Episode1: The One For Vivian
My heart stopped pumping as I awaited Logan's decision on me. Without speaking, I already knew what his final verdict was.
Somehow, I wished the mood goddess would hear my cry and turn the situation in my favor.
“Father, I'm waiting. How long before you finally decide? I'm running out of patience. Should I take Vivian along with me to the nightfall pack? My people await the arrival of their new Luna. It's not ideal of me to keep them waiting for too long,” Derek protested.
I still can't figure out why he wants me. He was right there when Logan stated that I was Wolffless. He doesn't like me.
I can't seem to sense the bond between us. I can't figure out how he concluded that we are destined to be mated.
What's the assurance that I would like it on a nightfall pack?
I am loving it here at Red Moon Pack. I've lived all my life here. I can't imagine myself relocating over to a new pack to start afresh.
If it weren't for Amelia's constant bullying, I wouldn't have any reason to evade Logan's pack.
My gaze flickered at Anna as we both shared a telling look. She nodded her head disdainfully and wished that I wouldn't be taken away.
“Don't leave,” I watched Ana whisper to me. She was trying to pass a message across to me.
“Fine! You can have her. She's practically useless to me. She won't be missed. I got her other maids to fill in her shoes after her departure,” Logan finally declared.
At that moment, I lost touch with reality. My breath seized immediately. I was under a panic attack.
“No, that's not happening. I'm not going anywhere with Derek. I love it here. I am ready to do anything just to stay back. How do I leave everything behind?” I fell to the ground and grabbed Logan's legs, pleading for him to overturn his decision.
He never said a word. It didn't seem like he was ready to listen to me.
“Get your filthy hands off me, you bitch.” Logan kicked me away.
He treated me like a piece of s**t. I was resilient. It wasn't enough to scare me away.
If enduring his humiliation was going to make him overturn his decision, then I'm ready for it.
“You, take that b***h to my chamber. We leave by sunset tomorrow,” Derek ordered one of the soldiers.
I hurriedly stood up and took out a dagger from my underpants, flashing it across to the soldier.
“Don't f*****g come close to me if you wish to stay alive,” I threatened the soldier.
I had no idea what spirit possessed me, but I was glad it did. I can't imagine myself being subjected to another slavery.
It's not as though Derek is going to love and cherish me. He probably chose me just to prove to everyone that he can have whatever he wants.
That's not the kind of man I want to spend the rest of my life with.
In normal circumstances, I should be eternally grateful to the moon goddess for finally finding me a mate after Beta Jason publicly rejected me in front of my parents and pack of wolves.
“Are you scared of a common maid? Go get her.” Derek commanded from a distance.
He couldn't get closer to me, knowing that I might do something stupid.
“Try me! One of us is visiting the moon goddess, and it's not me,” I warned Derek.
I was edging backward slowly to escape to my quarters.
Eloping from the red moon be disastrous and suicidal.
I would probably not make it past the neighboring pack before I get caught.
I managed to distract everyone and ran straight to my quarters when I noticed that everyone stopped paying attention to me.
I expected Derek to run after me, but he never did. He just stood there watching me escape.
“Don't worry, she'll come back. She can run, but she can't hide.” What a man! He was so confident that I would run back to him.
I arrived at my quarters and shut all the available doors. What was I thinking?
That I was going to hide forever? Not in this pack. Meanwhile, I figured it was ideal for me to stay away from everybody.
"Go with Alpha Derek. You can't hide forever," I heard a voice speaking in my head. I couldn't recognize the voice, so I ignored it.
“Go with Alpha? I'd rather become a slave to Logan forever,” I said to myself.
Just a few weeks ago, I was the princess in the Red Moon pMoon. My whole life started crumbling right in front of me after the gruesome murder of my father.
“Vivian, open up,” I heard a voice calling me from outside.
I refused to respond just to stay safe. I couldn't decipher the person behind the voice.
I wasn't inclined to hide forever, but at the same time, I would rather not see Derek or anyone who would add insult to my injury.
Slowly, I limped to peep through the tiny holes in the door to find out who was there.
It wasn't my mother. It wasn't Jason, the Beta, or Derek.
To my greatest surprise, it was Anna.
“Ana? What does she want?”
I asked myself rhetorically as my voice echoed back to me.
“Please, open the door. I know you're in there,” Ana urged me.
“She saw me? How was that possible?” I muttered succinctly.
A part of me wants to open the door and accept Ana. However, I had my worries.
I wasn't certain if she was sent by Derek to lure me out. Left to me, I would have trusted Ana.
She's always been good to me since I was captured. That's the major reason I was quite skeptical about trusting her this time.
Derek probably found out about my friendship with Ana and decided to set her up against me.
“Are you alone?” I asked Ana for clarification.
“Of course I am. Please open up.” She pleaded with me.
She might sound honest, but I wasn't convinced yet. Traces of lies can still be sensed from her tone.
To confirm if she could be trusted, I rushed to peep through the backdoor to confirm if Ana was telling the truth.
I realized that she was being honest with me.
With a bit of doubt, I dashed forward to open the door for Ana.
“Vivian,” she hugged me and cried. She took the situation more personally than I, who's directly involved.
If Ana could feel this way towards me, it indicates how pathetic my situation was.
“You don't have to do this; you know that, right?” Ana said to me as though she could read my mind.
“I'm going to miss you. You've become a part of me. I would rather not be left alone in this pack.”
“Of course not.” I cried without dropping a tear. I've practically exhausted all my tears. What I got left was blood.
“There is no way I'm leaving with Alpha Derek. Don't worry, you're not going to be alone,” I assured Ana with confidence as though I were capable of defeating Derek.
“But what do I do now? Alpha Derek would be here pretty soon. You know it's impossible to defeat him, right?” I freaked out and sought advice from Ana.
My head was spinning. I couldn't possibly think straight to save my life.
Ana has been my support system since I was demoted to a maid. She practically has better ideas than me.
The last I checked, she wasn't the one that was forced to go live with Derek.
“Hold on a second while I think,” Ana told me. She paced around with her hands positioned behind her, trying to come up with a solution while I sat down to watch her. That was the least I could do.
"Yes," she snapped her fingers.“I "I got a plan.”
“Really? I jumped out of excitement. “I want to hear it. Please, don't keep me mute.”
I hadn't listened to her yet; I was confident that she had found the solution to my problem.
“Why don't you escape?”
Ana advised me.
“Holy moly! What the f**k do you mean that I should escape? Have you suddenly lost your senses of reasoning?” I yelled at Ana when I shouldn't have.
I quickly covered my mouth to stop my scream from alerting everyone to my hideout.
“I'm sorry. I didn't mean to yell at you,” I apologized to Ana. All she ever wanted was the best for me.
“What if I get caught while trying to escape? We both know how heavily guarded this pack is,” I told Ana.
“Your father was the former Alpha before Logan ambushed him, right?” Ana asked.
"Yes," I nodded in the affirmative.
“I'm confused. What has that got to do with my present predicament?” I asked Ana.
I got confused. I had no idea what she was trying to insinuate.
“You should know all the escape routes in this pack. You see why escaping seems too easy? Ana smiled at me. It was a brilliant idea. I've always known that I could bank on her.
“What if…”
“Please don't,” she said, covering my mouth to stop me from speaking.
“Can you stop being pessimistic for once? You're not going to get caught,” Ana assured me.
She was so certain about my freedom. She believed in me more than I did.
