Benny came home from work Friday feeling exhausted. He wanted a nap. He wanted a drink. And he knew, when the desire for alcohol was this strong, the best thing to do was binge on junk food, run or ride his bike as much as possible, and sleep a lot until the feeling passed – distractions and sleep, that was the only way to deal with the constant yearning. Yearning. It makes me sound like some star-crossed lover missing his true love. No, this isn’t a lover. It’s a demon, a very enticing, attractive demon that I have no intention of ever inviting back into my life.
