Fighting Fate

1100 Words
The next several days flew by, Moon barely saw Alpha Storm. The few times she did, he seemed to be mad at her. She was confused as to what she'd done, to anger him. Anytime he'd come into the room, he was mumbling and grumbling under his breath. She felt bad, maybe she was a burden. But they told her she could stay while she healed. She healed slower than most werewolves. She'd learned she had some type of genetic mutation that slows her ability to heal.  Normally it would've taken a day to heal, but it took her three.    The day before Sun and Moon's birthday and the wolf mating ball. Moon was sitting at the table having breakfast. She'd completely healed. Storm walked into the kitchen. Moon noticed and took a deep breath and spoke. Good morning Alpha Storm. He refused to look at her. "Good morning." He said, over his shoulder. Beautiful morning, isn't it? She tried making small talk. She noticed him pause. Yeah sure. Well I'm off to work. If you need anything, my office number is on the frig. And with that, he turned to walk away.    Suddenly he paused in the doorway, with his back still to her. I almost forgot to tell you. I know we said you could stay here while you healed. But you can stay as long as you need. Your choice. And make yourself comfortable. And before she could reply, he was gone. Elaine had delivered a message to their teacher. That Moon was ill, and that she'd be back on Monday. She'd also called off work, with the flu.    The house was empty. Everyone either went to work, school, or running errands.    Cleaning her mess up, she decided to take a shower. Her injuries had only allowed for a bed bath.  Sara was kind enough, to grab her some scented body wash, shampoo and what not. She went about the room, gathering what she needed. A few minutes later, she stood beneath the warm waters spray. She thought it felt heavenly. Lathering up well a few times. Once done, she rinsed off and hopped out. After slipping on something, she popped in her ear pods. She stood in front of the full-length mirror, blow drying her hair. Her favorite song came on, she lipped synced along while dancing.   Storm had made it to the corner. When he looked over at an empty seat. "Damn it." He cursed out loud. He'd forgotten some files on his dresser. Making a u turn, he headed back home. Getting out, he walked briskly to the front door. It was quiet, everyone was gone for the day he guessed. He assumed Moon had left as well. He made his way through the house to his bedroom. As he was passing, he noticed the guess room door was ajar. He walked over and was about to close it, when he noticed some movement. Pushing it open a little farther, he poked his head in slightly.   Storm's jaw dropped, and his blood ran hot. Standing in front of the mirror, was Moon. Clad in only a red lace bra and matching boy underpants. Shaking her butt, and swaying to music. Storm gripped the doorknob. To keep himself from going over to her. Damp hair flew wildly about her, as she blow dried it. He stood there, mesmerized by the sway of her hips. He felt himself growing hard. He quickly and quietly closed the door. He made his way to his room and grabbed the files. Heading out his room door. He paused outside hers once more. The imagine of her half naked dancing around. Was burned into his mind.   He hurried out the front door, got into the car. Starting the engine, he blasted the air conditioner and radio and pulled off. Later in the office, he busied himself around the office. Each time the image, of a dark haired pewter eyed girl popped up. His body would betray him, he'd inwardly growl. He just worked harder running around. Intentionally exhausting himself. He even worked over, in order to avoid Moon. His resolve was slipping, and he didn't like it.   He was so use to being, the one in control. He'd been around beautiful women all the time. After work before heading home, he grabbed his self a bit to eat. He decided to eat it in his car. Afterwards, he drove home. It was late when he made it back. Walking in the door, it was quiet. He silently thanked his lucky stars. Heading to his room, he noticed Moons light was on. He quickly walked pass. Closing the door behind him, he headed for his shower. The water helped to relax him, getting in the bed he fell asleep immediately.    Early the next day, Moon walk up to birds chirping outside. It was another beautiful morning. She smiled at the sound. Something smelled wonderful. It smelled like French toast, her favorite. She swung her legs over the bed, to go get some. When a light knock came at the door. " Come in." She said. Sara walked in, with a big stack of French toast with a candle on top. And started singing "happy birthday" along with several other members of the pack. Moon set there smiling and listening. When they were done, she thanked them. Sara produced from behind her back, a small gold box, with a red ribbon.   Moon looked at the gift in surprise. Go on and take it, it's for you. Moon reached out and took it. She wasn't expecting anything. She looked at Sara once more, and hurriedly unwrapped it. It was a white gold friendship bracelet, with beautiful charms. The charms said things like, good friends, you're special. And Moon automatically thought of Elaine. That hadn't spoke, since she left. Sara notice a fleeting sadness cross her face. "Are you okay hon."  Oh yes, just remembering a friend. Are you sure don't want to go with us to the ball tonight? Moon shook her head, no thank you. "I really wish I could change your mind, Moon." I've been searching for my mate, since I could. I I know you told me you're not ready and all.  Sometimes the best cure isn't time. Sometimes… you need someone in your corner rooting you on or there just to wrap you in a hug. Sara had a longing look in her eyes. If you can, don't wait too long. "Okay?" Sara said softly. "Okay." Moon said. They all left the room and closed the door behind them.
