Landon
...
"And you won again..." I said, leaning back in my seat. "Guess I'm on a lucky streak." the man in front of me -my soon-to-be new business partner smiled, looking down at the chips in the pod, grabbing them, and pushing them to his side of the table. "I challenge you then," I said, leaning forward, putting my hands on the table, with a smirk on my face. "Tell me more." The man replied quickly, looking straight into my eyes. He was overly confident and I just knew how to use that to my advantage. "Let's play for more than just money." I raised an eyebrow at him, waiting for his answer as he looked at me with wide eyes. "Like what?" he replied a bit confused, but you could hear in his voice that he was interested in my idea. "How about Flame?" I leaned back again, rolling my tongue over my teeth because I knew he won't refuse the offer. He couldn't, because his existence was in my hands. He was in deep thought. He knew that if he didn't follow all of my wishes, and accept all of my offers, I would back out of our deal and his company would go bankrupt. It was his only chance at survival. I knew he loved his daughter, but he loved his company too. The only question was, which did he love more? But I already knew the answer to that, and I already knew the answer to the offer I gave him. He would do anything to save his ass, pushing anyone and anything in front of a bus to do so. Even his daughter. "Let's do it." he smiled at me, this time with less confidence than before.

CHAPTER I
Flame
...
"You just have to wear something red! It always looks so good on you!" I heard Evelyn screaming from my walk-in wardrobe. I chuckled and sat down on the edge of my bed. The sun was illuminating my room through the big window that was hiding beneath a thin white curtain. The white walls of my room were playing with the bright sun rays, enchanting the colors portrayed in the photographs that hung on the walls. "I'm so jealous of you tho Flame." Eve walked out of the closet and back into the room, holding three different outfits. "Why?" I asked curiously, raising an eyebrow at her as she rolled her eyes at me. "You've got that beautiful natural tan, gorgeous big blue eyes, and long dark brunette wavy hair which gives you the ultimate ability to wear all the best colors and look bomb in them," she said a bit frustrated, a bit annoyed, yet playful whilst putting the outfits on the bed beside me. I laughed and looked at her. "All the best colors?" I asked with joy in my voice. I was teasing her since I knew that she never liked her light, porcelain-like skin and her mid-length blond, straight hair. She always said, the best thing about her was her green eyes and I have to admit, they were a beautiful emerald color and actually, the first thing you could notice when seeing her. "Well, red, orange, neon colors, all the good stuff that I look terrible in." She said pouting. "You know you always look great Eve, all colors are good colors when you wear them," I said, standing up and grabbing the first outfit. "Oh please, don't try to sweet-talk me. I hadn't forgotten what we were talking about before you sent me to put together these outfits," she said, crossing her arms with a playful smile on her face. I smiled back at her and swiftly went into the closet to try the outfit, not saying anything back. "Let me remind you of my question." I heard her clear her throat, waiting for the dreaded question to leave her lips again. I took a deep breath, preparing myself. "The Landon Wolf is coming to your house in 2 hours, to meet your family so he would take on a business deal with your father? The Landon Wolf who built his business empire when he was only 22 years old and has been declared the sexiest millionaire of 2019?!" she said, taking a deep breath at the end of the last sentence. "Yes, that Landon," I said, biting my lip, whilst zipping up the zipper on the yellow skirt I had put on, then walking back into my room doing a three-sixty. "I like it, but I don't feel it," Eve stated putting her hand to her chin. as if she was a professional. I rolled my eyes, took the next outfit, and went back into the closet. "And you're sure I can't go through as your sister?" she said with a high voice while I was already putting on the second outfit. "Maybe as my adopted one, yeah, sure," I said in a mocking type of voice. "Whatever..." I could hear the eye roll in her voice. "If things go well, maybe I'll introduce you to him someday," I said, not believing my own words. I was nineteen, in college, and nowhere near ready to start an actual independent adult life. He was twenty-three, soon to be twenty-four, and had achieved more in those two years than I did in my whole life. And I just knew he'd achieve so much more in the next two years than I will in (very likely) my whole life. "Well, that does sound good. But if you sneak into his heart first, I heard he's got a younger brother, only a year older than us. I wouldn't be opposed to meeting him either." I smiled to myself, before realizing what she just said. "Sneak into his heart!?" I yelled, whilst putting on a sparkly blue shirt, putting my hand up a bit too fast, causing the material to rip. "f**k!" I yelled in frustration. "Did you just rip the outfit?!" Eve said before bursting out with laughter. "Yeah, real funny, can you just get me the last outfit? "I like the last outfit the most anyway," she said, trying to lift the mood, whilst handing me the tight red satin dress, that was too short for my liking. "Good god Eve, I'm not wearing this," I said a bit frustrated whilst looking at the dress that I was now holding in front of me. "Uh, yes you are Flame, you don't wanna be Lame, do you now?" she laughed at her pun and I just took a deep breath, massaging my temple with my left hand, still looking at the dress. I knew that no matter what I said or did, Eve would always win, and I would end up wearing the dress one way or another. "You know you want to wear it, don't be so tense all the time." Ugh, I let out a breath and took the dress from the hanger.
"Let's get this over with," I said, walking into my room still adjusting my dress. "Giiiirl." Eve's jaw dropped to the floor when she saw me. "You look hot!" She clapped, admiring her work. "Okay, we have you dressed, we have beautiful bouncy curls in your hair, the last thing to check off the list, is makeup," she said, with a devilish smile. "Do I need to wear makeup?" I said a bit uncomfortable by the idea. I was never one to wear makeup. The only makeup I ever wore was some mascara and chapstick, and chapstick isn't really makeup is it now? "Oh come on! We have to finish off the look! You don't even need to wear foundation, I mean you've got perfect skin," she shook her head and I laughed, "Just let me fill in your eyebrows, put on some mascara and then let's paint your lips the same red as your dress." the way she was talking made me forget I was even arguing about it with her. She really could have sold ice to an Eskimo if she had the chance to. No wonder her major was marketing and sales.
"Well, damn, if this isn't the best you've ever looked, then I don't know," she said, after putting the last stroke of lipstick on my lips and then handing me a mirror. "I love it," I said, a bit taken aback, by what she had done with so little makeup. "I know, I'm incredible," she said sassy, reaching for her bag. "It's 7.45 p.m., fifteen minutes until his arrival." She said, giving me a hug and walking towards the door looking back at me one last time and waving before disappearing behind the wall.
I bit my lip. My hands were shaking, and I felt like passing out. I was nervous. I knew that my father's company relied on this deal, but truthfully, I didn't know why I even cared that much. Although he always told me that I'd be taking over soon, I never felt like this was what I wanted to do for my whole life. I saw myself everywhere else, just not as the CEO of dad's failing company. I don't think it was the work that I despised, I was just opposed to the idea of keeping something my dad created, maybe because he never cared for me, something else he had created nineteen years ago. It hurt that he was never home, that he was rather spending time at the firm than at home with me and mom. The only thing he cared about was money, so I couldn't understand why he invited Landon to dinner at our house.
"Flame! Get down here, Mr. Wolf has arrived!" I heard my mother yell in a bit of a panic. She always tried to be the perfect wife, yet never got noticed. She deserved much better from my father. "Coming!" I said, taking one last look in the mirror before leaving to join my parents in front of the house.
