like a regular human.
Or did the guy perhaps see through my disguise?
I doubt not.
Theo on the other hand is the exact opposite of his brother. He Seems to be more laid-back and understanding but that should not give you the illusion that he is the lesser devil.
If anything, he is worse compared to his Moody brother.
I bet that Theo is more dangerous than his brother.
Looks can be deceiving.
After listening to Melissa's story, my earlier speculations are confirmed. Someone did set her up and whoever this person is, is hell-bent on keeping the truth from everyone.
That's likely why they pinned the blame on Melissa.
I also come to confirm that we have witches in the FBI department.
It is easy to recognize a werewolf but a witch can easily blend with humans after concealing their scent.
When I offered to help Melissa, I meant it. I have to help her uncover the truth and clear her name. I will do it not only for Melissa but to seek Justice for one of my buddies who died in the hands of that killer.
Yes he was a drug dealer but he did not deserve to be killed, leaving behind a pregnant wife.
I believe if I can manage to crack the vice President's phone as Melissa proposed, we will find something important that might lead us to uncovering the truth.
After receiving the phone, I leave Melissa's house but not without collecting her number.
Since we are working together, we will need to talk from time to time.
Arriving at the office, the news of Mark's arrest welcomed me.
Apparently, he broke to the office and was caught red-handed going through confidential information concerning the murder case.
Since we were dismissed from handling that case, it is illegal to have him snoop around the details.
As a result, he is being accused of stealing information and sending it to Melissa who is the wanted criminal for that case.
That translates to the fact that Mark is an accomplice to that crime.
A shiver runs down my spine and the next thing I do is text Melissa to stay away from the office.
As a result of Mark trespassing, the office will be swept up and down to clear any other traitors.
The interrogation can expose Melissa's identity. That could be dangerous.
