My brother's words were echoing through my head as I made my way back to the kitchen. Was he right? I knew that this whole thing was like a house of cards, the lightest breeze could make it break. Or more like any memory, she would get back. f*****g hell, I should've taken her from her parents a long time ago. I should have protected her as I promised her. I let her down, I disappointed her. "Everything okay?" I didn't even realize I was standing in the middle of the kitchen motionless. "Uh, yeah..." I put a smile on my face trying not to seem to startle by her voice. "Ready to go?" I extended my hand for her to take and she smiled at me. Hell, that smile of hers stirred up all kinds of feelings in me. "So where are you taking me?" we were sitting in the car driving down the road already for a few minutes."It's a surprise." I looked at her with the corner of my eyes, just to see her facing me with a raised eyebrow and a lazy smile gracing her face. "I love surprises," she said in a low voice, then turning her head to look at the road. "I know," I said in a whisper so she couldn't hear me before taking a left turn towards our apartment.
...
"This is your apartment?" we just stepped out of the elevator that brought us to the 12th floor. "Yeah, it is," I smirked to myself, walking towards the living room. "Okay.." I knew what she was thinking about. ´Just how much money does this guy have´ or ´Just how many properties does he own´ it's always the same, just that most girls say it out loud. "So, why are we here?" she sat down on the couch looking at me curiously. I was leaning on the door frame trying to come up with an answer. To tell the truth, I wasn't thinking about an answer to a question like that, when I planned to take her here. I was just hoping she would remember something from the past few years.
I chose to ignore the warning words of my brother. I couldn't just let her fade away like that.
Good thing is, she loves to stay home and watch old movies. Something we've got in common. "I thought we could watch some movies in peace, get to know each other." I moved from the door to the couch and set down beside her. "Only if you've got ice-cream." she crossed her arms and leaned back, looking at me with her big beautiful eyes. She was biting down on her lip, trying to suppress a smile that wanted to break free. "What do you think? Of course, I have ice-cream." I chuckled and she giggled, a spark dancing in her eyes. Damn what I would give to hear her thoughts.
"I'm going to get everything ready, you can go and choose a movie." I pointed at a glass cabinet. All the DVD's were stored in there. "I'll be right back." she nodded and we stood up. She walked towards the cabinet, opening it up and I could see the happiness she felt as she looked through the DVDs. Taking one last look at her, I turned around and went to the kitchen, preparing the ice-cream and some popcorn.
