I was disturbed by a sudden knock on the door. I was still in a bad mood and was definitely not in the mood to see anybody.
“ Go away.” I shouted from my bed. I had nothing to keep me busy, not even a phone, and you could imagine how bored I have been locked here since morning.
“ It's me, Melissa, you should take something.” His magnetic voice when he's not angry is enough to wet my knickers. I had realised that everything about Mason sexually aroused me. The way his lips moved sexily when talking to his Adam apple bobbled up and down turned me on like s**t.
' Get a grip of yourself.' I scolded myself, shaking my head to clear those naughty thoughts off my mind. I am still angry at him for stopping me from leaving and threatening me with Mark's life.
I understand that he is doing this for me, he was worried about me. What I wanted him to understand is that I can't remain locked up here in the middle of nowhere with a group of animals who turn all fluffy at night.
“ Leave me alone. I am not hungry.” I shooed him away. I know that I was throwing tantrums and that I was giving him a hard time while all he did was take care of me, but I didn't mind. I just wanted him to let me go and leave me alone.
“ Melissa!” Mason growled softly, a hint of warning in his voice.
“ It's either you open the damn door or I break it.” He commanded, and I knew he meant every word he said.
He is a lunatic, and breaking the door is the least of the things he's capable of doing to get his way. Living here in the past few days, I realised that Mason is a control freak, and it worries me whether I'll ever be able to escape his grip.
I didn't want him to destroy the door out of my stubbornness. Dragging my body across the room, I opened the door, my hands going to my chest, just under my breasts.
My act had involuntarily pushed my boobs up, and I watched as Mason's gaze travelled from my face and down to my now pushed up boobs.
He licked his lips with a hungry look on his face.
“ Pervert!” I cursed as I delivered a kick to his balls, a move he predicted and easily dogged the attack.
“ I thought you were inviting me to admire your nice teats with your move.” He casually commented as he strode into my room as if he owned the place.
Okay, maybe he owned the place, but this is my room. Who gives him the right to just waltz in without seeking my permission.
“ This is my room.” I reminded him in case he forgot that.
“ And you are mine.” Mason shot back at me, making me glare at him.
“ I don't belong to anybody. I am no property to be owned.” I retorted, despite knowing I would achieve nothing with my ranting.
“ Get your knickers straight Melissa, you are our fated mate and that's a fact that will not change. Not now, not ever. The moon Goddess created us for each other, and there's no escaping your fate. It would work the best for us if you accept that fact. That will make things easier for all of us.” Mason replied. His tone had a hint of fatigue, making me soften my stand.
It's not like I would rather not accept my fate, it's just that everything sounds f****d up. My life was really f****d up.
There were many things I still needed to know, for example, who are my real parents, and how did I end up with my foster parents?
Apparently, the two people I had grown to call my parents were not my biological parents. Mason confirmed to me that, being a werewolf, I could never be born from human parents.
The Whites were humans, at least that's what Mason told me.
I had asked him how he knew they were humans and not one of us, and his answer came out simple, their scent. They smelt like humans.
I have come to learn about many things concerning werewolves ever since I arrived here. For example, every werewolf has a unique scent.
My mate's scent was that of burnt sandalwood mixed with pine.
“ Where is your brother?” I decided to ask something entirely different from our normal discussion.
I have noticed that Mason doesn't like talking about his twin brother.
If they were expecting me to accept them, then I needed to know all there is about the two of them. I won't have anybody keeping secrets from me.
“ He doesn't stay in the pack.” Mason answered, making me roll my eyes at his answer.
“ That I already realised.” I replied. It wasn't hard to figure that out. After being here for almost two weeks, he would have come to meet me already. I heard that werewolves cannot stay far away from their mates once they identify each other.
I was starting to believe that superstition because I was experiencing it.
Ever since something whispered in my mind, which I later realised was my wolf, about Mason being our mate, I was finding it hard to stay away from him. The pull was so strong that I thought it was crazing me out.
“ He's a rogue and stays at the pack borders.” Mason replied. I could see that he wasn't going to give me any more explanation even if I pressed. That only aroused my curiosity more. I wanted to find out what happened that left one of the twins living away from the pack. I wanted to hear their story, but I also knew I had to tame my curiosity until later.
Taking the plate of food, I devoured the fried rice and chicken wings he brought for me as I felt Mason's gaze lingering on me.
Turning to look his way, I found him staring at me, making me c**k my brows at him.
“ What?” I snapped at him, making him shake his head.
“ It's nothing. You are beautiful.” Mason complimented, making my cheeks turn red.
I thought he would be dropping one of his sarcastic remarks, hence the hostility in my voice. Little did I expect him to compliment me, making me blush.
I concentrated on eating my food, ignoring Mason, who still had his eyes on me. After I was done eating, he took the plate away before handing me a glass of water.
Looking at him, Mason can't pass as the all – caring type of man, yet he has been doing nothing but take care of me ever since I arrived here
He is the Alpha, the leader of more than a thousand wolves, but here he is, serving me like I'm his master.
“ Come, lie down with me.” He instructed me, making me frown.
“But I am not sleepy,” I whined, pouting at him, making him chuckle.
Pulling my nose, he kissed my head.
“ Just lie with me, I didn't ask you to sleep.” He said, laying on my bed and patting the space next to him.
I climbed the bed, laying my head on his chest as his hands went straight to my waist.
Being in his arms felt so right that I was contemplating staying there forever. It felt like I belonged nowhere else but in his embrace. I felt my body relax and soon enough, I fell asleep.
After god knows how long, I finally opened my eyes. Mason was propped on his elbows, watching me closely.
I smiled at him, my hand going to his cheeks, caressing them, and he smiled back at me.
I have to admit that Mason was the most handsome man I have ever seen. His striking blue eyes drew me into them and sucked the life out of my soul. I swear I could spend all day long-lost in his eyes.
“ Look who was complaining about not being sleepy, waking up after three hours.” Mason teased and I just chuckled.
“ I didn't know I was sleepy until I laid on your warm chest.” I replied, not denying that it was thanks to him that I ended up sleeping.
My eyes trailed to his sexy lips as he smiled, and I swallowed, fighting the urge to kiss him.
As if reading my mind, he leaned on me, capturing my lips with his warm ones. The kiss was slow and sensual.
I felt him probe at me, making me open up to him, and I felt him thrust his tongue into my mouth. He explored my mouth with his tongue, tasting every corner, and I found myself moaning into the kiss.
My face burned from the unpleasant sound that just escaped my mouth, and Mason chuckled, pulling away.
With his fingers, he traced my lower lip and I boldly sucked on his thumb, making him groan out loud.
“You taste heavenly, Lisa,” he said, and I smiled at him.
