A tip from her would be a wonderful thing to be heard. Alejandro had shared that Amelia had worked with Trinity before. She’s been a trusted worker in that organization, but for some reasons she had left without a word. She cut her connections and until now she doesn’t want to get involved. But time had surely won as it continued to play along. She always finds herself being linked to it. The farther she wants to move away, the nearer she gets to it. It is as if it’s really destiny to make her face the past.
“A tip for a friendly cost.” She smirked and raised her cup for a toast. “I know you wanted to find the real one that they have successfully made. Well, there is one in precise. The only thing I know is it’s in the hands of Trinity.”
“But I thought they have lost that.” Alejandro told them.
“Oh, they did. It was forgotten a long time ago and I guessed the one responsible for that was one of those who have handled the creation. It’s a weapon to end it all.”
“In the first place, why does Trinity have it?” I asked since those fragments are still scattered on my mind.
“Who knows? They might know the main reason why this had to happen. When I worked there, my only friend was the one who had seen and got the chance to start as a pioneer. She knows everything that had happened, though she didn’t become a whistle up to the end. Her loyalty had killed her. Until now, I don’t understand why she had to do it,” She explained and finished her drink. She wiped off the side of her lips. She hasn’t eaten any of the crackers that was placed over the square, blue plate.
She’s a picky eater and I could sense that she’s living in a solitude, dark place. She got this vibe of being tacit in her ways and she doesn’t seem to like having such eye-contact. Also, she had smelled like burnt leaves and coconut oil. My pen had unexpectedly rolled over the floor and hit the side of the table’s leg. I lean to get it, but I found out that her shoes were deeply set with soil as if she had travelled long. When I placed it back on top, I wanted to ask where she’s residing, but based from her features, the thing that came out from my mind is that she’s near a wet, abundant place.
Amelia isn’t infected at all. Her survival skills are strong and her body is well fit for such age. My nosiness wasn’t stopped when I bluntly asked her about it. “Where do you live right now?”
Both have gave me a contemptuous look like I just changed a topic out of nowhere. “Well, I just want to know. How come you’re not infected until now?”
“It’s will. When your mind is set to survive, then your body would react to it. It’s just like that. You’re not austere to your members here and they are also free to roam around. Some have also acted like infected just to cope up with the environment. Some have made themselves as lookouts, then kill those who are a threat to this group…most of it in silence. Clearly, the Howard is compose of people who want to do things unnoticed. Hunters. So, why team up with another group just to make sure that you take the flag?”
She got a point that it made Alejandro to think more.
“The north had already attacked the Ethernal. Think of it. In terms of the surge, they are the ones taking the lead. They took most of their resources and especially their men. Only few have stayed in that base with that nun.” She added and stretched her fingers. It made those soft cracks.
I poured cold water on my glass as I felt that my mouth had ran out dried from what we’re talking right now. I haven’t found a box of coffee for myself lately and now drowsiness is pouring on me and it’s hitting me hard. I rubbed my shoulder, feeling the weight on my back. As I wet my lips with water, the two casually continued their talk and I was just listening.
"So, you're saying that Trinity is now holding that weapon. How sure you are."
"I just know. Because before my colleague had died, she told me the exact location where it was located. So, I guessed they have found it already. I just hoped that they didnt find that serum."
"They just did. They took it back from the north and how they're planning to give it to their higher ranks."
"Oh...so it will be in his hands these coming days." She uttered. She glanced over Alejandro who's now rubbing his eyes. He could feel the need to sleep too. "We can continue this if you want by next week. The two of you are drained. You should get some beauty sleep."
"No. We will end everything here." His eyes directly opened wide and shook his head to stay alert.
"Okay, as you say so. If you're going to have this weapon, what will you do about it?"
Now, that caught my attention and waited for Alejandro's response. When he lowered his spoon, that is when we heard the truth on what's going on.
"If it will be in my hands, then I would proceed with the execution. Our members will be the same and it will become big if they would abide with our law. It is time for the population to sink down. Our reserves won't be able to carry much of us anytime sooner, and we need to take actions before it will be gone for good. We need to control the distribution. When that weapon will be here, I'll make sure that we'll make it as a weapon too to cure...but only for those who deserve to be cured at first."
"And how will you do that? That was design for the bush itself."
"You're here, Amelia. You're just right here...to help us and we'll make our way for that to happen."
She laughed and said, "You've got to be kidding me."
"I'm not a fan of jokes, lady. Get yourself and you'll take us to Trinity by the end of the month. Make sure that you won't runt away like before. You got this man to hunt you down." Alejandro tapped me.
