" Wow, this looks beautiful!" I say, amazed. Who would have thought a place like this exists in the United States.
We were at the top of a mountain. A Crater formed at the centre, filled with blue sky clear water.
Theo and I now stood at the end of the cliff, overlooking the windward side of the mountain.
The place is covered with huge canopy trees. They are uniform and dense.
The cold air hitting our faces smelt heavenly.
I have always had a thing for nature. I liked staying in the woods, relaxing and reeling in the sweet smell of nature.
Maybe this is because I am a werewolf. Afterall, my kind is known to reside in the depths of the woods.
" I know, right?" Theo says, his arm wrapping around my waist before pulling me closer to himself.
His rich scent calms my nerves, making me crave for more.
It feels so wonderful to be in Theo's arms. It gives me a sense of security.
" I discovered this place when I was young. I used to come here after my mother's death to unwind. I never told Mason about this place but that asshole secretly followed me. That's how he got to Know avoid my secret." He says and I smile despite feeling the pain in his voice when he talks about his dead mother.
I wonder what happened to his parents? Ever since I came here, nobody seems to want to talk about my mates' parents.
I am curious but I dare not ask about them. I am afraid that they will be pissed off. I have a feeling that the topic about their parents is sour.
" I'm happy that you brought me here." I say and Theo hugs me tighter.
Theo and I spent the day swimming in the crater lake before we made our run in the woods.
I hate shifting to my wolf because the process is painful but with Theo encouraging me, I shift to my white wolf and we start racing in the woods.
At first, it felt weird but with time, I got used to it and enjoyed it.
We head back home before darkness takes over the city.
We arrive at the cabin to find Mason pacing around. He did not accompany us in our adventure because he had pack matters to attend to.
" What's up with you?" Theo asked and I could feel fear wash over me. I know that the emotion isn't mine, possibly from Mason.
" Bad news. The prime Minister is dead and it's reported that Melissa killed him." Mason's words force me to take a step back. Tears escape my eyes.
The prime minister is a righteous man who is hell-bent on going against any form of injustice and illegal deals.
Theo pulls me in his arms and I allow him to embrace me.
The news took a toil on me. Maybe it was fine when the person only targeted criminals but killed a top government official who is nothing but law abiding?
But wait… something feels off about this.
" I did not have a nightmare! How's that possible?" I murmur, earning confused looks from my mates.
" What do you mean?" Mason asks and I explain to them the dreams I would get back when I was still a police officer.
" You mean to say that you personally killed those people in your dreams?" Theo asks and I nod.
In my nightmares, I would kill those people and the following day, I would wake up covered in blood.
" That's strange! I have never heard something like that!" Theo says with a frown while Mason says nothing.
He seems to be deep in thought.
" Who else knows about this?" Mason finally opens his mouth to ask and I shake my head.
" I never shared this information with anybody. Nobody would believe me, worse would be, I'll be branded the killer." I say.
" You are already branded the killer even without telling anybody." Theo mocks and I glare at him. How dare he make fun of me in my current predicament.
" This is serious! Why would you have such nightmares then wake up covered in blood. It does not make any sense." Mason says and I have to agree with him. Nothing about my situation makes sense at all.
Ever since I arrived here, I haven't had those nightmares, nor did anybody die.
" There is only one explanation for this. You did kill those people!" Theo says and my blood boils.
" What do you mean by that? Do you think I am lying to you? How can I kill people? I am a police officer!" I scream hysterically, almost losing my cool with Theo.
How dare he accuse me of killing those people! If I did, would I even care about finding the culprit and clearing my name.
" I think you misunderstood Theo. " Mason says and I glare at him.
" Let's be rational here, you claim to kill these people in your dreams but actually, the people die in real life. It's okay if you just kill them in your dreams, but why would you wake up covered in blood Melissa?" Mason asks and although he is composed, I can sense the accusation in his voice.
Does he also think that I am responsible?
" How in hell am I supposed to know why? It happens and that's it. As for why I keep having those strange thoughts, I also want to find out." I yell at him.
Mason's eyes change from their hypnotising blue to red and he growls at me, baring his fangs at me.
" Mind your language, woman!" He growls at me but I don't flinch.
He is going to have to try harder to scare me. There is nothing I am afraid of anymore.
I stare at him challengingly, daring him to attack me.
" Cut it out you two." Theo reprimands, standing between the two of us.
" Tell me princess, is there something you are hiding from us?" Theo asks and I stare at him in disbelief.
" You two are impossible!" I spat before walking away and slamming the door behind me.
