First Encounter
"For those of you seated in first class, you may now begin to deplane" the flight attendant announced to the passengers. Immediately, a disgruntled man reeking of alcohol shot up out of his seat, reached up to grab his duffle bag in the overhead bin then began to shove the other passengers out of his way knocking down a mother and Child in the process. The flight attendant in an attempt to deescalate the situation spoke up first "Sir, please wait for-". She falls silent in terror as the man raises his hand to shove her out the way as well "Out of my way b***h!" the man shouts. The flight attendant closes her eyes in expectation; however, nothing happens as she opens her eyes to see another man towering behind the drunkard holding his arm. In a drunken rage the man turns around and freezes after locking eyes with the mysterious individual gripping his arm. "L-L-Lombardi" the man stutters out. In a low chilling voice, the mansays "You're going to sit down in your seat and be last person to leave this plan do you understand?" The man now sobered up violently shakes his head up and down then silently sits down in his seat clutching his duffle bag. The mysterious gentlemen quietly turns around to exit the plane with 2 men dressed in black carrying his bags. As the man began to leave, the flight attendant stared in awe: A white button-down shirt folded to his elbows, slicked back light brown hair with one strand hanging down, and a Rolex on his left hand. After his departure he left a lingering scent of warm teakwood and a slightly sweet citrus aroma, this was no ordinary man.
Damon got off the plane with his bodyguards talking, laughing about nothing in particular. He was bragging about all the girls he had on his trip to Fort Lauderdale. Damon graduated from the University of Miami in Business and had to celebrate before returning home to take over for his dad, the CEO of Lombardi Enterprises. Christi, a poor, shy and innocent young lady who graduated from the University of Florida, landed at the same airport as Damon. They were both in the baggage claim area picking up their luggage, not noticing each other. Christi was focused on getting the right luggage while Damon was on his phone. His bodyguards, Jeff & Vince, were standing at the conveyor belt waiting to pick up Damon's suitcase. They picked up Damon's luggage and they were off. Poor Christi waited and waited for her luggage with no luck. She found a piece of luggage that looked very similar to hers, and it was missing the special tag she placed on it before traveling. So, Christi had no choice but to go and file a complaint with the lost and found department at the airport. She sighed, she was having a crappy day already, and she had just returned home.
Living in Texas was hard. She was an only child and her parents died in a car accident when she was 16 years old. Raised by her grandmother who had a decent job and supported her through school with her earnings until high school. She got a scholarship for a full ride to the University of Florida. She was so excited and was super grateful to God for this wonderful opportunity. After a year and a half at university, the news came that her grandmother had passed away from stage 4 cancer. She was devastated. Christi had no idea that her grandma was sick, let alone had cancer. She went back to Texas to take care of all the necessary funeral arrangements. The Dean gave her two weeks to get all her affairs in order before returning to school. The only thing she was able to get from her grandma was the house, which was not much. Two bedrooms, one bathroom, a small kitchen and a small living room/dining room. The house was not much, but it was hers now. All paid for. All she had to take care of was the electricity, water and fees every year. While going through her grandmother's belongings, she came across the deed for the house. Her grandmother transferred the house in her name. It was official it was hers.
Before returning home, she made sure to contact the electricity company to turn on the lights and the water company and the internet. How would she find a job with no internet at the house? It was May and the weather was nice. It felt good to come back home. However, having no clothes to wear put a damper on her evening. She stopped by the chinese restaurant close by her house where she would have dinner and not go to sleep on an empty stomach.
Meanwhile, at the Lombardi residence, Damon's parents were so happy to see their son home again. They had dinner together and Damon filled his dad in on his vacation. After dinner, Damon and his dad, Matteo, went to his home office to have a chat about business. Matteo told Damon about the situation at work where someone was embezzling funds from the company, and they were not sure who it was. They wanted to set a trap for the person, but they would need to get someone on the outside in order to find the culprit. They are in need of a Bookkeeper/Financial Office. Damon could not believe someone had the balls to steal from the Lombardi family. Someone had signed their death warrant, Damoin told his dad. He assured his dad he would get the right person, and he would get to the bottom of this and would take care of the person or persons involved in stealing from them.
Christi got home, took a shower, ate her dinner and watched a movie. Very soon, she fell asleep. She awoke to someone banging on her front door. She would not believe someone was at her door so early. It was Saturday and I thought I was going to sleep until noon. No such luck, she thought. She ran downstairs and opened the door to find it was her best friend Jerri. She screamed and hugged him, and he hugged her right back. I have missed you so much," he said". It is great to have you back, it is good to be back, "she said".
They chattered about a few things here and there and spoke about getting a job and trying to get her life together. He told her about the temp agency and gave her the information that she should call them, and they would definitely get her something. She was so grateful to have a friend like Jerri. So, what are your plans for today, Jerri asked? Well, I was planning on sleeping late, but someone came to my door early and woke me up. So you have no plans? Jerri smiled smugly. She looked at him and both laughed. She told him what happened to her luggage and how she did not have any proper clothing to wear. All that she had in her closet was outdated stuff that she needed to donate.
The maid came to unpack Damon's clothes to find a note and women's clothing. She went to Damon and said," Sir, I came to unpack your luggage, but it is all women's clothing. He said What? He ran upstairs and saw the note that read: "If you are reading this, that means you have picked up the wrong luggage. My name is Christi Marshall and this is my phone number. Please call me so I can get my possessions back. He chuckled. Then he called Jeff & Vince. They answered Yes, Boss." He said, What is this? Where is my luggage? They looked at the items in the luggage and looked at each other, then apologized. He told them to get out. He called the number, and Christi said, "Hello, Damon said I think I took your luggage by mistake and I will be happy to return it to you. She was so happy that the person called at that moment. She needed some clean clothes. Christi informed him that his luggage was still at the airport. He said he could drop the luggage off before going to the airport to get his. She told Jerri she needed breakfast. He told her to go take a shower, and by the time she returned, that he would be back with breakfast. After showering, she put on the same clothes she had yesterday. When she came downstairs, Jerri had not returned.
A few minutes later, she heard a knock at the door. When she opened the door, there were two men dressed in black suits standing outside, one holding her luggage and the other just standing there. They apologized for taking her luggage from the airport. Meanwhile, Damon got a glimpse of the person standing at the door, and he was taken aback. She had a pleasant face. He quickly came down from the car and approached the door. He introduced himself, and she looked at him like wow!!! He is so handsome. He was looking at her like this could be my next conquest. He asked her if he could take her to lunch to make up for the huge inconvenience that he had caused. She said that would not be necessary, but he insisted.
She decided that she would take him up on his offer, and she said I can meet you, but he declined. I will pick you up, like a gentleman should. Christi insisted that they meet up, and he was adamant that he would be a gentleman and pick her up.
