Rachel Today I turn 18 years old. This should be the best day of my life, right ? Well, not anymore. The world we live in has changed . 10 years ago, the world was overtaken by the Vila virus. The Vila virus affect 95% of women, by attacking the female reproductive system and causing it to poison the body, leading to death. This has caused a serious decline in population. To fight the population decline, the leading world officials have decided that once females have had their first period, they are brought to Haven, a safety area in the centre of the United States, where the children are taken care of and protected until they turn 18 years old, and these females are classified as white, pure. Once you turn 18, you are entered into the auction held on the 1st of every month. At the auction, men have the opportunity to bid on women who belong to the proper class. If your a billionaire, of course you can bid on a white. Blue collar every day man? Why not have a red. Oh you don’t know what red is? Let me explain more. Women who are labelled as red, have damage. Rather it be they are no longer virgins, they have difficulty reproducing, they have already been used to reproduce, or simply, no one wanted them, this is where they end up. They also get auctioned off, however they have to attend the auction on the 15th of every month. Those women obviously go for less, as they are not seen as desirable. However, if they fail to be sold 3 months in a row, then they become black. Women labeled black are useless. They either can not produce, mostly due to age, they are undesirable, or they have failed to follow the law. These are the women that the average man can purchase, however the terms for these purchases vary. They can be purchased temporarily, or permanently. If only temporary, they are expected to return to the auction the following month, on the 30th. I know this sounds harsh, but the world leaders have decided they needed a system in place to keep the men functioning in society, and since the Vila virus has a 100% mortality rate for women over 40, the time frames to continue the population is very limited. But enough about that. Today is about me! It’s my birthday! I am now 18 years old and available for the auction! I sit up in bed , looking around the other bunks at all the other girls dressed in their white nightgowns. I’m excited . I am finally 18! My birthday is on the 24th of April, so I only have to wait less then a week until my turn at the auction. I understand, I shouldn’t be excited to be auctioned, but I am. As a white, I have a chance. There is a chance that the man who purchases me, will decide that he loves me, and choose to keep me and be with me until my time comes. Who can help but hold out hope for the best ? I jump out of bed and run to the washroom, doing my business and getting myself ready for the day before the masses wake up and there is no room to get through. There is 50 bunk beds per cabin, leaving 100 girls in one space. Don’t get me wrong, it is humane, but sometimes a girl just wants to brush her teeth alone. Finally I hear the door open and I run back over to my bunk as Mrs Storm enters the room with her usual smile. “Good morning ladies ! Rise and shine !” I hear frowning all around the room and Mrs storm chuckles “I know we can be in a better mood then that because today we have a 18th birthday! Happy birth Rachel!” I smile wide as all the girls look over, smiling happily for me, excited for me to finally be given the chance. “Now ladies, please get ready to start your day, you are all expected at breakfast in 30 minutes” Mrs Storm approaches me ad the girls rush around to get ready, getting dressed in their white day dresses. “Good morning Mrs Storm!” I smile happily as she approaches. “Good morning Rachel! I am so excited for you! Now as you know, after breakfast today you will be brought to have your picture taken, so that we can add your photo to the website showing the men who will be available at this months auction. Here are the clothes we expect you to wear and please make sure you are presentable” she smiles to me softly as she hands me the clothes and walks away, allowing me to finish getting ready. I put on the special clothes for the occasion, a white lacy blouse, allowing a generous peak at my cleevage and a tight , form fitting short skirt . It makes me think of those old school uniform skirts with how it’s pleated . I happily oblige and get dressed for my picture, and then line up with the other girls ready to head for breakfast. We enter the breakfast hall and I get lots of smiles as they see me ready for my picture, my hair braided down the side and my outfit in prestige condition. We eat our pancakes and I excuse myself to go take my pictures. They position me in multiple poses, showing off my developed figure to hope attract multiple bids. The money raised from these auctions go towards the care of the women, as well as research to hopefully find a cure for Vila, and help us get back to the society we once knew. All I can do now is wait, and hopefully I can find my happily ever after.
