EVE. After dinner, I practically bolted back to my room the second it was polite enough to do so. I just mumbled something about being tired and slipped away. Saint had left not long after he arrived. He didn't say goodbye. Not that I expected him to. He just stood, placed his napkin beside his plate, and walked out like the rest of us weren't even there. Let him stay gone, please. The moment I shut my door, I exhaled for what felt like the first time in hours. My hands trembled slightly as I pulled off my clothes and slipped into the soft pink nightie I'd picked earlier.
