Chapter 5
The next day Benny drove back to Missoula. He popped into the restaurant and ordered himself a nice breakfast all the while studying each staff member’s face, searching for Amber. But he didn’t see her. He met up with Danny at a little park near his apartment and they went for a jog.
The park was busy with other joggers, people walking their dogs, and families out with their kids. Everyone was happy to finally be outdoors now that the sun was shining, the snow was long gone, and the puddles from April’s near-constant rain were gone.
“How’s Martha’s school work going?” Benny asked. They were going at an easy pace.
“She’s done with this semester and she’s gone back to work,” Danny said. “Her grades were fantastic. And did you see her new profile picture?”
